I find it feels perfect for me. I’ve got a large and I’m 6ft 1. I did the canyon measurements twice – first time I was a medium then second time I was a large. I’m no expert but I think the wide bars help it feel good. If it had narrower bars maybe it would feels like you was sat tall in the saddle.

My brother is 6ft 3 and he did the south loop at whinlatter on it and even he said it didn’t feel small or cramped. And he’s got arms like a gorilla.

What saddle did you go for piglet? Not hot a massive budget – £40 max unless I see a 2nd hand bargain

Well after riding my new spectral for 5 weeks of s or got yo say I’m well happy. Couple off minor issues – the saddle is too firm for my fat ass so that’s the first little upgrade. Also the forks are a little sticky and I’m struggling to get them more, erm, soft feeling. I know they don’t getter best write ups but this seems as though they are sticking a little around the seals. Other than this the bike is simply brilliant for the money. How is everyone else finding theirs? ( good advice by Nealy by the way – cheers pal) anyone got any pictures out and about?

Heres mine at the top of rivington pike…..

Hopton woods is nearby and excellent too. The blokes in the shop told us it’s better than eastridge.

We stayed in the camping pods there last year and it was really good – highly recommended. The lads in Blazing Bikes – the shop there – will give you advice on local routes and conditions etc. The long mynd is a short ride away and is a brilliant ride out. The pub on site is very good too – best steak i’ve ever had!

The best freeform lens around is the Essilor Varilux S or maybe the Hoya ID v+. A decent optician should be able to get hold of those. If also recommend going to an independent optician if I was you pal. You’ll get better service and aftercare. Good luck!

cheers, youre probably right jota, signal strength is probably the problem. got a quote off bt to put an aerial lead in and its £70 but im not paying that.

I manage an opticians and i’ve found if you get a decent pair of varifocals then they are much easier to get used to than bifocals. You dont get that sudden jump from distance to near vision as you get a much more gradual progression. If you get cheap 2 for 1 varifocals then you may struggle as you will get a lot of distortion in the peripheral are of the lens. Ask your opticians for freeform varifocals from Hoya, Essilor, Nikon, Rodenstock or Zeiss and pay a bit extra or you’ll not get the full benefit of the varifocal lens.

Golborne cycle centre on Golborne High street is highly recommended, technically in Warrington but 10 minutes drive from Warrington town centre

Yes I understand that but I was trying to make the point that if it does feel a little small or big a different length of stem can make a difference. Its obviously good if you can test ride a bike but in my case and evidently in a lot of other peoples cases they’d rather take their chances with the sizing guide and advice on the Canyon helpline (admittedly only when they answer!) and save a few hundred quid. You can also send your Canyon back if it doesn’t fit when it arrives, not ideal I know but to some its worth that risk.

They only do a L frame size with the 27.5 wheel size – if you wanted XL you’d have to have a 29er.

    Jesus wept.

I can honestly say I’ve never ridden a bike and thought “Wow I can really feel the slickness of the M771 cassette over that rubbish M671”.

Jesus wept. So you are saying inferior components are no different to better components?

Laugh, fart, wave at me I don’t care. I’d rather save hundreds of quid to save for any repairs due to my dodgy warranty.

I wouldn’t call a reverb, fox shock and forks and xt deraillier baubles. I’d say they make the ride sorted myself. I really like Giant bikes but the frame and parts on a same priced canyon are a mile ahead.

I’m 6ft 1 and got the large and it feels bang on. My brother is 6ft 3 and he says it feels perfect too.

If it turned up and felt a little small I would have got a longer stem, if it was a bit big I would have got a shorter stem. I’ve read my canyon warranty and everything seems in order, thanks for that.

Just got my canyon spectral 6.0 and it’s very impressive. The Giant can’t match canyon spec wise and personally I think that overrides the test ride. The 8.0 must be an absolute blast.

Well I placed my order 2 weeks ago and the most recent email said the bikes being assembled and will be despatched within 48 hours. That was 3 days ago.

just got an automated email reply that says I can use a debit card. just hope they are quick with the delivery now. I have read vastly different reports on how long this takes.

yes I thought of that nick but they only answer emails within 3 days so will delay my order

not tried yet but it does say credit card not debit card. I think it will go through but need to know as I need the bike urgently for the end of next week if possible. if they picked up the phone it would make things a lot easier!

I dont think they would have made a massive loss. I think they would have made a small profit.

So now its all blown over whats the end result? Decathlon now have hundreds, maybe thousands of new accounts opened and email addresses to aim at, hmm.

Only joking, just being overly cynical.

Again cant afford the burgtec, lovely as they are. Refuse to pay more than £50 especially when they get battered probably more than any other part. Id be gutted to get a set of those and scratch and dent them to oblivion.

Would love a set of Hopes but out of my price range I’m afraid pal.

Cheers Tony, think I’ll go for the thru pins if i choose Superstar.

I did my measurements yesterday to see what frame size I need and got a medium. (I am 6ft 1 and average build) Redid them this morning and it says I am a large! How have people found the sizing guide with Canyon? I have a large c456 at the moment but would maybe prefer a slightly small frame this time.

I was hoping to order on a different card to what I actually pay on (long story!) So I was wondering of they notify you when the bike is built so I can ring them with my other card details.

i am also looking pal so i will follow this thread closely. The best I have seen so far is the Canyon Spectral AL 7.0. Awesome spec for the money, 140/120 travel and includes a dropper post.

Nealy if you could give me more info regarding comparison between a c456 and the spectral id be very grateful. I am thinking of going for the spectral but have a few little doubts. I have a thread going – ‘Difficult choice, On-one or canyon?’ and have a choice between the spectral and the new c456 evo. Cheers.

That’s a beauty, love titanium bikes. My lbs has just built one up and they are stunning looking. The spec on this is a bit low but I’d consider it in the x9 spec for £200 more. With the money from selling my bike I will build a commuter, maybe an old inbred singlespeed or something.
