    These may help.

I’m toying with the idea of a XCAD 140mm forked hard tail with yeti ARC style rear end.

Interesting that Sram may do something similar, but I would still stick with Shimano. All my spare bits are Shimano.

If XT is getting a make over in the summer then I’ll keep my figures crossed.

    What!!

It had better go to a good home.

If you do sell it, I’m happy for you to pass on my email address if anyone wants to know about its history.

TBC – will do (Mr L won)

The ASR will take a hell of a beating – I took mine to Switchbacks (Sierra Nevada) twice and a trip to France.

It will depend if you want to go as fast as you can or if you want to get your wheels off the ground.

Both are great bikes. The ASR was lighter and faster going up things. The 5 allows you to attempt much lager terrain and is faster going down. The travel on the 5 feels more ‘bottomless’. I would say the ASR is more of a racers bike whereas the 5 is more of an all round trail bike.
    Both are bloody excellent.

Rode Cwmcarn Twrch yesterday (did it properly by driving there in a VW from England and using a full sus Yeti).

Some small puddles on the top but fine.

Switchbacks- Sierra Nevada – loved the day long epic rides and appreciated the uplifts. But found lots of the trails badly eroded. IMO riding not as good as Italy.

Riviera Bikes – loved the routes, they obviously put a lot of effort into them. The best flowing single track I have ridden, plus some full-on steep rocky and technical descents. But, we spent more time going up in the vans than we did down on the trails, so it didn’t have the feeling of adventure that the Sierra Nevada had.

Done both and totally agree with you. Did the Alps to beach ride with Riveria (5 hours ‘mostly’ down) which was of more of an epic.

Still looking at going back to Riviera in September again.

I’ll have a wander over to Snow and Rock and have a look. Really just after a cheap alternative to renting from the wall (and you don’t get much choice there).

I used to climb about 18 years ago but had college mates who climbed a lot so could always tag along with them.

I’ve just insured with Bradford and Bingley. I’ve covered both my bikes (Cotic Soul and Yeti 5) home and away. Adding the bikes only added another £30 or so to the quote. Not new for old.

Paying £250 for buildings and contents. No idea how good they are on claims thou.

Have been twice with them. Great riding. Last year did Riveria in Italy (also excellent). Second visit to Spain the trails had taken a real kicking from the weather, so check what they are like at the mo. Accommodation in the hart of the village is basic but great restaurants and bars are walking distance.

I failed to get an On One Fat Albert to work on stans 355 rims. I did check the reference code printed inside the tyre and it was listed as ‘tubeless ready’.

Have gone back to LUSH high rollers.

I never understood why Yeti don’t make a 140mm travel hardtail. A 575 type hardtail.

and yes in turquoise of course.

I was there in September with 2 mates.

Locals are very friendly. Jo is lovely. I quite liked Adrian. Matt, I didn’t bond with.

Hotel is basic but fine. Food was excellent the week I was there (wild boar, rabbit pasta etc..).

They could have been a bit better organised (a lot of hanging around waiting for the key to workshop to turn up) but there was a reason for that (guy from week before was in hospital (not bike related) in Nice and Jo was going to see him most days) .

The riding is excellent and we will be going next year with bigger group.
