Polite, considered responses on a difficult subject. This thread should be closed before it descends!

My Synthe should be arriving in a few days. I’m far too vain to go with an ugly looking lid!

All year round if I’m racing cross/track over winter and therefore riding in shorts. Wouldn’t bother otherwise

…do it properly, Dugast or Veloflex with a skinwall.

    For commuting? Don’t think so.

OP, let us know what you go for 😀

Jake the Snake for more serious cross stuff. Comes with more sensible chainring sizes and tyres (as well as better kit overall).

Genesis are the heavy, slow touring bikes of the CX world

it’s a brave person who chooses to commute on tubs! Why the need for 24/25mm?

I’d normally recommend Continental Sprinters, I use these to ride over 20 miles each way across London once a week in Summer to race and they haven’t let me down but they only come in 22mm width.

Otherwise Vittoria Paves are pretty robust and yet still fast. They look pro in green too. http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYVIPECG/vittoria-pave-evo-cg-ii-tubular-tyre

Depends on the span but many lofts should be able to withstand 25kg/m2

what do you want to use them for? As above P-X is always good for tubs

Before the hose is attached? I’ll give that a try.

Wout rides Sram. I really can’t believe these guys are riding a single ring without an additional guide. I know Sram says they are not needed but I reckon Wout will beg to differ…

Can people put their weights when mentioning pressures? Pauwels might have been riding 14psi at Milton Keynes but he weighs less than a light thing.

But back to the OP, Limus rear and Supermud front for me in the brown stuff. Pressures depend on the type of mud etc.

Depends on the soil under. If it’s quite clayey and doesn’t drain well the trench won’t really assist if the water hasn’t got anywhere to go.

I did the Blausasc round of the French national series last year and loved it! Great riding, warm weather and close to Nice airport. Should be booking it again in the next week or so.

Chances are your bike is going to flex as much, if not more out on the road in an out of the saddle full bore sprint. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’ve always found the Masters (30+) category ridiculous in an endurance sport where many people are peaking in their early 30s. Good riddance I say 😀

Good snow above 2000m for the Sauze D’Oulx opening weekend, much better than Val Thorens on Friday but only around 400m of vertical as the snow line is so high.

Sooooo, regional champs. How did everyone do?

I managed 4th senior at the South East and East race which I’m pleased with. Fowlmead is a great course; some very technical bits which suit me linked with power sections which make it damn hard all round! I was dearly hoping that one of the lead 3 would have a mechanical as that’s the only way I would have ended up with a medal…

If you only have the one bike, weight doesn’t really matter at this time of year as your bike will be encased in kilos of mud and you might want that inner ring…

“There will be a limited number of tickets available at a ticket office at the gate on the day of the event. These will be priced at £15.”

Not sure how limited these will be though, can’t imagine they will be turning people away!

Me! Really looking forward to it.
You’d be amazed at what can be done in a dull park and Simon Burney really knows his stuff so I think it will be fantastic.

Crosshair, good for you for looking into organsing some racing 😀

Unfortunately, the volunteers often do everything as properly as they can but when the race is hit by a storm, racers have horrendous handwriting and there are 200+ people harrassing the 3 sign on staff, things can go awry…

I organised the London League round 7 which had electronic tags etc and we are still sorting out the results due to the weather etc. A system is only as good as it’s weakest link. Most CX races that I enter provide provisional results first.

Easiest way to show us how it’s meant to be done is organise a race crosshair.

I’ve been tempted to DIY my old Nitro as I love the back country and also as a cyclist I have no problems with earning my descent the hard way!
Living in London though and only getting in one week plus one weekend a year, I can’t really justify it 🙁

Hora, if it’s comfort you want get some nice tyres such as vittoria open corsa, challenge strada or schwalbe ultremo ZX in 25mm width rather than carbon bars. It will make a difference to the rolling resistance too.

Alternatively, MTFU! Those Planet-Xs are made of a cheese/carbon composite, I can’t believe anyone would be after more flex….

I’ve booked flights to Turin and car hire for 3 days in mid Dec for the GF’s birthday. I’ll wait and see what the snow is doing before choosing which resort but there should be plenty of choice 😀

Hopefully there’ll be a big early dump somewhere so that I can really test out this baby; Rossignol Krypto

Lezyne lights are fantastic quality, easily removeable and in tests often come up brighter than their quoted lumens.
