    Thanks Dave,
The casettes they do look really nice, but I don’t really want to buy a whole casette when i only need two cogs. I might see if there Casettes are compatible with the Sram.

Decided on the Sportiv, just because it has many good reviews wwhere as the Gran Fondo is much less spoken about (not that im saying its not good) just sportiv is a safe bet. Now the decision
    Red one
    Or White one?

Think i might go for it then, although the Gran Fondo looks pretty special, not sure

Haha Ok Pal no worries ;)
    I get a bit defensive ;)

As i was reading that i was thinking, hang on either im stupid or he’s describing an anticlockwise route here!

    Cheers for all your help!

Decision finalised before i changed my mind: One Day-Anticlockwise!

I’m itching to get out on my bike now!

Well, I’m only going on what advice people have given me on it.
And ive started two threads on it.
Well that is what the forum is for!
What would you say monk, a definate clockwise or anticlockwise?
anticlockwise seems more biking but clockwise seems like it gets the hiking out the way quicker.

    lewismorgan

Although a few have also said clockwise!
I think we’ll ask the lads at bothy and see what they say!

    lewismorgan

Doh that should read Anticlockwise, after what Sanny and Messiah have informed me :)

    Everyone says different aha!
I think the Best way is clockwise I.E Aviemore to braemar and then the geldie and then feshie to aviemore.
Fraser that video is brilliant, thats the kind of thing we fancy apart from less pushing, hence the choice of the Lairig An Laoigh.
Haha sanny I really cant wait to and im only coming up for a quick blast!,
and dont worry there’ll be a bottle of the Lagavulin left in the bothy for you ;)
Oh and not forgetting the tangfastics.

    lewismorgan

hahah if it comes to that, we’ll be in corrour bothy in our bothy bags ;)
    cheers pal :)

    fords of avon?
Is this bit here hike your bike buisness then?
right up to linn of dee or is any of it bikable?

    lewismorgan
    Free Member

    Haha ok maybe slight underestimated?
But you think it can be done with an early start, good conditions and a late finish?

    lewismorgan

Is there a lot of hikeybikey on the lairig an laoigh then or s it just around bynack mor?

And your probably right about the length, i just quickly popped it on memorymap.

But if its do-able and the weathers nice, we’ll try it!
Mid Auust there should be plenty of light. :)

    its about 69km,
    should be doable,
the part from glenfeshie isnt too stretching so as long as we can make it to geldie by midday, leaving say 5 or 6 in the morning, we should b back by sunset.
It is a summer route, so should be plenty of light?

    lewismorgan

    summer duir, summer!
maybe a two day forray then!

    lewismorgan

really? so you affectively did it one way?
corrour bothy is always an option, but we’d like to make it in one big day.
I think some chaps posted a video on it ?
    early start late finish

It should be ok, i think we will take lights in case anyway and stop off in braemar for lunch if theres any good chippy recommendations? :)
Im sure worst comes to worst, corrour bothy will crash us for a night!

So in short ride from Aviemore via Glenmore round Bynack More to the Fords of Avon and Lairig Laoigh to Braemar.
Return via Linn of Dee, White Bridge, Geldie, Glen Feshie and don’t forget to ride the bothy trail at grid ref NH 883 056.

    Route sorted :)

    Will be a long day!

Was it this little beauty by any chance :)
The Lairig An Laogh better option than the ghru? Then just do the ghru in an evenng as an out and back one night? :)

With these bothies, do you need permission or a key or anything?
Or is it just a case of turn up and go in :) :)

    lewismorgan

    Sanny,
Thats the route that i was thinking but are the views on that and the riding as good as that found on the ghru as it doesnt really encorporate that? neither does it have the altitude.
How can you cut across from feshie to derry?

    lewismorgan

That doesn’t help with any route advice!

Planning the lairig ghru this year,
really want to do it but a bit nervous about timings and the quality of the ride!
I’ve spotted the corrour bothy and am thinking lairig ghru, sleep here and then back via the Glen Feshie. A two day trip but means we can take it leisurely and take some detours
or is it worth going for a one day blast like in this clip
