I have had a few 29ers. Norco Optic, Moxie FS, Privateer 161 etc. Just cannot get on with 29ers in steep terrain. Keep going back to my Capra. They are fast though I will give them that.

My Company makes modern body armour for military and police units all over the world. Probably 250k Vests fielded. We turned some production over to masks and gowns. Up to 10 million quantity. I registered with the NHS and never heard a thing. Putting 1p on N95 masks and gowns for profit. Do the math on 10 million masks at 31p. 3 mil deal only. I guess the cheapest bidder loses.

Thanks for the spec list. I went Large on the Rune at 6ft,33″ inseam.

Can these bikes take 200mm in the back? Looking for an adapter.

Great looking frame. I went the runev3 route but yet to build it up.

What size rotor and mount you running out back?

    Thanks!

I run Maxxis on most of my bikes but recently tried the MSC Grippers all round in Scotland. Really good grip and speed. Around 40 Gbp for a beefy enduro tyre.

I have tried the below bikes over the last year around the tweed valley and I have gone back to my Capra 2018CF. About a week spent with each bike.

    Norco Optic
    Norco Sight
    Privateer 161
    Bronson
    Megatower
    Ransom Tuned
    Rocket
    Rocket Max.
DMR SLED (better than all above ride feel wise and in steep terrain, never got tired or sore on it. Easy to ride. IMO)

I have a bolthole in Innerleithen but live 50 miles away near Dollar. I went down once to change a leaking dishwasher after the ‘stay in your health board’ advice and never even took the bike out for uplift.

Watching strava, instasham and TF it is amazing at the number of people still coming down into the borders for a ride.

I know a guy who has one that goes to the Tweed Valley, rides the steeps and is the nicest guy. His bike sucks though. Gore red YT capra. Even worse he wears a drop frame.

    from RRPs FB page…
“We’re still working on the ProGuard Bolt On pack options for the DVO, however to get some of you going it will actually fit some DVO forks already just using the M4 Ohlins Bolt in the pack with the mudguard, HOWEVER, you will need a washer 12mm or 13mm wide to spread the load (as the head of the M4 Bolt is not wide enough), it also MUST be tightened to 2nm.
On some DVO forks you may need a tilt bracket (also in the pack) to raise the front, some don’t.
Just thought we’d share… See More”

I like Nukeproof stuff. Nothing fancy. Beat it, put it away. Who cares. Just a tool for the trails.

Sadly the places i ride people seem to carry a lot of bike snobbery, so if your not on the latest 650b carbon or 29er people look down their nose at you i find this very sad that thats the way the British mountain biking community is very sad indeed

Maybe reading people wrong? I find it the other way.

Nothing mentioned on gov.scot about travel out of the your health board area. Leaving the central belt etc. Only news websites it is mentioned.

So If I live in Stirling and have a bolthole in the borders that I use for bikes. Should I not go to the borders now at all for 2 weeks?

I am local and use MSC grippers front and rear and never have an issue for all types of riding on a steel fs and yt capra around the tweed valley.

Shorty up front was my standard for a few years. DHF out back for all tweed valley persuits. 2-3 hr rides.

The 161 rides well for what it is, nothing fancy but great for stages and long days out. I found its geo (p3) to be great for smoothing even the roughest tracks. It is a specific tool. No frills. As a daily bike I still prefer my large Capra 170mm CF as I find it really light and fun. Im 6ft and its compact but I just seem to ride the best on it. For some reason I prefer 27.5 in really steep terrain.

I am testing the following geo 29er Steel FS I had made for UK riding. Based in the tweed Valley. Nothing too crazy here but a good mix of trails. At the larger end for me in feel but smooth as hell it is while still being really lively. Really feel on the center on this bike. More so than the long moxie FS. Climbs better and faster down for sure. 160F/140R

Its a shame. Ive had many Vvans bikes (norcos mainly) and never and issue. Fast shipping etc. Maybe the lucky 1%. Even during lockdown I got a Norco sight c1 and torrent s1 in under 10 days.

I have 3 of them on different bikes. (dmr sled, Morph FS and a moxie FS) Excellent shock. No issues with any of them. JTech supplied and the recommended tune. I have the DB Air CS on my Capra too. All helms too. Do not think I will look back at Fox or RS again.

ccdb air or coil? I have the air DB CS on my 18 capra and very impressed with it.

I have the classic edition and use it in winter around the tweed valley. Works well on cold days and post ride its easy to strip it off and change. Hose it down with my portable Karcher and hang it in the van. Thats it. Wash it proper every 5 rides or so. No heat. Delicate wash. I used it once in a fall rain storm doing the inners xc red climb up to Minch Moor. Decided to head on up over to yair and the suit paid for itself on that ride. A torrent kept at bay. Mates were miserable and I was on point. The fun making stopped after that trip.
