I’ve had one of these in te past and it was ok but the bolts are really small and kept coming loose. Suppose I’m asking too much to get something cheap and reliable!

Actually I don’t like the laser. Going 1×9 is partly about it looking neater but that makes it as cluttered as 3×9.

I know I’m being a bit thick here but what’s the difference between an external and internal bb? I’ve got a shimano zee bb fitted, would I need to change it?

That looks good mackem. Would I be able to run that with a 9 speed rear mech? Also would I need a chain device with that?

Go on then I’ll do them for £40. They are in almost perfect nick, there are slight marks on the orange lenses but the dark grey lenses are brand new never been used. Here’s a link to what they look like.

I’ve got a pair of adidas evil eye half rims that I’m selling for £65 pal. They are in great nick and they retail for around £150. I’ll knock you a fiver off if you’re interested?

It says on crc that it’s a 32 tooth middle ring aith the triple set, its a 36 on the double. Not sure which is best for me really with going 1×9.

A bit leftfield but the 456 carbon is on offer at a frankly stupid £299 at the moment, just got one myself

Is a chainring without ramps a single speed chainring?

It’s an awkward bloody 3 bolt chainring, should have mentioned that. Would be happy with 32ish up front but you can’t get them anywhere

Thanks tony, think I will go for the 27 but I just haven’t heard of anyone else trying it so I still have doubts! If you manage in a hilly area with that setup maybe I’ll be ok.

Nice one! All I need then is a front shifter and cable to match my other shifter. Like bloody jigsaw this build business.

I’ve got those too Marty, picked them up from my lbs 2nd hand for £30, absolutely love them, really light and just a bit of flex. I’d happily have paid £60 for anew set – orange p7 is the name and I’m pretty sure you can get them on the orange website.

I’ve recently built a rigid bike with an onone scandal frame. I’ve also got a full suss Boardman which I’ve not used since I built my rigid. Absolutely love it – not got expensive forks – picked up a set of orange p7s for £30 second hand and they are superb. Like an earlier poster said its just so much less faffing around without servicing and setup. It took no time at all to get used to it just feels so much faster and lighter. Got a 1×9 setup on mine and never needed more than that.

My mate has got some black and white ones recently and didn’t like the look of it on his boardman and is going back to a suspension fork. He’s selling it as new, it’s the tapered type with the adaptor from post mount to IS and it is running 160mm rotors. He wants £100 plus postage for it. Let me know if youre interested and I can send pictures.

I got nuke proof electrons last month and I love them. Miles better and lighter than my well go b52s, loads more grip. Look really sleek too.

Wow. More work than I thought! Cheers for the advice, will get stuck in tonight. Like the idea of shortening chain to save weight, will keep the shifters up front if I can to save cost. Just wanted a cheap way of lightening my bike and making it a bit cleaner looking.
