You've got to be pretty fit to cope with that intensity of anaerobic exercise.

but their aerobic threshold would be crap, which is important for anything over a few minutes

which I think is more than could be said for some of the XC/track/road riders on a DH course or BMX track.

"some" being the key word Mike. Plenty of top road and track sprinters have a BMX background. My money however would be on Killeen at the moment.

I love my kinesis bikes. Now resprayed after 8 years of hard use. The latest get great reviews.

btw, do flat TTs really make that much difference? I've never had the slightest tenderness with my round ones.

Given the current economic climate, they might not charge initially, especially if a visit isn't needed, ie they could work off photos and/or drawings.

It would be poo-stain on a Giant maestro, there is a lot of chain feedback in the little ring.

Charity shops are the way forward, as Joemarshall said they hardly get worn and plenty of people grow out of them as middle age spread takes a hold!

Don't be too scared, it's much easier to ride slowly than Manchester etc because it's actually not steep enough for the length (the original 6day track was over 60degrees, not a wimpy 45). You do get a great sense of speed though for not a lot of effort though, enjoy!

Don't worry, start in march/april and you still have a 6month long season. You'll burn out if you start now, especially if you've been doing cross

London League on Sunday was pretty epic! Top half of the course was wettish mud that cleared quite well but the bottom sections were so boggy at times is was quicker to run on the flat, euro-styleee. Luckily there was enough road and hardpack to clear the bike a bit.

Is the imperial series the hillingdon winter one? racing on the road at this time of yera is plain bats!

Lon League at Hog Hill. New course and the video looks like it should be dryish on mostly hardpack trails. Hopefully the mud tubs can stay on the spare bike 😀

I can tell the difference, I had 165s on the track bike and had to change, they felt so cramped.

yeah, the article said it was to do with arms and bike control on the banking. At hour record speeds you don't have to worrry about pedal strikes, I think Indurain used 180mm cranks for his 😯

MrSmith, you say you don't want to give them a free tow because they never do a turn on the front, then say that the streets aren't a place to pretend to be in the TDF! Confused?

Take your fixed off the mean streets of London perhaps and get down to Herne Hill!
