I’m astonished at the amount of digging that’s been going on. Chapel house woods was riddled, and the same in grizedale. I’m not sure quite why people assume the can just build trials on other peoples land.

Doubt you can move the fence, probably set by visibility splays. I’d be seeding it with wild flowers and strim it a couple of times a year.

If it revs off load and stutters under load it’ll be spark. Fresh fuel and assuming it has points fresh clean points and it’ll be golden.

I reckon the points gap has closed and the fuels off so it won’t go with a weak spark.

We’ve gone for the cannondale option. It’s not bad, the forks move and the cable discs seem ok. I’m saving bigger investments until he’s on a 26er in two years or so.

I always liked the idea of pudding themed rides. Bakewell tart, Eccles cake, Cartmel sticky toffee pudding, bury black pudding etc..

a snack and a ride. What could go wrong?

Surely racing Ralph’s is where it’s at? for dry summer use, or a nobby up front and a Ralph out back?

Have a look at Stuart Models for casting kits. I’m making a 10v. It’s a deeply satisfying process.

I’ve been very happy with the cj18 Amadeal. It’s done everything I asked of it. It’s now accompanied by a Sieg mini mill… it’s an addictive hobby!

@continuity that is what I’ve learned. I didn’t know it before, I do now.

I found a graph and became curious. I’m neither fit nor fast. I’m regular person who may be occasionally curious.

If you don’t have a power meter to use to train to and have no intention of using power to train; why do you need to know your functional threshold power? Why do you want to know?

    @continuity
I thought I might learn something. The old adage if you measure it you can manage it type thing.
My interest was peaked when the graph showed me initial to be only in z1 and z7. That seemed odd. By playing the figures I can ascertain that strava thinks I have an FTP of 300w or so and we know that’s it’s all conjecture and bobbins.

    We live and learn.

Wait; do you have a power meter or not?

If you have a power meter, why are you using strava’s estimated power figure?

If you don’t have a power meter, how are you planning to gauge training based upon zones?

    Why don’t you just do a ramp / 20min / 2×8 min test?

    I don’t understand the question.

I don’t have a power meter. I do use strava. My FTP was estimated at 200w (2w per kilo)
Now strava does some nice estimated graphs which I wondered if they would / could be of use. (After all someone has created this stuff)
However the graphs use my estimated FTP which is self evidently wrong.
Hence wondering what it should / could be.
I know recognise that the estimated graphs are only for people who have actual figures from a power meter and do not relate to my efforts.

I’ve pushed it up to 250w that gives me 43mins in z7 still. Is that realistic?

They can be… don’t drive the six pot cdi350 if you can’t afford it. It’s like being fired silently into hyperspace.
I put 140,000 miles on a CLK fitted with the same motor. Only ever needed tyres and basic services.

No experience of this myself, but thinking about me dad who was diagnosed with heart failure. He’s back out doing 30-40miles on the road. It’s been a long gentle process.

Speak to the docco and keep posting here.
There’s a good bunch of people here who will support you.

How about using the bike to bimble the shops to start with then build from there.

Take care of you and keep talking it’s clearly going to be a change for a bit.

Beard trimmer on and around the spuds to help with cooling. Do not go for the full polish up. Just a tidy of the vegetable garden.

No problem is you have the right attitude. I’ve owned 4 houses. 3 of which have unadopted roads.

When it needs work get out and give it some. I’ve got a few days works to sort the drainage and relay part of ours. I could go chasing money from the lane owner but it’s an estate road and as long as a 4*4 can pass it’s not a problem to them.

    Cartmel randomly expensive.

I had a place in Cark for a while. Lovely village.
