This is the posts first service in 3 years (I know) and it only started getting sticky in the past year or so.

Unless you have a problem with the cartridge they should go for a while , they have a two year warranty and cartridge problems usually show before then.

Best performance and value dropper IMO , start cycles had them cheaper with a discount code also. There was a thread about it a few months ago don’t know if it’s still active.

I was comparing the Hans dampf which is 1161g according to that website.

I would also agree that aggressors aren’t the best tyre and don’t grip as well as they look like they would.

That is also normally my rear tyre of choice (27.5 though) but you wouldn’t get one even if you offered up your first born.

I went for a Schwalbe hans dampf super gravity instead and it seems good so for won’t be as grippy as a DHR but it rolls a hell of a lot better. Perfectly good for the summer and it still has quite a tall side nob.

The super gravity casing felt slightly thinner than the DD but not much still feels a lot better than single ply versions. Double down is still a dual ply casing just it’s 120tpi and DH casing is 60.

According to the maxxis website and a bike radar review the SG schwalbe is lighter than the DD maxxis by 100gs or so. The big Betty is heavier and looks like it would roll slower than the dhr so I’m not sure I’d go for that.

Keep checking at the bike shop sometimes stock has been arriving spontaneously even though the due date is next year or something stupid.

I also looked at the PNW dropper but I was put off at everything coming from America. Would probably mean a few weeks down time if you had to warranty anything.

Brand x are still great posts for the money and you get can spares next day if you pay for it.

I’ve never understood why people pay double or triple for other seatposts they just add more complications to a thing that literally needs to go up and down.

Has anyone actually tried to put the shim in? Whytes used to come with the brand x , the one with the new style collar , and they included the travel reducing shim with the packaging so would imagine you can shim it down.

A butter knife can also be used in a pinch but that is better for at home rather than on the trails.

Just don’t use the best ones if you don’t want to annoy your OH

I would imagine they would not take too kindly on anyone trying to encroach on their business. Even if they already make a boat load from their existing exploitations

One of the funniest things I’ve ever read on here is someone calling Paul Hart a loaded weapon and it is true.

Danny and his missus also subscribe to the anti-vax rhetoric so if you feel strongly about that then give it a miss.

But if you live in NE/NY I wouldn’t let it put you off as it’s the only uplift without driving a few hours.

I actually contacted maxxis about a dhr dd dc but I just got some generic corporate answer. Even though I said there is a lot of demand for such a tyre.

As for the OP’s predicament you would have a lot more luck finding something in maxx Terra as I have seen a few people looking for the maxx grip variety assegai to no avail.

If you have your heart set on maxx grip then dd/dh casing are a lot easier to find and only 200gs heavier. After a few weeks your fitness will adjust and you won’t even notice it anymore. Plus better damping and thus more grip.

I thought that as all the codes I have tried haven’t worked.

This is probably the only purchase I am going to make with them for a while so the rewards points aren’t that useful but it’s still good to know thanks.

I should probably wait till next year when bikes and parts will be going cheap.

I have considered a moon , I was worried about the beam pattern being more focused. Have you found that?

Ive still not narrowed anything down , anyone used the Halfords 1000 lumens on the lid? Wondering how heavy it is as the 1600 is too heavy.

Looks good but yes over budget also would be nice if you got both mounts for that price , like the replaceable battery idea too

IMO deore 4 pots are the best bang for buck brake at the moment mine haven’t seemed to suffer from strange bite point syndrome as well.

That was until I replaced the original mt501 lever with a XT m8000 after a crash and it was terrible , found another 501 and it has been fine since.

It all looks pretty good. Cassette is NX level painfully heavy though.
    ^^^^
    This

If I go 12 speed it’ll probably be XT cassette and shifter and deore or slx mech and chain.

On Instagram they said stock was expected early may , don’t know what market that was for , it’s not on Moorelarge website.

I am also eagerly waiting on stock as it seems like a cheaper alternative to XT 12 speed

The bike was advertised as 160 travel and should have been sold as such

A price was agreed for the the frame as the buy it now price included other parts like dropper and cranks.

He made no mention of removing suspension hardware. The bit about the 160 link was added after price was agreed and money sent via PayPal

    First time picture post!!
    On one boot zipper
Built up during Xmas holiday break ready for commuting which is its main use/local rides/bikepacking/touring
On one boot zipper 29er frame and fork XL
    Dt Swiss X1700 wheels
    XT cranks
    SLX mech
    XT shifter
    Sunrace MS8 cassette 11-46
Shimano MT-520 4 pot front brake
    M6000 2 pot rear
    Specialized fast track 2.1 tyres
    Specialized bar and stem
Ergo grips (some cheap Clarks ones actually very comfy)
    Bar ends
    Cinelli vai seatpost
    Pro logo saddle
Podsacs medium frame bag carrying spares and tools

Rides very nice , first rigid mtb so nice trying something different. Comfy to spend time on , which I’m hoping to do more of , used for getting to work everyday also. Thinking of experimenting with drops at some point it is sold in both formats complete so it should work

Surprised scotroutes has not been in yet telling you what an incompetent mechanic you are and that cup and cone bearings are the best things since sliced bread

Buy dt swiss and forget about them soon after installing

    +1 for the new mt501/mt520/deore 4 pots

can be had from rose for just over 100

all the power you’ll ever need and lots more modulation than 2 pots

i had the m6000 deore 2 pots and the power was great but they were very grabby

are you building the wheels and have everything else already? (spokes , rim)

it’s just that I have found you can get pre build wheels for the price of a single front or rear hub.

definently have a good look on German and Europe sites as they are very much the cheapest for dt stuff

saying that I got a 350 hub built rear wheel for 130 from crc so just keep your eyes peeled

it’s the new xl version that clamps at the lever

I’m not sure if there should be a grub screw or somewhere else to route it into

if it’s 24m on axle it’ll work with shimano bb won’t it?

Newcastle might be a bit far though I will send you a pm

no luck at both shops when I rang up so borrowing/buying a new crankset might be only option

I’ll be ringing them and my other lbs that were closed today but are open till dinner tomorrow like Westbrook

it seems like a pointless standard too as I can’t see any advantage over 104 on a triple
