Loose some of the Xmas thing first?

Sadly that will only reduce to around 95kg. I'm pretty fit.

Plus I thought it was rolling weight that was a killer?

@ Eve Libertine, I'll have a look at the speed kings

Only advice I can give is…..

If they are sand blasting it first be careful to make sure all the sand is gone from the threads/seat tube.

I know first had what a pain in the a$$ this can be. Nothing like an unnecessarily scratched seatpost or stuck bolt.

I recently had a frame painted by Argos (2 pack finish) whilst more expensive the finish is way better than the local PC I use.

    Just a thought.

I ride a silver pair (v & disc) on my Voodoo Canzo.

I weigh 100kg and the bike has 5'' of travel at either end.

I have given them a fair beating and they are still true with the freehub still working

I also run 2.35'' Maxxis Minnion tyres on them and again this set up works fine.

I guess they are more XC than anything else and only time will tell….

I have run Vidars for years with no problems at all.

I have used their UK service centre for both brakes and forks and have found them to be fantastic in their service.

As others have said maybe worth a try.

    @ glenp & headfirst

I run silent hubs on all my bikes and appreciate the silence like you both do but just fancy something different of a SS build, saves me having a bell too

Cheers for the suggestions chaps, I'll keep an eye out in the sales for a Pro II

Merry Christmas All & thank you again.

Guess it depends on the output of the stoves.

Mine (Aga) are both circa 4kw output and sit in openings that have been plastered – I have got minor cracking of the plaster but nothing a quick repaint doesn't sort every now and then.

not very helpful I'm afraid

your not ruling out custom, but a niner is out of your budget? what yo bin on the loopy juice?

    No loopy juice….yet.

Just meant either buying a complete bike or a frame and fork and building up to my own spec.

Are there many Swift riders on here?

I have a set bought from JE James (2009) on my Canzo (130mm version)

I'm not massively techy when it comes to forks only owning a Reba Race and a couple of older pairs of Marzocchi's but the Recon's do exactly what I want them to do.

I ride pretty hard and am 100kg and so far (like the Reba's) have been faultless.

    Hope this helps???

I run a radially laced Spinergy Spox R1 from many moons ago on the front of one of my bikes.

There is lots of carbon and plastic bits (accountable for the 660g weight)but the wheel has never faltered after many years of use. Plus I weight 100kg

The newer one (if I had the money) would be a definate option when considering new wheels.

I too bought a 20'' Canzo frame recently from Halfrauds, not quite as low a price as yours but nearly

Mine as far as I can tell is a 2007.

Built mine up at the start of October…..Love it.

By all means drop me an email if you want any more info

    Hi Fella,

I weigh about 100kg and apart from forks and bars have found little in the weigh (  ) of weight limits.

That said IIRC some shocks do have a lowish maximum pressure that by proxy could limit rider weight.

Should be fine on nothing to whippety

Not London based but Argos Cyclesare excellent at repairs, customer service etc.

Whilst they do not specialize in Ti it may be worth a phonecall? I've used them a number of times – they also take in repairs via the post rather than traveling to Bristol.

    Hope this may help….

    Coolio.

Any suggestions now as to where from?

    letmetalktomark

I ran a Salsa Cro Moto for a while on a bike desinged for 80mm travel and it performed flawlessly – IIRC its 420- 425 axle to crown.

Nice light (for steel) straight blade or that is v, disk and mudguard compatible.

    Dang…..that looks sweet.

I lust over a bespoke Hi end modern Ti frame like that.

I think I would cut short my holiday, leave the Mrs LMTTM there and get home and build the bike……in the lounge

Post up pics on completion please :D

Kit: I'm glad that you were not seriously injured helmet or not.

IMHO and its just that MHO…..

I would rather wear my helmet on even the "lowest risk rides" as:

    a) something completely unexpected may happen
    b) my maths is too poor to continually work out probabilities for every eventual riding environment
    c) I ride for fun, I don't want to risk loosing that fun for even the shortest period of time and if a helmet MAY preserve this fun then thats the route I will always look to take

Remember kids, don't lean safety by accident.

On a sidenote TJ would you use similar probability theory, or suggest it be used, in the use of a condom? Low risk sex vs high risk sex.

BTW this isn't meant to antagonize or lower the tone just interested* :D

*please keep experiences to an overview

    Rich,

Mine uses a RS MC3.3 rear shock (lockout, motion control etc) and my forks are RS Recon 351 both 130mm travel.

I have had mine since the start of September having bought it NOS. I think mine is a 2007/8 model.

    Anymore info just ask.

The brand has a good name behind them, they just aren't all that well known over here.

    Hi Fella,

I own one of the new Canzo's here >>

    Excuse the poor picture

Mine is a 20'' and I'm about 6'3'' and running a 100mm stem at the moment. My understanding is that the sizes are pretty similar to the Kona range as its more akin to my 20'' Kona than my 19''

With regards to failures these were hardtail related. If you search on here I asked a similar question a while back and a chap from Sideways cycles clarified this.

I have complete confidence in mine. I weigh 100kg and ride reasonably hard…but I guess any frame can break.

    I'll have a look for that thread…..

    I have a pair of these for commuting – still seem to be waterproof after a couple of years use;

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=9273

    I had seen these…seem a good price.

But are they breathable as they claim them to be?

Also would you consider the fit suitable for off the bike walking etc? (I'm not talking high street, rather field!)

    Stoner: That is lovely

    Ti?

What size is it? I typically ride a 19'' or 20'' and when you through 29'' wheels into the equation they typically look like gates – but yours looks 8)

I presume what you are looking for is not a full waterproof full-day-in-the-hills over trouser but more of a showerproof for an hour or so trouser that you can wear in public?

I guess so :? The longest I tend to be out with the dog is only a couple of hours max at the moment and I'm fed up of the water running of my jacket and soaking my trousers  And on the bike…only 30 minutes max.

    thomthumb – Member

    shorts. get shorts

For normal riding I agree but for just out and about I'm fed up of my boots filling up with water from run off!

Cheers for the suggestions Eddie, I'll get googleing :-)
