    it’s going on a 3×10 deore crankset

I assumed it was 104 and ordered a chain ring to fit but got a shock when I tried to install it

it is the symmetrical version not the xt and slx specific ring

it is needed asap and getting it delivered from any where wouldn’t be until the 4th as everyone is closed down

I have a asymmetrical slx ring from a damaged crank which is 96mm as well

two of the bolt holes line up could I run it with just two bolts? it would probably come loose quick

are these problems only on the full suss frames?

about to pull the trigger on a crush frame and this thread is worrying me

i know the hardtail frames aren’t made in the same place as the full suss’ so it might not be the same

I’m running a slx mech and a 11-50 sunrace cassette shifting is fine and no problems after two months

It’s good to know that it’s only 40 quid to replace as well

@Chakaping the DHR DD dual compound doesn’t exist sadly it would be a great rear tyre

I’m using the 2.4 DD 3c now on the back of my full sus and it rolls slower than the hr2 I had on before it

the knobs are very meaty compared to a hr2 2.3 I have one new and I compared it to the dhr when I mounted it up

+1 for Mardi chilli quick delivery and cheap

Performance is good but some metal pads I got were inconsistent  but that might be user error

    I actually use Shimano’s own

resin in the front and metal in the back as they are consistent and great performance. Can be had from Halfords if in a rush

Have you got a link for the one you saw on SJS blitz?

I couldn’t find it after a quick search

    https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/dt-swiss-freilauf-fuer-dt-onyx-370-86903

There you are , I have the same cassette but on a 350 hub instead of 370 and it has also chewed it up.

The thin spline on the 11t is all the way through!

That’s promising then, they do look bombproof and well made

How is the off bike grip? I don’t mind a hike a bike every now and then

That makes me feel better nemises how was the profile on that?

I usually run higher pressures normally to stop roll and save the rim

I might post a picture of the dhr once I mount it up and figure out how to post them

Their website is slightly dated but I’ve never had any problems navigating it

The service is great regardless whenever I’ve ordered and I’ve just got a dhr dd 27.5 for 48 quid thanks to the psa

On my nukeproof mega I have a slx mech and shifter (second mech due to the old ones cage folding in half)

Just got some nice new saint cranks as the slx ones that came with it bent and the threads got damaged from catching a stump

I’d stay away from slx cranks if your buying new ones as the other one took a clip on a root and the pedal damaged the threads so it sat at a funny angle, wasn’t even the worst hit too didn’t come off because of it

The mech and shifter have been faultless tho smooth shifting and good chain retention (with the clutch on)

The slx cassette is worn now and has been skipping so I’m gonna get a sunrace 11-50 just hope it will play nice with the mech , the 42 is fine for most climbs but the 50t will be nice to change into for a bit of a break

Anyone tried that cassette with a slx mech?

On the front it’s not too draggy I’ve got the dhf 2.5 max grip and it’s a great tyre

The wear rate has been good too about 3-4 months in and the edges are just rounding off now

@Rich_s have you got a link to those I couldn’t see them after a quick search

I was looking for a dt rim too but those wtbs seem dirt cheap they are suppose to be cheesy though aren’t they? Never used them so can’t judge them too quick

    @sslopes
I don’t have a picture but it’s just a 26 inch rear wheel dt hub 350 (ratchet) qr 135 spacing but could convert from 142 with new caps on any rim (dt ideally)

There is actually a few like that further away from me but not miles so I could get in touch with them

The only problem with that is if they charge retail for the hub and rim which would be 3-400 and I want to spend half that

Looking for a old new discount ideally but they require time and a lot of googling

it’s going on my commuter/hack/winter/bikepacking hardtail but I need it for commuting asap

I tried the ratchet on a wheelset on my enduro after going through 3 pawl type hubs in 6 months and after another six months it is faultless

easy maintenance too no tools just pull the cassette off and regrease (hope just pulls off too but I’ve been through 2 freehubs and the downtime waiting for replacement is annoying

I would get a build from my lbs but they have waiting lists , both of them! It also ends up costing a lot more than a pre built wheel

There are still pre builds on the internet but I’ve only found fronts and non ratchet ones

They can be deals on 350 hubs I got a e1700 boost wheelset for 220 just need to scour the web

I have been eyeing them up also they can be had for 70 quid an end here

I have the one pot versions now and they are great but more power and modulation would be nice

hoping I can just buy the calipers and match them up to my current levers

    +1 for dt 350’s

I got a e1700 set for a bargain and the hub and rim have been faultless

The ratchet system is great , IMO better than the pawl and spring used by hope and others as I would go through a freehub every few months (even with regular maintainence)

but if you did want to go hope their customer service and warranty is great

I wouldn’t go Shimano not because of cup and cone bearings but freehub strength know lots of people had to switch them out as they broke constantly but the new xtr hubs have a ratchet system so they might be better

Where was the dual DD in stock?

How long did you have exo on before it warped?

I’ve got one on the front so trying to see how long it’ll last

    liamvc96

@100mph is that from the maxxis website?

I wonder why they didn’t release a DD dual as it’s suppose to be a dedicated rear tyre.

I know people run it on the front but rear is in the name after all

    hmm

@boardingbob it would be better if they offered all tyres in all casing options and compounds I don’t see why they don’t

I know people say there is already too much choice but tyres are easy to understand and I would rather have more choice than less

    @scruff
which casing were they? I’ve never had that happen but I’m a bit of a tyre swapper so I’m always changing them

I’ve emailed maxxis using the form on the website but I’m not holding out much hope of a reply

IMO exo is useless on the back even at ‘correct’ tyre pressure a good square hit at speed will pinch go DD and have peace of mind

the weight difference is negligible unless you’re a xc weight weenie

I wouldn’t go for an ardent either it would be alright for current conditions but as soon as it turns wet again is it pointless and scary

    just my two pennies

    27.5?

Or other tyre recommendations? was thinking about an aggressor but apparently it doesn’t brake well

    Thanks hopefully it will be

Have you ever tried to save the threads on a crank? Could heli-coil it but theres not much material around the hole so I think it will be a bin job

It is the wuntu app but I couldn’t find it on there either I had to go on the menu in the bottom right hand corner then account then help and support

Go on live chat at the bottom and put in details, only a few number and address and stuff then when it connects tell them that you can’t access the 4 cans for free offer and they will give you a code to give to the cashier.

Sounds a fuss but it only took me 5 mins

    sort of

i mean the r and d can’t be much they are similar to fox how they clip around the air shaft so its not a radicaly new idea and tooling? they’ll only be injection molded it’s not like they’re buying new forging equipment

distribution and stuff should be absorbed really as it’s just part of the process

I can see why people would do knock off ones

I might be being tight but just seems excessive for what it is

if only I knew someone with a 3D printer

Go double down? I hesitate putting an exo on the front never mind rear but that’s just me.

An aggressor 2.3 dd is a good tyre the 2.5 wt is even better depends on your rim width

The topeak ratchet is the only multi tool worth using IMO (I hate multi tools with a burning passion though)

You can actually get decent torque to properly tighten things and it doesn’t feel like you’re holding the wrong end of a knife while trying to tighten a bolt.

The ratchet , separate tyre levers and that ct5 park chain breaker someone has posted is my go to system that deals with 90% of mechanicals

Slightly heavier compared to a ‘all in one tool but I like being able to sort things and keep going instead of the dreaded walk back to the car

    liamvc96
    Free Member

@nixie they are both deals but only in those widths

I’m going towards lighter and wider too and the e1700 only weighs 40 grams heavier than the m1700 so it can’t be that much stronger

    liamvc96
    Free Member

They both have the same hub (dt350)

I would be putting a hr2 2.3 on it but would want to run wider at some point like 2.5
