I will be in the Alps for nearly 3 weeks of it. So hopefully I will miss most of the action hype. It is a shame as I really used to loved the world cup.

Does this mean there will be loads of stormtroopers pushing up hills on Friday and Saturday in the area?

I have the Fiamma 2-3 cover. I think 3 full sized bikes would be pushing it, does one nicely and 2 adequately.

Think about where the bikes go when you’re sleeping.

Mine lives on the rack outside. I have a cover for rain and its locked to the rack and towing eyelet under the bumper.
If I’m heading in to town I just take it off the rack a put it in the van. It fits between the front seats and the bed at the back without taking wheels off.

Pop round to your non-camper owning mates house in the van on some flimsy pretext like borrowing some lights or something, let his kids play in the van for half an hour and then drive off to the sound of said children saying “Daddy, why can’t we have a van like that….?”

You know who you are up there ^^^^^

I must pop around again soon, Wont be this weekend I’m away in my van 😛

I’m always intrigued intrigued by the number of people on a cycling mountain bike forum who say they are too scared to ride on the road.

I’m not, I hate riding on the road.

And having ridden with you I guess you may walk the fire road 😛

    edit: I’ve screwed that up!!!!

So was the bloke who launched a verbal attack on me one day at the Peaks circa 2006. Think he was called Wayne?

    I think I know that Wayne, he’s a pussycat really…

I have a T5 it drives nothing like a car except maybe my mkII escort from 1980 something. But I wouldn’t change it for anything. We have spent 70 plus nights in it so far, in just over a year. Just had cruise installed ready for this years Alps road trip can’t wait for the next trip away.

Mines a 09 102 panel van converted to full camper not by me (not enough time to do it myself). It has also been pendled to 140. My only worry with it is rust. Im not convinced the conversion company sealed or treated the holes they drilled in it very well.

I managed 493 in March. I have started riding to work on my bike quite a lot. But thankfully my commute is 90% off road. All on 26 inch fat tyres I don’t own a road bike.
Where I live is flat so as the temperature rises and I head to hillier places to ride my mileage will go down, but the time in the saddle will go up.

Used my Edge 800 in the Lakes this weekend. Programmed in the Borrowdale Bash from Keswick. Didn’t have to stop to look at a map once even though I have never ridden in that area before, never mind that route. Brilliant bit of kit. I suppose it depends if you like to go to new places or just ride the same stuff.

For navigation I would go for an 800/810. It is so easy to follow the OS on my 800.

The people saying a T5 drives like a car must have really bad cars.

It got up to above 55c (that’s as high as the digi thermometer went) in my camper van last summer in the Alps. I don’t think fido would last long in that. But it would save having to have a BBQ in the evening!

I had mine remapped by martin up at Pendle. It went from a 102 to 136. Its such a pleasure to drive, loads easier to go from 1st to 2nd.
Not sure it made any difference on consumption. Driving in France at 120-130 I got around 35mpg.

This is a forum for riding off road, Stick to off road and the rage subsides. I saw 3 deer and numerous squirrels on my commute, none of them shouted at me. Thinking about it I didn’t see any rabbits today maybe they were having a lie in as it was minus 3.

I prefer 3x over 2x, so not much chance of going 1x. I find I spin out on 2x to quick on the link sections on my longer rides. Whilst locally I spend most time in the big ring. Not because I’m awesome because it’s quite flat.
