E Class merc, big engine, automatic. Audio books and crack on. Used to routinely drive my e class coupe to Staines in a single run. I live in Cumbria. You need something effortless

I’ve opened a bottle of Floki tonight. Dear lord it makes laphroig taste like Vimto. It’s the smokiest thing I’ve ever tasted. More testing required I think!

Off to find a torque wrench that does 4 nm counter-clockwise…Posted 12 minutes ago

I’d just twizzle it clockwise for a feel of what 4nm is like. Then do it backwards. It’s really not much at all.

Walnuts? Just crack them in your hands like a real man.

I think the key thing is that it’s not really personal. It smarts at the time, but give it a few months when you’ve settled it’ll be old news.

First, you should join a club and learn to do it properly. There are safety protocols involved, equipment required and likely insurance as well. Unless plastic bows using arrows with suckers on the end are being used, in which case you’re probably ok.

I’d be interested to know what sort of equipment used and situation the archery was taking place in. I’ve only been doing it since August, but the club is very strict about etiquette and behaviour and where we can shoot.

Indeed lots to learn including how and where a range can be set. How to string bows, fletch arrows etc, manage a range and how to teach it. As it happens I use the range in our hut, or set a suitable outdoor one in line with Archery GB regs. But you don’t need to know all that to start having a bit of a fun and learning a new skill.

Archery? I learned a little to teach at Scouts etc. Oddly satisfying

How short is it? I’d be giving it a glug of water to bring it up a small amount.

scaledFree MemberI’m definitely not a cub leader, just a parent helper.

That’s my new mantra that i was telling myself stood in the pissing rain last Sunday, and while I was dealing with a screaming kid on the canal while night kayaking Monday night!

I just can’t commit to the time with full time jobs that /could/ take me or the Mrs away for a week at a time and leave us unable to do the scouting thing and let the kids down.

Nobody can, so in our group we focus on volunteering communities. Tonight our ‘leader’ for cubs couldn’t make it. The world rolls on as the team knows what to do. I’m a GSL I struggle for time, but everyone does. Don’t make it a barrier to play, thank you for what you do. It’s making memories for the young people and that’s vital.

They have really good detail drawings on the velfac site. They are pretty specific on how the fit in and the details are fairly complex…

That said once you’ve got a feel for how they work measuring up is only mildly terrifying

We have velfac,  speak to the manufacturer, velfac trained our fitters to install them

    Ooops sorry it’s 5 goes each so it’s 9999C5 X 50

    lesgrandepotato

That seems wrong at 1:40 each one is 9999 choose 1.
Each subsequent pin does not affect any previous one (e.g could be duplicate Pins)

    So the answer is 9999C1 X 50

King Street? If you know the city then the boundaries are pretty easy to remember (M8 to High Street to river then Kingston Bridge) but I guess if you’re too busy navigation you could miss it.

Yeh. That’s pretty much it. I could cope with not going in. The big 4×4 is my choice. But it would have helped knowing the city. Either way the world won’t end for an occasional fine.
If it’s making the difference suggested above it’s good thing.

I noticed the 60 quid fine and not the signage in a different city parking for GnR recently…

It seems I strayed a 100yds into the zone.

I’m somewhat torn on them. I think I’d rather people acted responsibly and used vehicles appropriately.

I drive an oldish 4×4. I live on a single track dead end road in Cumbria. I work from home and it spends most of its time hauling scout gear about.

I wonder about taxation classes based on home addresses? Or just rolled into the fuel duty?

We have one. I like it. Originally on our type 2 veedub. Currently on the jeep. It’s a faff to fit and remove.

it’s like having a mobile treehouse.  Quick to erect, quick to drop. Pita to dry and service.

    I love it.

there is a parallel thread in which someone’s asking for English words to get tattooed……

Don’t know about tattoos, but JDM cars often have wonderful meaningless English phrases on them.
My JDM MR2 had ‘a man in dandism, midship powered speciality’

I think there is precedent for each side.

Not a lot of leather on a dog. Suggest a chaise longe if it’s a really big dog, or a cushion if it’s small.

Worth bearing in mind if they are raising the ground by more than 30cm for the deck / seating it’ll need planning

Seriously, you are talking about 10mins walk from bays brown. They don’t need a booking and it’s cheap.

    Just use a site.

Throw yourself at it! It can be so rewarding

What he said, I’m a GSL it’s part maddening and very rewarding. If you’ve had a tough session look for the faces of the kids and think about the lives you’ve enriched.

    It’s a very rewarding pastime.

Let me write a bit more about my experience. We undertook a major remodelling of our house. The concepts by the architect were good but the downstands and pillars in my view were detrimental to the feel we wanted.

We found an SE who got the concept and designed to meet the brief. Yes it was harder to build. Yes it causes more compromise elsewhere. Yes it was worth the effort.

Find the right SE the problem can be solved

Did the via algarviana in 2020. It can be relentlessly hilly. I’d love to go back. Don’t assume that the more remote areas will speak English.

You need calcs for a solution that solves your problem. So you are going to need an SE that gets what you are trying to do.

This might not be the one you have at moment

Jeep GC here had HT’s on, moved to a set of mild AT’s Cooper ATT’s. Maybe lost 1-2 mpg, no noticeable change in volume. They are great in most stuff apart from deep mud / wet clay.

I’ve been rolling a jeep grand Cherokee for a few months. It’s comfy, has a massive flat load area. Just use it responsibly as it’s a bit drinkie

They are up at Waddecar this week doing some back woods survival type thing. My lad has a lift up tonight and I’m picking them up on Sunday.

    Waddecar bushcraft village is ace!

Hmm, you’ve done 3k+ miles in a 4K car? I think you’re reliant on good will here.

I think that at that level of travel you are going to struggle to prove it was preexisting on what’s a pretty cheap motor.

What you want is a brise soleil. Might not suit a Victorian terrace.
