that works out about £1k a stone :-)

well done, great incentive, enjoy your reward :-)

The argument works the other way though. If I turn up at a trail centre on an old hardtail, the 3k bike boys assume I’m a rubbish rider. I think that’s more common than the OPs original point. What they don’t know though is how many times you’ve been Jedi’d or been to skills courses.

what does it matter what you turn up in, to me its the person who cares what other people think who has a problem, not the person doing the judging.
enjoy what you have, enjoy what other people have or can do with what they have and aspire more to better skills (if thats what you want) and better kit once you can afford it.
Dont forget as well, if nobody bought the new stuff, the old stuff would probably cost much more and be harder to get.

what has it got to do with anyone else what bike they have and how much it cost?
ive got a nice bike (a mojo) and its probably more bike than i have skill for. But i am getting better and im going on a uk skills course in november.
ive bought the best bike i can afford, im getting used to it, im getting better and one day i hope i will be good enough for what it can offer me.
i find that having a nice bike also inspires me to want to get better and take it out and ride it.
i love looking at other peoples bikes and get real pleasure out of seeing a nice bike.
Just the other day, a rider had a nicer bike than mine, but had never seen a mojo in the flesh aand was really glad to have seen one.
Also its a beautiful looking piece of equipment which i would be happy just looking at let alone have the chance to ride it as well.
im 61 and if i want to and can afford buy a nice bike why shouldnt I?
whats it to do with someone else

Maybe this is a way to look at it
You can buy a thing of beauty to look at and admire, in the case of a gorgeous bike after you finish looking at it you can go and ride it too.

What exactly do you mean Lester? The adapter itself doesn’t have any moving parts?

the pin inside the pump on mine was a little too proud and has a small washer it wasnt until i pushed the pin and the washer back that it engaged properly.
mine is a magura pump with little levr that you click down which engages, a bit like a normal pump lever, maybe this is what you need?

on mine i had to look into the end that screws onto the fork/shock and push the internals away a little bit from the open end
this allowed it to screw on further and thus open the valve on the fork/shock

ive got some oakley prescripton m frames, with a dark lens and a clear lens.
i bought them from ebay where they were sold as 2.5, i thought they were + 2.5 just for reading, but they werent, they were thicker ( for long sightedness)
so they are available if you want to take a chance

ive just put a set on my fireline, mainly because the ardent and minions left no clearance at the rear, they seem very nice from 1 rides experience.
crappy decals though, but for £19.99 its fine by me

Really? What would be the harm in cutting it or not cutting it? Honest question. I don’t understand why anybody would even ask this.
    I’m confused.

well for a start this is a biking site so you could be biking instead of mowing:-)

my garden takes 8 hours to cut properly, mainly because it isnt flat or square and there are lots of trees in the way, this time of year i have lots of fruit and apples to clear before i start mowing.
i get 2 weekends off in 3, so any option to save one cut a year at least is well worth it for me

i shout “there are 10 of us” every now and again

    Genuine LOL at this.

I expect one day someone will shout back
” if there are 10 of you, how come there is only one set of lights?”

    i do too,
and as i said in an earlier thread,

i turn my rear light off
play loud music on my mp3
i shout “there are 10 of us” every now and again
and i call the missus as soon as i get out
its a great way to get the adrenaline going and to be truthful im more worried about having my bike taken than it is about me being hurt

    no not joking ;-)
    from high beach staarting point
away from the cafe towards the pub turn right and the left into the woods, pretty muddy, go through woods to next road and across into woods, front wheel went into mud by 2 foot, yuk muddy, wet feet and squealy breaks. i dont know that many trails in epping, but away from tea hut with the pub on your left and into woods, it was all muddy in there, so i presumed everywhere was. lots of leaves also, hiding the trails a bit, which was a laugh.
i will try out your route Saturday or sunday
    cheers Lester

i constantly shout “there are 10 of us”

“but the other 9 forgot their lights”

i know, but it makes me feel better shouting it :-)
(dont forget there isnt actually anyone there, except Badgers, foxes, wolfs, and maybe a Yeti ho ho)

definitely not as you are self employed.
cant you work longer hours one day and a shorter next day so that you can get a ride in?

if i cycle on my own at night in the woods,
i dont leave my rear light on
    i have a loud mp3
i constantly shout “there are 10 of us”

and i dont ride up brokeback mountain

just do one hour when you get home a few times a week, get your gear ready in the morning , really push it and have a nice well earned shower afterwards.
in the winter you dont have much choice as the it gets darker earlier, so its either night rides or weekends

havent you got a mate who can do night rides with you. im doing a night ride tonight in epping.

i read somewhere that if you have set your bike up correctly, that the front wheel axle should be hidden by your bars. my bike is very comfortable and the axle is hidden, might be a coincidence but it works for me

I didnt send emails i called direct.
no these problems shouldnt exist and maybe if someone else was selling the product i wanted at the price they are then maybe i would try elsewhere, but they arent.
at the end of the day i have got what i wanted and the problems have been resolved and not ignored or refuted. It could have been a lot worse

Just a thought, if it is the stolen bike, how would you know that was the scrote that stole it?
when i look in the for sale forums, rarely do i see anyone ask if the seller has proof he came by it legally. i have also bought stuff and not asked if it is the sellers legal property. a pretty grey area that we either hope for the best, choose to ignore or go by gut feeling

    Lester

if you have to ask….. no need to be sarcastic lol haha
yes i knew it wasnt a good idea, but i cant bring myself to sell my frames, i know i wont use them if i build other bikes so it would be a waste, doh

    i was thinking
    29er full suss
    29er hardtail

    26incher 150/160
    and 456 hardtail

dont think if you have 29ers and 26ers you would need the 650b

can still keep the same rotor sizes
i dont think its too much hassle, but the rubber might be an issue, hadnt thought of that

you dont need a handlebar mount
the box it comes in has a spare dummy mount which you can take off and drill a hole in it and use it instead of a top cap on stem.
also the mike is crap, you really need an external mike, but that means you have to drill a hole in the casing if you keep it in the casing.
oh and you need the bluetooth app for your phone so you can see the playback and when to start etc

dont think i made myself clear doh, the 2 covering the same riding style includes the desireability of ti. i think this is a poorly authored thread, i should have added carbon in the choice of bikes as well.
maybe i should of asked which 3 bikes covers style and function?
