Obree would have done his fast 10 times on a straight out and back flat british TT course. I'm not saying Graeme was slow but Millar's race had about 10 90 or 180 deg turns. Very impressive time

I would have to agree that tubs are a faff unless you are crits or road races with service vehicles.

I can't believe anyone would spend £500 on a set of racing wheels and use clinchers. Would you put re-moulds on a ferrari?

Edit due to edit above 🙂

tubs for proper racing. planet x carbons?

for rough roads/ crits etc a set of ambrosio chronos on the hub of your choice with sapim CX ray spokes would rock

I view them in a similar way to trials. Very slow and tech

I'm hoping it doesn't rain for the Good Friday meeting at Herne Hill! I'm not racing this year but it's a great spectacle, then the Rollapaluza Finale afterwards 😀

Go skiing in scotland – I would if I could. COnditions are going to be bloody AWESOME, especially compared to the alps where a so-so season has been badly affected (in places) over the past weeks by rainstorms and high temperatures

I'd go to the alps. There's more snow forecast there, a better base in the high resorts and longer runs.
If I live further north, scotland sounds fun though

I've got a gold membership. I have a licence so would need silver anyway and the extra to have personal accident insurance when I club myself seems worth it.

Just make every ride count. I've got some friends who just finished the Cape Epic (722km, 14635m climbing in 6 days) almost straight out of the cross season. They did a few 5-6 hour rides in the weekends leading up to it, but there are certainly no mountains here in the south east!

+1 Hitman. Laird has paddlesurfed it too.

Think skis are used when it gets over 20ft or so 😯

xcgb, ever heard of google? It's quite popular nowadays…

Staff is a legend of BMX and track, hopefully he can retire happily despite the back problem that caused it.

Maxxis ADvantage 2.1. The folding version is around 600g, 70a wears very well and the tread is a great all rounder.

yep Millau viaduct – awesome plus English architect

Grrrrr, that really annoys me! Bridges like the Millau are amazing from an engineering point of view, but because a famous bloke drew a curving line over a valley, everyone bangs on about the architect. I genuinely feel sorry for the unsung hero engineers on that project.

Unless you ARE Woppit, in which case I might put in a provisional tentative claim on my £5.

    😀

As a friendly aside, where did this "I claim my £5" start?

Ok,apart from the roads, what have the romans ever done for us?

    Romanes eunt domum!

No real difference. The chinese and muslims were inventing and encouraging learning whilst europe was in the dark ages and they still haven't been to the moon 🙂

Also that graph looks so dodgy. How do you quantify the Y axis and surely the Greeks did as much for science (natural philosophy) and technology as the Romans.

    Good point TJ.
Assuming sufficient friction it wouldn't snap your legs any more than having a front brake sends you over the bars

Silca gauges seem accurate when compared to each other and other pressure checkers*. They may look old school but are still used by lots of pro teams.

They are christian values, just not exclusively christian. Obviously, with regard to the OP not all christians follow them!

    Must do better

Quotes like the above show your(childish)aggression perfectly.

There is a theory that God created the universe with the big bang.
    Oh boy. *sigh*

That is not a theory. It's a hypothesis. To make it into a theory, you need evidence.

    Point taken.

However, as a not hugely bothered agnostic, to me you still come across as an over-zealous, agressive atheist.

Science says merely that a theory is there to be disproved on the presentation of new evidence

There is a theory that God created the universe with the big bang. Disprove that Woppit.
It can't be disproved, and therefore a fanatical Athiest is as dilusional as any religious fanatic.

Not a film but what about the World Track championships? Sprint whenever they do. You might want to take it in turns during the madison though 😀

It's bollox that you need a midget's bike to ride drops, jumps etc. Modern DH bikes are looong and their posts aren't slammed

If it was built for me I wouldn't have chicken lines, cos everything would be just about do-able for me. A mix of fast and open then some natural slow tech with plenty of jumps etc smattered along would be perfect 🙂

carbon posts are fine, especially as there's usually less leverage on one than on an MTB post.

46/38 with 13-26 cassette for racing. Never use the top gear and I finish top 10 in the london league races.

Lots of people do keep their 50 outer but they don't get used much! Change the 50 for a 46. If you want to ride it on the road, a 46 11 is plenty big enough 99% of the time
