This area is full of difficult areas, I work with and assess risk of people convicted of these offending and a lot of it doesn’t sit well on many levels. Firstly the number of images or their content isn’t indicative of an increased risk of further offending. In fact I’ve been at a number of events where renowned and highly educated people argue that the risk of reconviction for people convicted of posessing CSAM is so low that we shouldn’t prosecute them full stop. the latest, accredited research focused risk assessments for technology driven offending has meant we’re now screening people out of treatment because to do so would increase their risk. This is no way to negate any victim or their experiences, in my offices victims are considered at every stage.
Added to the mix is that the vast majority of people who use these images are children and a good proportion of the images online are self generated and the whole thing becomes a nightmare. As with most of these things the focus should be education of young people and holding tech companies to account

Given the cost of student accommodation for the oldest and the dire state of the back garden new patios had crossed my mind!

I recently learned we have a passive aggressive fork. Turns out this is a shitty wee fork that I get given if I’ve pissed her off. It really pissed her off that I didn’t notice this act on a number of occasions and wasn’t upset at eating slower

Sorry, managed to post a photo but no text! First image is Buddy, typical Romanian rescue, someone described them as having Queen Anne legs. Second is Bear, we’ve been told she’s a Hungarian Mudi but again from Romania via All Dog Rescue Scotland. Neither are normal in any way but they are the absolute best, buddy taken this week in Morar too!

We got a Sleepsoul from Mattressman. It was cheap for spare room but everyone who has slept on it has raved about it.

My wife was in town with our massively pedantic ten year old, my request was for nail clippers. When they get home there were no nail clippers. Wife explained that they were in Boots but child wouldn’t let her buy any as they were marked professional and I am a social worker so not qualified to use them!

Operation Blade was a huge success in Scotland but it meant we saw a lot of people who were convicted of carrying a knife, the assumption was also custody got a while. It was national policy and police and crown office didn’t have much wiggle room. While I never experienced any workmen I did meet guys who had it in their “fishing jacket “ etc

I don’t know the position in England but given the news I certainly wouldn’t risk carrying a knife.

My point was poorly made but what I see is a move away from one behaviour online ( not paying for films or music by illegal downloading) to a streaming based model.
Porn has changed the way children view sex, there’s so much violence involved now, much more so than ten years ago. The Andrew Tates of this world have skewed boys and young men’s views in a totally misogynistic way. That’s what needs to change

The current estimate is approximately one and a half million indecent images of children online, about a third self generated. The vast majority of people who use iioc are children. We can’t and shouldn’t criminalise them. I work with people convicted of sexual offences, proper education from primary school is needed but not even on the horizon.
my other take on this is the internet companies managed to shut down Napster and Pirate Bay, the torrent sites and peer to peer when the media corporations worried about losing money from film and music, surely it’s not too difficult?

Thanks for the update, I ve had a similar experience but as everyone is unique I can only take my hat off to you! You’re right about the small moments. People can’t and won’t understand so it can be very lonely. Use those people close to you, be kind to yourself and accept this different path.
i chat for a living so have very few useful skills but I can wallpaper if you need a hand with the house!

Friend of mine who worked on the Beano at DC Thompson came to me around the turn of  century and said he’d been offered a job at a start up, share plan etc! Told him not to be so stupid, no one would ever play games on a cell phone and he’d waste his animation talents. Each time a game developer passes us in a McLaren in Dundee i cringe .

Another issue is the Road Traffic Act is so poorly written that it’s practically impossible to get a conviction for Dangerous driving so many are charged with careless driving, and so offer the court far less sentencing options

The issue is that people who commit driving offences get away with it, and for the most part continue to offend without causing anyone harm so they believe it’s okay and it’s harmless. The number who leave court with a ban and get straight back in the car is incredible. I know one young lad who was stopped, arrested and put in front of the same sheriff within an hour but was still bailed! What can you do? I’ve also interviewed people who’ve driven illegally every day for twenty years. It’s a choice and never a compulsion

Sounds like you’re doing remarkably well, much much better than most of us could have gone. Life’s sometimes different than we imagined it would be. but if we look for the small pleasures: the kids, winking at something,  getting to know a new partner or even listening to the inane bickering, good advice or random shit on here then you’ll be alright.  People do care and do value you, there are people all over the country and even abroad who have smiled today because you posted on a bike forum!

My dad is an ex navvie, Irish worked offshore in the seventies and still now will have a dram in his morning tea, proper hard and full on pub goer. Came back from a visit to The Vine telling me about women fighting and getting groomed for cash by a guy who’d been released from Saughton that morning during a Wednesday afternoon visit. (“ I bought him a pint but told him to **** off when he asked for twenty quid because it was his kids birthday that day”)

    He loved the place

Always kept a cheque book to pay registration with SSSC, pointless and futile attempt to annoy them for being so Sh!t. Now this has been taken from me by last pay settlement which means council now pay it!

Thought I’d lost a passport in Italy so headed to Milan and get a temporary one, all good! Applied for new passport at home and literally day new one arrived found old one tucked up in a book I had on me. Fast forward six months and got to Dublin, guy at immigration said this passport has been declared stolen/lost and is invalid. Never have an out of date passport kicking around.

We have one of these on a standard toilet, brilliant! Much cleaner and night light good for the aim. Mind it cleans both front and back, Mrs LDM stopped at school gates after housewarming party by single mum middle aged women who advised it was the best twenty minutes she had had in years!

Such a shame, can’t imagine heading back up there any time soon but love the North West. If OP is looking for a get away from the crowds I’d try Ardnamuchan, loads to see, good accommodation and fewer people

That’s awful, truly a terrible thing to even have to contemplate. I couldn’t and didn’t, even the thought had me in bits. Speak to the celebrant, they can say the words for you, it’s a long tough day so be kind to yourself.
People here and elsewhere will be thinking of you.

Slight thread hijack. I knew a drug user a few years ago, real poor soul, who would only steal from the reduced section of Asda. She thought it was limiting the harm, often thought that in her position I would head down to Waitrose, better hung for a Duchy original organic grass fed lamb!

Paris is great, meets all the clichés
Venice, went in a beautiful March week, not busy and walkable. Going back in June and dreading the crushing reality!
By far the best small city is Galway, full of culture, cosmopolitan, great food and pubs. Beaches and countryside close by. It was identified as the escape when the bbc reported Priti Patel’s leadership vision!

If you’re near Edinburgh, Glasgow or London give this a look. Really beautiful suits and they’ll tailor them. Total investment as my suit is still going strong after many a hard night at a wedding!
