2tyred, I'd say that was a good assumption!

AndyP, I'm more of a bunch sprinter (probably why I like sitting on any wheel I can find!), what are your lead-outs like?

But at least on a club run you're expecting to be riding in a pack.

true enough. Could be argued that you'd expect the same in London now too!

Usually the people on club rides know they're each on a club ride, and know there may be someone on their wheel, who knows how to ride on a wheel, and who will do a turn if they are able.

I've seen and heard of plenty of crashes on club runs, doesn't mean the riders know how to ride a bike just beacuse they can meet at a crossroads at 9.30 on a saturday morning!

    Thanks, I'm sure I'd keep up 😉

I'm sure that the rider in front is culpable (as well as a c**t) if it is proved they braked for no reason whatsoever. When I sit on a wheel, I don't focus on the rear tyre in front, but past the rider so I can know when to brake.
I'd love to see the moaners in a road or track race, they'd absolutely crap themselves 😯

Snakebite, did you have a reason to brake?

Why not give them a tow and then slow down and make them do a turn? Everyone's a winner.

I doubt the scaredy moaners on here have much experience of through and off, they'd prefer to take someone out "by accident" and brag on here like the real men they are.

I have no problem with it at all, probably because I'm inclined to do it so it's give and take.
I have never been rear-ended before, but if someone tapped their brakes for no reason in front of me I'd be extremely tempted to pull my own unnecessary manoeuvres…

that head angle looks pretty roadie-like (as it should be on a DJ) to me TINAS so standard OS lugs will be fine. No lugs at seat/top junction, probably because that angle might be hard to find in a lug catalogue.

Cliff Shrubb has been making fantastic frames for years for some of the best riders (roadies) in the world. He's also built a race BMX and a fair few MTB frames. If you know what you're looking for with dimensions, angles etc he can build whatever you want. Probably a bit cheaper than the full-timers.
Pic of of my trackbike to show workmanship below. He also brazed track ends onto an MTB frame of mine years ago that are still going strong.

Excellent! I'm glad it was enjoyed. Although I'm not Rollapaluza, I asked to be involved in the organisation and thought it was like SSUK on acid

My parents ask for £100 a month because they know I'm saving hard for a deposit. It would be more if I wasn't!

Me too Andy, but I don't think I've ever seen a BC bike survive a crash!

What I find interesting about the BC bikes is that although they are incredibly strong in "normal" use, they snap a lot more easily than bikes on the open market when crashed. Even the flyweights shap them! (Kennaugh in the worlds Madison for example)

I really enjoyed the London League, it was a great course but probably too many riders. We probably need an A and B race! It's fantastic that it's so popular

They might generate over 1G of acceleration on the flat where they are "only" working against wind resistance and friction, its a very different matter accelerating that hard going vertically upwards when already doing 100mph…

It is possible to calculate but I CBA! Interested in Mclaren's response

Same i2i James. I was hoping someone had done/attempted it to save me looking into axle paths. Good plan about letting air out of the current shock, that will give a rough idea on the space available.

Giant use the longer stroke shock on their reign-x which has essentially the same rear end, but I've already put on longer forks so Giant's geometry engineers are already disappointed in me anyway 🙂

Everyone struggles in flat light. There really isn't a good solution to this problem.

The owner didn't get it nicked, it got nicked. Doesn't make the owner an idiot if it was locked up well within sight of CCTV.
When I'm rich I'm not having any sh1t bikes, just locks to match!

What idiot leaves a 3 grand bike at a railway station??

How does that make them an idiot? Perhaps they're just rich. Would you call someone an idiot for leaving a Ferrari parked in a public carpark during the day?
Some people might think it's idiotic riding a similar value bike through mud and over rocks…

there was massive opposition to forcing the riders to wear helmets but they had to eventually, it'll happen if the UCI really wants it to.
Races will be boring at first as teams will be too scared to do anything without the boss's authority, then someone will win on a cheeky break and it'll be attacks left, right and centre! I think it'll be better apart from Cav winning less stages….

    All get regular use.

South croydon or Purley. Reasonably cheap, quite safe, good access to M25 and central London and not too far from downs MTBing

So? you can also buy production cars for over a £million.

Special race bikes can cost a couple of hundred thousand 🙂
