Just slightly put off by its “weird” BB why not just use normal external cups?

Think i’m decided on the whippet now, more of a race tweaked XC frame

Have just been looking at forks actually, got some Argyle 409’s on my 4X bike only 100mm but ride as smooth as a babys bum, and spin beautifully on my CK Rockshox have really impressed me !
    http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FORSRERL/rockshox-reba-rl-dual-air-100mm-fork-with-poplock–26-inch
that doesn’t seem a bad price either!

I’m just stuck between the 456 carbon and the whippet really.
Do you think i could push 120mm travel out of the whippet frame?
or will it start to struggle!

    lewismorgan

The whippet looks a bit more pure XC limited to only 100mm travel forks.
The fact that the 456 offers a bit more versatility on the riding and is lightly to take a few more hits draws me towards it!

The Yeti looks and aesthetics are probably winning me over more than the actually frame and its geometry!
My worry with On One is the quality of the frames, Has anyone had any reliablity issues or anything with them? Although you seem relatively happy with them.
The Carbon 456 looks like a great all round frame!

    Yeti Arc is slightly pricey,
Would risk it from JensonUsa at £500 delivered, risk of tax i know but,
i live life on the edge!

Hi Ian if you have any images of the frame you could email me,
    Lewismorgan10@gmail.com
would be great. I’m from Lincolnshire so a bit of a trek! Off Mountain Biking in aviemore soon so could always have the possibility of dropping in. Anyway If you could send us some images would be great!

    burma road in scotland,
took me longer to bike than it did the people walk, made it though!

Hi Guys, Eastcoast direct is by far the cheapest way of doing it, monitor the prices and book two singles its the cheapest way :). A groupsave railcard massively reduces price aswell.
I can’t say it was just price which tempted me, the luxury of having a meal a drink and to relax on the way up is always good, and with 6 of us it’ll be a laugh.
Hired from Bothy Bikes before, There Genesis Bikes are top notch (Y) perfect for the envinronment, and installed confidence in shimano alfine with me! We took the train last time and it was quite something travelling right on the coast, and it’s a fairly fast train also :).

    uplink and thisisnotaspoon,
you can try put the deal down as much as you want, but your failing. For a start we hire bikes down there as we all ride 4X and these are not what we want in Aviemore!
Secondly Why on earth would i want to go on a biking holiday and have my car! I’m getting away from cars and work and going to destress!
Thirdly if you can run two cars from peterborough to aviemore and back for £180 then please let me know what your car is running on?
    And Jon1973, exactly my thinking!

Well all this discussion, its going to have to be a go-er. :)
I’m just pondering on direction i think it will have to be N to S on the LairigL
and then return S to N via feshie.
Will only attempt if weather is good one thinks, as Carn Ban Mor is also one i desperately want to have a crack at!
Paul, i didn’t think there wa sso much walking in the LairigL as the ghru so maybe you took the ghru?

Fantastic :) we are sttarting form Aviemore, and hope to finish in Aviemore, in one day with a bit of luck! I think instead of the braemar tomintoul, we could head back via glenfeshie? I think its meant to be quite a good route. The whole thing is probably not a very enjoyable ride, its just one i want to do! Many people say don’t do it, but this just makes me want to do it! especially for the descents!

Brilliant write up, sounds like a proper trip!
his August we are going to do LairigL with return via glenfeshie, starting and finishing in aviemore. Going to be one demon of a day, especially listening to your write up!
Although i understand Lairig an Laoigh is slightly more bikable?
A well deserved pint at the end ayy!

sorry i meant to say clockwise, so LairigL return via glenfeshie, some say its ridablesome say not, i guess i’ll just have to do it and find out! How long did it take you? and it has to be more ridable than the Ghru. i’ll be happy as long as i get 50% worth of riding out :)
