Welding is easy. Metal prep is harder. Get a mig and get cracking.

When you’ve looked at waterfalls think about this. One day a tiny walking worm decided it’s best chance of success was to invent the sleeping bag and become a flying machine.

I’ve got new shoes, I’ve been stretching and I’ve got some compression socks. We’ll see what tomoz holds. If not it’ll be a week off to recover

Cark is a fine village as is allithwaite, cartmel has the scene tax but it’s a nice spot. Few of us used to meet from the engine in Cark.

If i wasn’t where I am then I’d be back in Cark in a heartbeat

slightly disappointed that it’s just water and a wipe, not a ‘proper clean’ as I call it

Tell me it’s an original Mini not a BMW! I want to know what that is like to drive 🙂

It is indeed an original mini. Late 60’s mk2. Further reports on driving once the hairdryer is in the noisy cupboard

We’ve been building a go kart and he’s been helping me on my supercharger project on my mini.

I think your convincing me sooner rather than later is a good plan.

SUPing is scary wind dependent. I think i can do about 4.5 km/h on a iSUP but it wouldn’t take much of a head wind to reduce that to zero

We did a sesh on loch Ken a few weeks back. Five miles upwind into 13mph winds gusting to 33mph. It’s quite doable but a bit of technique and power is needed to make headway.

Re tides and such like. That’s voodoo. I’m lakes based.

What would be a decent paddle for you? Ten miles is pretty doable for most people over a few hours. It’s a nice way to explore the path less trodden.

I’ve done a fair bit of supping, those Mcconks boards are great in whitewater – super stable. But going anywhere. Bloody hell it’s hard work. If you can’t do a j style paddle with a twist to stay on one side your buggered. I’d suggest a beginner would soon be deeply frustrated.

    Too much money,
    Too little imagination.
I’ll probably repent on my death bed, oh how I wish I watched more telly.

Wind it in a bit. You sound like a dick.

It’s unlimited fibre BB, sports packages and full box sets and cinema. Package got bulked up in lockdown.
We have it for the F1 – that passes for religion in this house.
I’d be fairly comfy at £90 or so.

There are some cracking pop up sites appearing on pitch up. Grab a few places not far apart and get stuck in.

There’s a bit of stuff about. Nothing to wild but some decent enough XC stuff. Greenham common and out towards the ridgeway and water ship down

I’ve used a white water board. I wouldn’t buy one unless that’s your gig, for me it’s a compromise too far. I can run basic rapids on my 10’6” jobe Yarra.

Most of my stuff is trying a bit of distance a bit of glide helps!

How did the old bolts get bent if they aren’t under lateral load.
I wouldn’t be driving that. Drop the subbie properly and work out how to repair it.
Wanging an oversize imperial bolt up it is not a fix.

That’s heavy. The fault lies (very sadly) with the driver who pulled out. Ultimately they put the car into that position.

Hope you can rationalise it through.

Don’t conflate building regs with planning. Planning let you build it. Building regs specify the how.

Just because planning signs it off doesn’t mean it’s even buildable.

I’d suggest a full building regs submission is in order.

Are you submitting buildings regs or on a notice? We’ve done much the same as you. Full BR and no fire specialists not a problem.

Where are these “real” boards made then? I think you’ll find it’s not by dudes in small shacks between discussions about how the ethos of SUP has been exploited by ruthless corporates. 🤣

I think the point being made is those brands design and develop and have it made vs choose an off the peg design and rebrand it.
No ones denying it all comes from China

Nah a general play board will cope fine with that. I have a 14’ tourer and a 10’6”
The long uns great for going places and the other ones more playful

    lesgrandepotato
    Full Member

What do you want to do with it? Touring? Whitewater? Pottering?
For general use something about 10”6’ and 15cm thick will be spot on.

Whitewater is shorter. Touring is much longer.
