We’ve plan ed to go to loaf every day it’s open I think – already had some amazing bread :-)

Just found a YouTube video of Crich chase. Looks like loads of nice single-track.

Am tempted now to take the MTB, and use the gravel to link together a bit of fun MTB riding.

    I found this actually https://gravelbike.guide/peak-district-gravel-map/#

Although I have no idea what this is like

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. There’s quite a lot of overlap between my gravel and MTB to be honest! @jeffl I’ll be in touch

Do you rate that lifeline stand above the minoura then? I’ve had the minoura for years, but it isn’t that great. Have always fancied a park but can’t really justify it

    @bikerevivesheffield, I’ve sent you a DM

Oh, so Ashley didn’t take on the debt? I know he hasn’t taken on the staff or the operation.

cant seem to get the quoting right, but cheers at razorrazoo, that’s exactly it. I wasn’t even sure what there should’ve been. There won’t be any kicking off for sure, but I will try and get the missing bits, and I won’t feel guilty about that. It’s not the people being made redundant who are paying for it. It’s Mike Ashleigh.

Anyway, thanks for all the constructive replies, pretty clear a box or two was missed from the packing, so I’ll get in touch and see what they can do.

    Yep, no battery either

Oh, I didnt even check for a battery, just assumed it was on the mech already.

@sl80, that’s what I expected. Every complete bike I’ve ever bought came with a box of stuff, some useful, some landfill. Cable.port covers would be especially useful, as I want to put a dropper on. Was expecting I’ll need to drill a hole in the cover that’s there

not going well so far. Both Aviva and LLoyds won’t give me a quote because of my claims history. (along with some others). Seems a bit pointless having insurance, if by making a claim you make it impossible to then get insurance.

is the idea that you pay them money, but never claim?

Will try NFU (despite being a city dweller) tomorrow, and if no luck I might need to try a mortgage broker :-(

Thanks all for a few pointers. I’ll be spending the evening typing in the same information into multiple websites tonight then!

Look up merrel freewheel. Decent grip and stiffness for riding, upper is casual but not trainer-y. I’ve got a couple of pairs that I wear almost anytime I need to cycle in normal clothes (work, pub, etc).

I’ve run a 11-34 with a 6800 rear mech and single 40t oval front no problems.youll probably want more than a 36-11 for the road sections of the 3 peaks. I’m going 40t an 10-42 for 3 peaks (SRAM)

Fwiw, I used my 24mm one without a centre tube for years. I originally bought it as a road BB, but moved it to an MTB which has a different size tube

I had similar on a cube cross bike. I did the wheel up with the dropout loose to align it, then tightened the tiny screw, and all is good.

Mine is conical, which allows it to align, but if you do it without the axle, means it can be aligned wrong.

It powers up fine, just doesn’t make any sound. Or is there a second fuse (off to investigate now)

Some good info here. The Sony kit was pretty basic. 4 tiny speakers for the corners, a centre speaker, and the sub. Tried to take the sub apart, but the frame is all glued chipboard. None of the bits I could get to seemed to be the problem.

Have bought the 2nd cheapest (budget is “not much”) Yamaha from richer sounds, as it has good reviews and they said I can take it back if it’s either not the sub, or I don’t like it .

Interesting about the floor standers. I’ve actually got my old hifi speakers in the loft (banished for being too big! Not floor standers, but I do have stands. Wonder if they’d be better.

Tbh though, I’m not really trying to improve anything. As it was it was ‘ok’. Loads better than just the TV speakers. If I wanted to improve anything, it would probably be the centre for dialogue, but the current one is low enough that it sits on the table in front of the TV without obscuring the view. Anything bigger and I need to raise the TV..

Curious….was cleaning the hub and lighter lube enough?

    Leon
    Free Member

I think it’s the hub. Sounds like pawls not fully engaging, which could because you’ve used grease (too sticky).

Usually get this on manky old hubs that are so clogged up the same thing happens.

It always used to be a case of smashing round on my xc hardtail as fast as possible, covering as much as possible! I’ve still got one of those, but also a 140mm/150mm travel trail bike, which sounds overkill still.

Tempted by Brechfa, as never been, but I think it’s a bit further again (from Bristol). Anywhere else I should think about?

Maybe I’ll go proper old school and just take a day out in the Beacons.

What’s the construction of your shed Alex? Have you bought a “standard” shed and souped it up? Or was it designed to be insulated, etc?

I’ve got a big brick built greenhouse and shed in my garden, rotting and collapsing. I fancied pulling it down and replacing with a home office / dad space, but it needs to be usable all year round

I built some with those pacenti cl25 rims planet X were knocking out. No idea what the psi rating is, but I run them with 32mm road tyres tubeless, and usually run 45f/50psi back for pure road, lower for more mixed stuff. I really don’t think you’d want higher than that on any sort of wide tyre (I’m about 68kg, for what it’s worth)

Same thing happened to 1500i geforce junky. They warrantied it, but seems a design flaw. I was going to make a little plug to support it underneath, out of bluetack or something. Think that will help.

I’ve got a giant tcx slr which doubles up cross racing and commute, and mixed terrain riding. Very happy with it, and I’ve noticed some good (although above budget ) deals on last year’s models.

Shameless hawk of my parts, but if your building up, I’ll shortly have some 105 11spd shifters, front mech, and trip hy/rd hydraulica brakes for sale…

I had this on a Dell laptop. Google it, there’s loads of different reasons. Nothing I tried fixed it, until I wiped the hardrive and did a totally fresh install of Windows 10 (clean, not a Dell version with crapware included).

Problem has gone, and computer is now usuable. Wish I hadn’t put up with it for 2 years before finally wiling and starting afresh…

Plumber- that is interesting, although I’m still figuring out what to do. Looks like as well as working as a recorder, could also operate as an interface? Or is it just for transferring recordings to a PC?

MTBroutes – that interface is for analogue input (i.e. the mic). I’m getting confused now,do I need a better interface for a usb midi keyboard thing, or is that ok straight in, and I just need the extra box for mic, guitar, etc?

    Leon

Hi all, that is for the responses. I need to go off and do more investigation. I took a look at stagelight last night. Surprisingly easy to build up a track, and allows you to build your own loops. If I could get going in 30 mins, I’m sure she can. It seems the way to add vocAls though is to just record and import the audio file. I’m a bit surprised it’s not more integrated? Is that normal, or just because it’s cheap, simple software.

Kayla1 – thanks for the offer. I was going down the USB route, as I thought it would be simpler,. It if I have to buy some interface anyway, then midi keyboard would work.

And on that subject, when people talked about sound cards, I assumed one that plugs inside the pc (like in the olden days), but everything looks like it connects through usb, so how does having an extra hop reduce latency?

    Leon
    Free Member

Ah, i was being naive then. Can’t just plug the USB stuff in and expect it to work properly. Pc is my mother-in-law’s old Dell. It’s an i3, with a big HDD and 8gb ram, so I thought probably ok. Didnt think about the usb interface though.

She might have to make do with half a pair of headphones plugged into an analogue jack for a mic like I did as a kid!

No apple devices in my house. Budget is low (like about £75).

Was hoping to use something like garageband , along with a usb mic and USB midi keyboard. Which is all doable in budget,. It the big if, is whether the software is usable for a 10 year old (or 41 year old).

IPad and garageband is definitely over budget…

Thanks all. I’ll do a bit of hunting and come back here. Good point about the plank lengths, but it’s not a large room, so maybe not too bad.

Regarding the solid oak…a house I moved I to once had a solid floor, but it always creaked. I thought one of the benefits of engineered was the stability, and with a 6mm top layer, you should be able to get 1 or 2 standings out of it.

I like the look of that piggy, but what happens when you use the tube? Will the strap work if you’re just left with the tool and tyre levers I wonder?

    Leon

Brilliant, thanks everyone. That’s settled it for me then, as I was trying to decide if it’s worth taking the bikes. I’d say definitely yes!

There’s also a way of doing it by drilling a hole in the actuation arm to route the cable through (changing leverage), but I can’t find the place on the internet where I read it again.

And I’m selling a mk 6 for £125 over in the for sale forum, if you fancy it.

I’ve loved it. Right balance of output V. Weight V. Battery life.

…But, the equinox is even more awesomer, which is why I’m selling. Extra 20g, but a crap load more light, which I’ve found is worth it when paired with a bright bar light. I tended to run my bar light in the mid setting most of the time to stop it washing out my diablom. No such issues with an Equinox

Do you think you could get a finger down the side of the tyre?

    Leon
    Free Member

I really don’t like Rocket Rons. I haven’t found they do anything particularly well.

I was taking a look at ardent race, but they seem a lot pricier than a crossmark 2. (£45 v £32).

At the moment, I’ve got a Hans Dampf on the front, and a worn out cross mark on the rear.

Hans Dampf is really for when it gets wetter.

Any love for the Bonty tyres? Xr3 or XR2?

ianpv – no, the “narrow” 750’s are on my carbon hardtail!

At the moment, looks like I might be riding 6 hour solo as my team mates are dropping like flies. Was going to be a singlespeed team, but we were the only one, so got bumped into open men. Switching bike to stay competitive, as I know I’m a minute and half quicker with bigger wheels, suspension and gears.
