I’m 6’3″ and a bit and I have a large rocket (hee hee)

I use it for general South Downs titting about and longer (2-3 hr) rides and it’s great.

With a ctd shock and 120-150 talas fork it is remarkably versatile. It is heavy, though. But like everyone says, you don’t really feel the weight until you try to lift it onto the car.

I have a cotic Solaris with exotic carbon forks.

I keep seeing 29er sus forks in the classifieds and thinking about it but I always end up walking away because the bike is so much fun rigid.

It depends what you’re going to use it for, though. Mine is mostly used for sdw stuff but I have done more tech single track on it and it was still a hoot.

Now they’re making a small one so if you’re not a lanky bugger like me you can still enjoy a clown bike.

    Thanks, Dave.

That means the world to me, knowing that you’re a connoisseur of young lads.

you should repost this thread with a more suitable title, something like ‘any good riding near swindon’ – I clicked on this thread expecting to hear about some young lads first love. ahhhh

I’ve known her since we were 4, if that helps. 40 now.

I have a chrome messenger in black and white for sale in the classifieds.

Might be a little too courier chic though.

Although it is waterproof, big (I carried 15″ lappy, drives, clothes etc no probs)

Apologies if this hard sell is inappropriate.

Someone once described parenthood as a series of minor acts of heroism.

    You, sir, are a hero.

    Chapeau.

Mark Williams. Aka Ron weasleys dad in Harry potter. Walking down the street by my work.
I’ve worked with him earlier this year (I’m a cameraman) so we had a little chat. Which was nice.

AvDave, I’ve done my time, the order has been lifted, and your missus has forgiven me. Time for you to move on. :D

First bit was intended as a respectful, heavy post-modern pastiche of the films you may find on the site of a well know luxury brand of cycling apparel.

The second bit is much more Morvelo.

Correct. and a bit of streat beacon

we made em go up a few times.

please have a look at the other Morvelo films or the youtube channel.

Then buy a t-shirt from the new collection out next week.

I worked with him once. I shot a thing for ch4 with him in and he was alright. Started smoking a bit early in the day for my liking, though. He was riding a bike in that one too.

This is all good news. My rocket arrives today. Hubba hubba. Won’t be able to build it up until next week but I’ll be using 120 / 150 Talas forks.

I’ll report back on the climbing as soon as I’ve done some.

I have a chrome messenger. Use it my bike and motorbike.

I’ve put a couple of jiffy bags between the liner and the outer as padding against my back. Works well and built like it wants to last.

    Just ordered a rocket.

Going to build it up week after next.

Got a question – website says the front mech is top pull but every pic looks like it’s a bottom pull.

    Could you confirm?

Good to see one in black with black forks.

Actually not good. I’m going to have to get one.

Rubbish time to buy a new bike but I’ve been working hard and think I deserve some new shiny.

OK, so that’s not much help.

I have a solaris and I love it. But in true STW style I’ve not ridden the Dirty Harry.

I’d imagine the DH to be much more racy.

I suspect you’ve already made up your mind. In these situations I flip a coin. If it lands the way you were hoping, great. If it lands the other way, discount it as a ridiculous way to decide which bike to get and get the one you already know you want.

The central advertising paradox – either it works or it doesn’t. Neither proposition is very palatable.

Either we are easily manipulated or an $86 billion industry is a waste of money.

    how tall are you?

I’m seriously interested but worried that, at 6’3″, I might be a bit big for it.

I know Cy is the same height as me but we’ve established that I’m longer in arm than him (I ride an XL solaris)

I assumed that they were straight when I got them.

Internet purchase from ‘wobble’ so returning them is going to be an a*Se. Might just ge lbs to do it and suck up the cost.

Thanks all, although I’m a bit disappointed to learn that I’m not a hero.

I think the tyres are seated fine. Beads are the same all the way round. Quick check with a finger nail steadied against the frame suggests that the rims are out.

    Thanks guys, all good suggestions.

I think I may have found some carbon forks (cheers Aus).

I’ll be building the bike up over the next few weeks because work has me by the curlies. Still need to buy the frame!

    Hi Sam

    At that price I’m interested.

What’s the A to C on your forks?

And if I sprayed them black would you ever forgive me?
