Here's a cutting question – can minis and bikes mix?

Yes! I had two people and two bikes in mine regularly. Not always the cleanest or most scratch-proof bike transport though.
I seem to remember Jenny Copnall having a nice bike rack on hers. I may have made that up though!

    More pictures please

This went to the great rust heap in the sky a few years ago 😥
It was my first car, had it for 4 years, so much fun on 10s with s discs. Will get another one when I can afford to buy/run a nice one

Thing is there are a lot of people who go in cheap just to put food on the table, they're not interested in becoming a profitable business. You'll find you are probably up against on of those guy'skis.

How can a job put food on the table if it doesn't make a profit?
    And what is a guy'ski?

Plenty of people are "buying" work in my industry. It's not worth going lower than what you can afford otherwise the client will always expect those rates. As has been said before, mention the quality of what you do etc etc

Oh, and DT78, do you haggle at the pub? Unless the client is a regular, I don't budge on a quote. If people ask it's often a sign that they're going to be difficult

OK, one could combine the two 😉

there's a popular dogging car park about 2mins from that DJ spot, you could combine the two!

The original dirt was dumped a few years ago by the council for the local kids to turn into "jumps". Fingers crossed the parks people don't object to our changes. We did get a few funny looks from the dogwalkers mind

Last saturday a few of us started turning a few baby jumps into something a bit better in Croydon. Hope to keep going over the next few weeks and make a six-pack

    haha, good one Geronimo.

Binners, you're right, he won't lose any sleep at all, it was just a shame that he acted so aloof at such an intimate event

try Cliff Shrubb. He builds amazing road and track frames, but isn't afraid of building specials too. I know he's brazed up some TdF stylee roof racks for people.

I pre booked with skiset a couple of years ago for the GF, it was nice to see what you're getting and it was pretty cheap. Worth doing ASAP for half term

x-ray is the only real way you can be sure there is no below-surface damage with carbon unfortunately.

And what if it's the only bike they own?

Fair point. Still not sure they're the most sensible choice if most of the bike's life is spent on SE XC trails.

    what trails you were riding?

most of them are do-able on a cross bike including deliverance and the old ending to BKB. Not hugely fun IMO though

I've ridden in them there hills on a CX too, but most of the trails more on my SS'd PA. I thinks it's funny that people ride the twisty stuff on a 6" bike, however I've been riding with some new people and there are some big gaps, jumps and drops to be found which I'd only do on my big bike with a full face.

    KMC Kool chain.
Got a plain one one the SS, and drilled and slotted on the BMX and track bikes. Mega stong, last for ages

Same legal top speed as my Espace – 70mph

in this country perhaps. The Aston might get there a bit quicker though unless your espace is this f1 engined jobbie:

I sometimes ride around Limpsfield chart, there's a nice ride there almost all off road from where I live (Sanderstead). Not regularly though, maybe 4 times a year

Around £800 with a mix of nice and less nice parts. Again, could have been cheaper complete S/H, but the chances are I would have had to change parts anyway

Parker Sonnet are around £60. I have the pencil version in this stainless and gold finnish but plenty of other finishes available. Not quite the cachet of Mont Blanc etc, but good quality and tasteful.

would they stop chris hoy/ jonah lomuh types?

Proper lazy fatties annoy me, but I don't think large fittish people should be penalised. In an emergency I'd prefer to be with a 20st tough guy than an 8st model. I know who I'd prefer to sit next to on a plane though 🙂

I said it was tenuous, how many casual DHers wear skin suits and take the peaks off their helmets? That'll make a hell of a lot more difference than some slightly bladed spokes.

'tis true. I just wondered if any did.

Do DH riders not care about aerodynamics? They're going fast enough for it to count

    leggyblonde

As the negatives are being listed – they cost a frikkin' fortune.

because each spoke is x-rayed for faults. They are mega strong, light and aerodyanmic. Probably only worth it for racing though (DH, XC, road…)

An Ana Nichoola military ruffle would be perfect! It has all the requirements you ask for, but doesn't look too sporty so will get worn a lot more as she doesn't ride much 🙂 The jacket is a bit out of your price range but is designed and made in small quantities in the UK by an independent, new designer (my sister!). Look out for a review in STW very soon.
