I bought the French RC ones.

Rode them in Morzine down a mountain. I still have all my teeth.

    Good enough for me.

    Was there last week.

Les gets is drier, if that helps. The trails are more ‘trail centre-ish’ with less in the woods.

Morzine is still pretty muddy (the blues in particular are 3 inch deep slop in places)

It takes 10 mins from the top of the Pleney to get to les gets and the Red run round the back from Les gets to Morzine is great (only a small uphill)

    So my advice is…

If you like trail centres then head to Les gets. If you like more natural riding (and more to do off the bike) then head to Morzine.

Either way you’ll have a blast.

I was riding down through Stanmer park on the way to work and a dog ran straight out in front of me, chasing a ball.
I hauled on the anchors and narrowly missed him.
The lady owner apologised, said “Sorry, he can only think about his balls.”
To which I replied, as I set off again, “I know how he feels.” I felt like Truman Capote.

Had a 3 gen ride, my pop and my boy and me, round the viking loop at Tunstall forest this summer.

Not enough hills or speed for my liking but I’ll never forget it. :D

    Heh! Thanks for the offer.

I’m down south so unlikely to be able to test ride.

    Hi Alex.

Thanks for the reply. I think we were separated at birth.

My name is Alex and I also have a Solaris which I love.

Good to hear your thoughts and now might be the time to offload the rocket for similar reasons to you, they’re very thin on the ground as well which won’t hurt the second hand value.

Enjoyed your blog’ BTW. Good writing.

Alex.I know you have a rocket as well. How does it compare to the pyga?

I’m realizing that I feel too big for 26ers and am seriously thinking of chopping in my rocket against a oneten or something similar.

I’d be interested in your thoughts.

    +1for sennheiser hd25s.

I make videos for a living and have used hd25s for 15 years. I travel a lot and always take them with me. Way better on a plane than the hideous noise cancelling ones and comfy for long periods (often all day)

Good, flat response, no ‘super bass’ nonsense.

Oh, and one of the the pairs I have now are 6 years old, get dropped constantly whilst I’m working and are still going strong, really robust.

Have occasionally strayed from them but I always come back.

I used to use an old karrimor rucksack on my 14mil each way commute. It would get very sweaty.

I got an osprey for my birthday and haven’t looked back. Very comfy, doesn’t get so sweaty and room for (sometimes) 2 macbook pros and some lunch. I often take the offroad route (over South Downs through stanmer park into brighton) and it doesn’t annoy me when it gets a bit bumpy.

Use it on my mountain bike and cross bike. No rack means I’m more inclined to take the fun routes.

Road on the way to work.
    Bridleway and singletrack home.

A mountain biker’s drop bar bike if ever there was.

I have an LX3 as well (I also have a 7D DSLR) and it is amazing. I actually find it too small. Its a bit fiddly to operate in manual mode.

Have been looking lustfully at the Sony RX100ii. Had a play in the shop and it’s next on my list, very nice camera, built like a tank. Not cheap though.

Just about to head out onto the South Downs in the twilight with 2 of my oldest friends who now live in my village.

    Buddies, bikes and beer.

I’ve had a spearfish for a couple of months and I love it.

Mainly south downs riding and off road commuting. So comfy and climbs brilliantly.

    You’ll love it, I’m sure

14 mile commute up and over the South Downs into brighton. Country lane, farm track, ridge line, single track through stanmer park, down to the seafront and topped of by riding along the seafront with a hottie on a chopper. The complete ride.

    Pics available.

    Nice.

Had something similar. It was the ht2 crank bolts on the nds. Not greased and not done up tight enough.
Cleaned, lubed, gorilla’ed them up and it’s all good and stealthy now.

Recently built up a spearfish and it fits my hole perfectly!

There’s enough give in the back to make it comfy for long rides but it doesn’t remove you from the feel of the trail. I bought it on a whim to swap over with my Solaris when I’m in the mood.

I ride the South Downs which,I think, would be a bit dull with any more travel (I have a 150mm 26 as well that I use more for titting about.)

I can also vouch for the shorts. I wouldn’t consider anything else pressed against my buttocks when I’m getting a sweat on.

What was funnier is that the guy riding behind me stopped to have a good laugh and he got stung a few times as well.

He tries to stay in front of me all the time now.

fell onto an underground wasps nest once.

I’d been stung 6 or 7 times before I realised what was going on.

    avoided that trail ever since…

I didn’t direct, I just shot it over a week in Florida in January.

I’m working with him again on another series about cara at the moment. Racing minis at brands hatch last weekend.

I’m a big accadacca fan so I’m a pig in sh.t. Really helps that he’s a super friendly guy.

I could tell you about how he cooked us all (the crew) steaks when we went car racing in Florida, and how he broke out the whiskey at his home bar when we wrapped the shoot but that really would be gloating. And I don’t like to do that.

Don’t want to gloat but I shot this. Career highlight.

He’s a gent and a legend, by the way. Can’t say the same for mensch.

It’s that seat stay bridge that looks tight in all the pics.

It’s going to be a ‘summer’ only bike so I may get away with it…

    Is it any good?

+1 left lane cruiser. (Imagine the black keys really drunk)
Dunno if you like hip hop but they done a record called black roc with some rappers. V good.

On a more southern country blues rock thing try The Brought Low. If you like the black crows, you’ll like them.

Good thread. Lots of new stuff I need to hear. Love me some spotify premium.

    Great stuff.

Wouldn’t have the patience to do a self shot video myself.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but would you take a suggestion from someone who makes videos for a living?

Lose the dissolves. Be bold with hard cuts. It’ll pace it up nicely.
