Correct, it is crazy talk pal. Just got some brand loyalty built up with on one over the years but it may be time to say goodbye to them.

Any other suggestions for a bike around £1800 would be welcome.

Hmm, really not sure. Cheers for the info though pal, gives me something to think about.

The interest free option with on one is a big bonus too, don’t think that’s doable with canyon.

Why then? Too good to commute on? Daily wear and tear? I suppose I could build a dirt cheap rigid singlespeed with an old frame I’ve got in the shed.

I agree I shouldn’t commute on a FS, tried that before.

What was the nerve like weight wise? Bit concerned about weight of a FS after having a carbon hardtail?

Really wish on one had a decent choice of FS bikes. The codeine looks nice but I don’t like 29ers.

You’ll enjoy single speeding I reckon. Really different but enjoyable and certainly gets you fit! Looks like he’s done a top job there mate.

mines also just gone but to give a bit of balance i’ve had it for 16 months and used it for commuting every day in rain and mud as well as big rides at the weekends. i can’t complain really!

will it be reviewed by any magazines? be interesting to read an independent review. (still waiting to see a review of the c456 evo)

looks great by the way, possibly best looking 29er i have seen.

Hmm, think its worth a gamble on getting those bearings then. Are they easy to fit or is it a LBS job?

Yes I’ve got the notorious smoothie mixer on mine now. Can just feel a little play in it and I’ve started to feel it when riding now. Can’t tell if it’s the bottom that’s failed or not though.

I’ve always had similar service from them, find it surprising when I read some negative reports.

I’m pretty much inept at anything mildly technical and I recently attempted the tubeless conversion. Glad to say it was very easy. All I used was a cheap track pump from lidl – currently on sale at £5 (including a 3 year guarantee!) and a bucket of soapy water. Inflated my tyres to 35psi first time no sweat. If you’re on a budget give it a try.

I bought one of these a year ago. I thought ‘if it breaks, I’ll take it back and swap it for some bottles of black sheep’. It’s still going strong and it recently helped me go tubeless very easily. Highly recommended. Why not buy 2 and have a spare.?!

They are on sale this Monday.

I needed a bike for commuting and also for weekend rides at trail centres and xc riding. My old fs bike was just too heavy to commute on despite being a decent spec so I went for a c456 and I couldn’t be happier. Rides brilliantly on the trails and the slack head angle gives you loads of confidence going downhill. My LBS bloke has a few bikes but seems to ride his c456 more than his other bikes.

Right I’ve gone with Your advice Frosty and ordered the convertor from crc. If it works you will be my hero. If it doesn’t I’ll send it back.

Stupidly I didn’t even consider it fitting in the drop outs. What a tit I am! I’ll phone onone for help as mine are going (hopefully) on my c456

brilliant, cheers. Now another question as i am a numpty. I have tubeless ready tyres, the stans fluid and a high pressure pump. What else do i need for the fitting?

I need to order a new wheel set this morning urgently but when you ring they say they are not taking phone orders please use the online ordering system. Brilliant! I’ve emailed them but had no reply yet

i keep checking but still offline. Gutted as was going to order some wheels today. Is there anywhere similar that people know for a good cheap tubeless set?

Still tempted so may buy today. My only doubt is the too good to be true price.

2 people have heard of them and recommend them and noone’s said they are dubious. I’m still tempted.

I agree rendo, doubt they’ve ever been £600! I’m seriously tempted but the crank bros iodine at £199 look gorgeous bug are twice the price. Really dont know what to go for. If anyone’s seen any similar bargains out there please let me know.

They were probably buzzards mate. (Or ‘tourists eagles’ as bird watchers call them) they regularly fly in groups at this time of the year. It’s the parents and their kids.

excellent tyres.ran them on my c456 at trail centres and on my singlespeed on xc rides and roll pretty fast and are very grippy.
