Well I’ve checked the passwords that could be in there and SSH won’t let me in at all.
I’ve flashed the image to a spare SD card and will set up as a new station, we’ll soon find out if it is a Pi software thing.
lerkFree MemberNothing like that I can see in the manual for the router.
The thick plottens though… my SSH client can’t log in to the pi with it’s stored username and password.
lerkFree MemberCan’t see any short in the socket.
I’ve got dumb hubs but no switches.
lerkFree MemberAha, plugged pi direct into the router again and reboot initiated in <5 mins…
With the different cable.Will reflash.
lerkFree MemberMay have spoken too soon, 5 hours after reinstalling in place with a new Ethernet cable it has just rebooted again…
lerkFree MemberI must have read your minds, I pulled the pi from the loft this morning as it would be easier to work with.
Plugged directly into the router using the same patch cable and within minutes (before I even connected the hdmi) the router had rebooted after over 24hrs stable running.
Swapped over the patch cable for a longer one to get me closer to the tv (the hdmi cable I found was a 1m tiddler!) and resumed testing – As an aside I was right the pi24 image is set up without desktop. It hasn’t been long enough to be certain, but there is definitely a good chance that it is working.
Bearing in mind that the problem was initiated by only a software factory reset of the router, it still seems weird that it should be a hardware (cable) fault.
lerkFree MemberThe fr24 image is set up without booting to desktop, I normally access it through SSH.
Can I run tcpdump through that?lerkFree MemberWas on the latest firmware, tried rolling back to a previous version and now gone back to the latest.
The fr24 image has not been changed (to my knowledge) at the time the problem started – I believe there is an upgrade back door for fr24 to maintain the feeder, but it is unlikely that they sent an update just at the time that I carried out a factory reset of the router.
Ditto any hardware issues.
Capturing tcp packets is beyond my skill set – any hints on how to accomplish that?
lerkFree MemberWell it’s been up for the past 5 hours with the pi connected by Ethernet but not powered on, so it looks like a pi software issue.
I did grab the syslog from the router before I’d worked out which device was causing me issues. I’ve sent that off to draytek support as there was nothing meaningful that I could see (exception codes that I couldn’t find a decoder for)…
Fortunately it’s dead simple to flash the fr24 image and start again, although I wouldn’t mind working out the problem properly.
The next worry of course is whether there is something nefarious doing something akin to a DoS attack, although when I was watching the data flow nothing was apparent.
I might have to investigate the security of the pi, although I’m certain that I changed to a secure password when I set it up.lerkFree MemberNope, that was my first thought but it is on a fixed address in a reserved range.
By way of an update, after around an hour the router rebooted again.
I disconnected the power to the pi but left the network cable attached and it has been stable for a couple of hours nowlerkFree Memberdavosaurusrex
Full MemberHmmm, so as it stands it’s statutory for employers to give one weeks notice for every year up to a maximum of 12. Guess how long I’ve worked there? Why, just over 12 years!
I think you’re getting confused with redundancy notice there…
lerkFree MemberWe used some on a big construction project and found that you really don’t want many photos otherwise you have a very boring video.
I have used my gopro to time lapse a 4-6 hour job which worked well, but other than for key moments (building the roof rafters?) you could probably get away with a couple of photos per day and blend them rather than creating a video. You might even get away with just creating a solid position for your phone camera so you can just go and take identically framed photos manually…lerkFree MemberWays into mental health without years and years of training
Murder a few people, chop up and bury the bodies, then blame it on the voices.
You’ll probably get the full residential package!
lerkFree MemberWe have a phone answering machine (remember them?) that some idiot designer decided to make polite.
Answers unknown numbers immediately and after the welcome and beep starts recording the message about new boilers, windows security or whatever other bollocks companies call landlines for, then after the call hangs up (remember that this is how it knows to stop recording because the call has finished) announces “thank you for calling”…
lerkFree MemberThe other factor for Virus Vs Delivery is that once you have handled the trays, you are yards from your own sink…
We have developed a routine of rigorous hand washing on return to the house which also involves washing after any interaction at the door. When you finish shopping you have at best a squirt of sanitiser.
For this reason I also consider my car to be an unclean area (and clean regularly) and require proper hand wash as soon as practical after a journey.
lerkFree MemberWe’ve never queried it and just grab them to dump onto the sofa.
Never had a complaint as we generally take less time to offload the trays than the driver does to find them on the van!lerkFree MemberSome of my subscriber list

As per DrP – wintergaten (although he just needs to finish the bloody thing now!)lerkFree MemberAnother returning to skating here, bought a pair of SEBAs after lockdown v1 as since moving house local cycling is not possible/worth it.
Last skated 25 years ago and am considerably heavier than then – in my mind it would be just like riding a bike, but it has been a slow struggle to regain balance, turning and stopping ability. Really struggled to grow a pair to increase speed beyond a fast walk.I’ve been availing myself of the local school car park which is sort of smooth and sort of flat. I’m getting ready to venture out on the roads of my estate but wanted to be sure of my speed control first.
Makes the feet ache but I’m loving it!
Besides a few Facebook groups which cover quad skating and are mainly full of teenage girls or middle age mums dancing on the spot, there isn’t much of an online community that I’ve found.
lerkFree MemberI was excited about MSFS2020 until it was released.
Given that my simulator has surpassed the cost of my bikes, the £120 software cost wasn’t a massive pill to swallow – but I was busy with work at release so I didn’t get to download it for the first week or two and I’m so glad of that. There have been numerous bugs with scenery and weather that in fairness you could excuse, but when the aeroplanes don’t fly in a flight simulator I think you can safely say it’s f*cked!

Full MemberLED soffit downlights.
I’m glad someone mentioned these. What a waste of electricity. The serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever.
Depends on how they are done. I’ve noticed some that are completely overdone and always on, but I installed some over the garage door and front door linked to a flush mount PIR so they work as security lights but are invisible from the street.
The lights that project a beam of light up and down the wall however…

lerkFree MemberJust reading the Apple bumf about the s6 and they have sorted the activation in a fashion by allowing family members to activate your device for you using their phone.
lerkFree MemberMy series 4 manages 2 days (charge every other night) with moderate use, but obviously that’s not doing high power communication.
As an aside, I also use it with AirPods.
Just seen you update.
For Workouts, if your phone is within range the WiFi only works well.
For instance in a locker in a small gym or buried in the bottom of your bag (because phones are now too big to fit into the tech pockets in bags and jackets)lerkFree MemberI don’t know if things have changed recently, but Apple Watch still requires a phone to set it up so you can’t ditch the phone totally.
I was also tempted by that method as I’m due a phone upgrade but love my (non-sim) watch and have a tablet to browse on.
lerkFree Memberyou’ve picked up on the wrong identity. Try G-polx and g-polw which are based out of egcn.
There is also now the facility to playback the radar picture from a certain time so you may find it using that.

Only in winter… UTC is GMT all year round.
lerkFree MemberI seem to remember there was a glitch in the system where GSP non-receipts were automatically refunded by PayPal then later corrected by a human being (around 14 days later).
It wouldn’t be surprising to learn that this hadn’t been fixed yet.
lerkFree MemberAnyone any thoughts on the potential to connect that wirelessly to a tv (something like a chromecast?)… I sometimes sit on the sofa pottering on a pi remotely using my laptop – and this would be ideal if I didn’t need cables across the living room to the TV… Mouse rather that a trackpad.
I have a Pi4B connected up behind the Living room TV that I use for Video calling. I use one of these to operate it from the comfort of my sofa, but have also used a full size logitech wireless keyboard and mouse.
lerkFree MemberDrill through into the block behind the board and use normal plugs and long screws.
I fitted one with 7 fisher alloy plasterboard fixings that have held up big TV’s cupboards and allsorts with no issues in the past, but within days it was hanging away from the wall* and I removed it before it ripped the fixings out of the wall all together.
*ok it was carpeted and had a cat jumping onto it, but the lack of cantilever in the design makes it very tough on fasteners, two additional decent fixings back into the blockwork have it solid even with the cat jumping down onto it from 3-4′
lerkFree MemberI’m sure I read recently that they had finally closed this loophole…
Have a search of the bay forums and I’m sure you’ll find it.lerkFree MemberPA Test…
As a sparky I agree with ESKAY – plug top fuse ratings are a personal favourite of mine.
I used to do inspections long ago and had one guy who kept finding old uninsulated pin plugs with 13A fuses to refit to his machine which I kept failing… Extreme conditions so 90 day retest schedule. After the third time, I cut the cable off at the machine end and poked the remainder through the case!I’ve seen brand new equipment failed by incompetent testers and also seen brand new equipment legitimately failed – the only rule is that there are no rules!
If the boss thinks that the failures have been applied incorrectly he should at least communicate this to his staff…
lerkFree MemberI called in on Wednesday morning as I’ve got a standard ‘kids-have-gone-back-to-school’ cold and as I can work from home fairly effectively in the short term, thought it best to do so.
Boss then says, get a test and no-one is to return to work without a negative test…I really don’t want to be part of the problem and hog a test with no symptoms and pointed this out to him and also pointed him to the news reports describing the situation (he’s currently in the middle east on ‘essential’ travel).
I have however been trying to get a test:
First day of trying – nothing offered and at least 15mins per refresh.
Second day – one offer of a drive through test available 5 hour round trip
Today – Blow me! 2 slots at a test centre <10miles away, click to book and no times are available today or tomorrow, whether drivethrough or walk in. Same result with a second test centre offered at the same time <20miles away.It seems like the system has been written by gibbons as instructed by their chimp paymasters.
edited to add – South Yorkshire
lerkFree MemberI’m less bothered now I’ve seen some of the autogen scenery – it really isn’t doing anything more groundbreaking than Ortho with a nice set of autogen models.
I’m waiting to see if there is a demo to test the physics, the framerate on my machine and most importantly, the compatibility of all my cockpit components.
I’m also interested to see how the scenery loads over the net, as I’ve seen a couple of videos where you could see the scenery generating in the (not too) distance – almost reminiscent of Driver on PSone. While I have ~50Mbps to download with, my scenery currently sits on a Solid State drive which is going to be hard to match.

Is it worth it though, if they find in the sellers favour you’ll be even more out of pocket for thin air. Whilst it seems unrealistic all the other vendors have found in his favour. The difference is that Paypal work to very narrowly defined standards of proof – as long as the seller provides a link to a delivered item POD they are happy and will not hear that called into question.
Actual Courts work on reasonable doubt and/or balance of probability (IANAL) and involve a sentient human who is allowed to look at all of the facts.
Hopefully the seller will realise that at the point of receiving <£5 outlay of a recorded letter and cough up. If not, the cost of the letter can be added to the court fees for him to pay as well.

Small claims court? Is effectively what the moneyclaims service is.
lerkFree MemberAt this point I would probably send the seller a ‘letter before action’ setting out the situation as you understand it and advising that if you don’t receive a full refund in 7 days from receipt of letter you will take the matter to court.
If no refund lands, set up a claim on http://www.moneyclaims.service.gov.uk.
Assuming the case finds in your favour (which it sounds like it should) the costs will be added to their bill. You’ll probably find that focusses their attention to solve your problem.
lerkFree MemberVery strange – just got the email through telling me I’ve won… £50
Nothing on my account yesterday when I checked. ERNIE must need a new hamster!

It’s not £1 per “ticket” it’s £25 which is the smallest bond you can holdI thought each bond was £1 but there was a minimum purchase quantity of £25?
After £125 over past two draws mine drew a blank this time.
