ryan_c, it did! head angle was pretty steep so it took a bit of practise to get it to carve properly but once we got the hang of it, it flew!
a proper ice/snow tyre would be better too

drive to the massif centrale. miles cheaper than anywhere else driveable because it's not as high as the alps. I filled 5 in a car and sorted a self catering appartment for not a lot of money. ski passes are half the price of the alps too.

mont dore has some fantastic off piste and is linked to super besse to give a reasonable amount of runs with lots of sun 🙂

tubs for all racing. really isn't a lot of point in using carbon wheels for anything else

aero profile is structural on most all-carbon rims. If the spoke nipple joins at the part of the rim closest to hub, the side walls have to transfer forces from tub/braking surface to spoke nipple.
Some heds and mavics are non or semi-structural fairings.

EDIT d'oh, must type faster and more succintly

My first ever DH race this Sunday at PORC.

I'm hoping to do at least one RR, TT, CX, BMX, DH, XC and track meeting this year.

When I use gears, I run a 34 ring with an 11-32 cassette. I use a 105 road mech and have no problems with chains and chainlines.

My dad's 172 cup doesn't rattle, even after trackdays. My mate has an early 172 with leather interior etc and it's still in great nick after 90k miles.

Renaultsports are assembled in the old Alpine factory in Dieppe, not with the other Renaults and so the build quality/reliability issues don't seem to apply.

clio trophy or a 172/182 with the cup chassis.

Your generalisation is right oldgit, but it depends on the circuit. I'd use deeps at hillingdon/dunsfold etc but not at palace or most city centre crits. The old westminster crit is an exception to that, that was always bonkers quick with wide corners

the conti GP series are known for cracking quite quickly. They also wear very fast. That's the price you pay for excellent (wet weather) grip

40cm is the cyclocross standard plank. 1 is easy, 2 in a row is a lot harder!
I think being able to hop is important for trail riding but not essential.

    Do you work for MI5?

    No, the KGB.

It was a large course so I didn't know everyone well. He seemed nice enough then, never heard anything bad.

My university login was zcapx34! I was one the same course as Ashley, small world….

Don't have contact with him any more, but I can put some feelers out if this isn't resolved soon.

Talkemada, The pro road season is from feb to october and they can race well over 100 days a year, for much more than 90 minutes and very rarely steadily! Also, when they crash, they hit tarmac, not grass and often continue.
Not saying pro football is easy, they are clearly very fit athletes, however I doubt their power to weight or VO2 max is anything on a professional roadie/XCer.

Both. Traditionally they were brazed and often still are, mass produced frames tend to be welded. Tubesets can be specific to a type of construction.

To the OP, get it welded with an extra plate between the two tubes.

I love my Loake Buckinghams. Don't wear them everyday but they seem very hard wearing. The shoe is factory (and probably good local cobbler) repairable and resoleable.

what has the material got to do with this? plenty of aluminium frames and parts have been poorly designed and failed, do they have a different legal status?

There's an evening XC/CX series being organised by the Surrey League details here .

Don't worry about all the CXers in the pics, there'll be mostly MTBers at the races.

If your frontal area is the same, your top speed will be the same (assuimg same wheels etc). Many people have a higher front end on their CX bikes though. The angles and wheel base will make a difference in the corners but a high end racing cross bike will often have similar angles to a mid range road/sportive bike.
