    Thanks folks.

    £389 to 315 for 30 minutes work on the comparison site. There’s more insurance than ever about these days. It used to be just Marks and Spencer.

    Thanks

    `Ooooh yes. There is a diamond cover underneath the rubber hood if i pull it back far enough.

    On removal there is a tiny horizontally mounted reservoir, which needs the bike to be level to fill it.

    The horizontal cable routing under the bar tape is going to make bleeding interesting. I think I’ll have to take the bar tape off to chase out the bubbles by making the cables not-horizontal. I’ll try the lazy approach first.

    It was half full until i press the brake to pump out the air. Now it’s empty and no brake at all now. I’ll get the tissues. Every day is a school day. Feel free to laugh. I am. LOL!

    Does anyone know how to attach images from my phones gallery, or is there still only the link to URL option (IMG).

    Elite direto is £600. I don’t have any apple stuff.

    Halfords seem to have lots of morr basic Elite  trainers for under £200.  Are they any good for zwift?

    I guess I’m looking for the cheapest zwift system now.

    What i actually did in the end.

    See

    https://www.edinburghairport.com/prepare/airport-maps

    Choose the terminal map (top one)

    We drove into

    “Terminal surface car park”

    Met everyone at top right corner next to “pick up” area.  They had free trolleys. unloaded bikes.

    I paid £3.  And parked at the offsite ncp car park for £37 for a week.

    It was good.

    On the way back there were only 5 bikes conning back, so we just put them on the courtesy bus to the ncp car park, 50m from where we dropped off.

    I’m impressed with Edinburgh Airport.

    Good point. I’ll be surprised if a TRO is in place.

    It makes commuting a nightmare if I divert and the road is very picturesque. I wouldn’t drive over there if I thought there was a realistic risk of me crashing.

    I appreciate someone else might crash and block the road and delay me, but it’s a risk I’m prepared to take. In 15 years its only happened once and I managed to help the person who had crashed.

    I have to tolerate the withering looks of work colleagues who tell me I’m a bad person, but i tell them the closure is just to help balance the council’s budget with gritting and police being involved with inexperienced users having accidents.

    It’ll help if I can quote the Law. I’ll look up TROs in my area. Thanks for that start.

    I’ll get it on the weigh bridge. The owner put the weights in writing.

    It is a Vauxhall Movano box van conversion, so understandably solid. Which is good. Floors are sound.

    The current owners said the payload is 880kg full of fuel, when they put it on a weigh bridge. So, yes, you’re right it is not ideal. Wife and daughter + water + kit + hay + etc.. will have to be careful.

    Need to get horse & wife on a diet.

    I’m up to speed with the weight thing. It has 880kg payload and we have a 500kg horse to go in, so it’s not much, but I thunk were ok. I’ll get a weigh bridge certificate.

    It would be interesting to see some payback calls for various home demands.

    I’m going to start logging our electric use closely, so I’ve got facts.

    mikewsmith – you’re right if you have a £300 box, and a £3000 bike and you see packing bikes as therapy. The 190 euro is £164 and some folk don’t have decent bikes. All don’t have decent bike bags. We’ve all got the bags rather than the boxes. Mine still bears the scars that I observed from the plane window as a baggage handler dragged my bag across the tarmac. Easyjet wouldn’t pay-out. I couldn’t get camera out fast enough. Thanks for the link. Much appreciated.

    …. and you’re not giving money to Ryanair

    Bluebird – thanks – I’ll try that. Factor in also….transport to/from airport. Disassemble/Pack/unpack/Reassemble/Wear and tear/Disassemble/Pack/unpack/Reassemble. Risk of damage during transport. Some folk don’t have good bikes.

    Others – Ryanair fly there and it is convenient for riding the second half of the dolomite raid. £100 without bike.

    Good info. I’ll start doing more research in those areas now you’ve given me a bit of direction. Ski Touring is where I’m aiming for. Time away with the boys going from hut to hut, but I’ve no real experience yet. A mate gave me some old skis and boots (that rub a bit). I was thinking of taking my skis, skins and boots out with me. The kit is 20-30 years old. I’m planning to use them in the Lakes this winter, where I live.

    Thanks for the advice. Any more appreciated too.

    Aye 10% off off is poor on Black Friday. You’d think they were just shifting all the stuff they couldn’t normally sell to the gullible who have money burning a hole in their pocket.

    Any Mac Air i5 or pros deals about.

    Daughter doing product design at uni next year and this is apparently what she needs. I’ve saved up and was thinking about January sales, but you guys normally know better.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for all your advice.
    Midlifecrashes. … good call with the Bass Pro Shop. It was terrifying. Crossbows, knives and guns freely for sale with signs beside them saying “No Trespassers. We shoot first, then if you’re still moving we shot again”.

    Disney was utter garbage. I didn’t get it. As said above there are so many thrills on our bikes that are easy better. I don’t think the kids had enough fun to justify the costs. It was like 70s and 80s TV…the Creepy Disney fans were a worry.
    Everything is so expensive now, especially with the exchange rate. 2 to 3 times the cost of the UK.
    The Trump supporters were f is disturbing too. Angry people with weapons! I steered well clear of giving my opinion unless asked.
    I hope next year I get my turn to do a family adventure that involves exploring wildernesses and meeting the locals.
    50 weeks of fun at home to look forward to now.

    Brilliant folks. Best advice so far. We’ve got a hire car. Keep it coming. I’ll absorb all that after getting back from EPCOT which I’m locked into today.
    BTW I’m happy with the whole thing now that the money is spent. I’ll report back later.

    Bluetooth on phone is off. I’ll remove movescount from phone too.

    Batteries dead… it shouldn’t make the watch not look for it. I’ll try a mates strap.

    I’ll repair later and a full reset sounds good if that doesn’t work.

    Thanks. The calendar just gives the next event.
    I used to be able to see all future and past events for just that group. I’m in a few groups, so it’s a shame the option seems to have gone.

    I can go to my time line and see ALL THE events for ALL the Groups (under events). Wonder why they’ve done that backward steps.

    Thanks for giving me my life back. The last update took away the way i used to create events on the “i” option.

    The “i” option used to show upcoming events and old events. Any idea where that has gone? Sorry to ask.

    Good info from CTC. It says

    Is cycling really that dangerous?

    No. In general, cycling in Britain is a relatively safe activity.

    Using official road casualty and road traffic reports, population stats and the National Travel Survey, CTC calculates that, on average:
    ?One cyclist is killed on Britain’s roads for every 27 million miles travelled by cycle – the equivalent to over 1,000 times around the world;
    ?Each year, there are 8 million cycle trips for every cycling death;
    ?The general risk of injury from cycling in Great Britain is just 0.048 injuries per 1,000 hours of cycling.

    Also:
    ?According to a paper that looked at sports injuries, tennis is riskier than ‘outdoor cycling’ (5 injuries per 1,000 hours for tennis, 3.5 for cycling). ‘Rowing machine exercise’ came in at 6 injuries per 1,000 hours;
    ?You are more likely to be injured in an hour of gardening than in an hour of cycling;
    ?As mentioned above, the health benefits of cycling outweigh the injury risks by between 13:1 and 415:1, according to various studies.

    These facts, together with the reference sources, are included in our road safety briefing (link http://www.ctc.org.uk/campaigning/views-and-briefings/road-safety-and-cycling-overview).
