specialized sirrus clearances are rubbsih. my sister tried to use hers for cross and a 30c tyre JUST fitted, so they don’t really work offroad. I’d hazard a guess and say a cross frame will be the better rigid all rounder, especially one with dsics

I like it! Often good advice on random subjects and mostly good banter. It’s generally easy to avoid the bitchy threads by their titles or authors.

A well glued tub won’t roll off a rim. My aching thumbs on saturday after spending an hour removing 2 cyclocross tubs can attest to this….

In fact, one of the reasons cyclocross riders and trackies use tubs is that the tub stays stuck to the rim in the event of a puncture and is rideable just enough to get you out of trouble. It is almost impossible to ride a punctured clincher as the bead flops out so you are more likely to crash with a blowout

I’m sorry, but that transition video is pathetic! They are elite athletes, not complete newbies. They are riding with their heads down looking for their shoes that are attached to their pedals, like they always are….
Amateur cross races feature regular dis and remounts often in slippy conditions towards the end of a full-on 1hr race and it is extremely rare for those kind of crashes and wobbles to occur.
I still have BIG respect for triathletes’ fitness and dedication, those girls and guys are proper hard. They just fall off bikes a lot.

you got it, lots of triathletes taking each other out after only a few minutes of effort! I do wish there were more fitties in road races though 8)

Well done Matt, that swim looked cold….

This is why proper roadies HATE being compared with try-athletes, remember these are elite pros who are paid to practice at this stuff:

much rather in the future use an indoor wooden track than an outdoor concrete job…

Even in the middle of summer? I’d prefer to top up my tan surrounded by green than struggle to breathe riding in a humid box!
I hope to have the option of using both, they will both serve different but important purposes.

    No emails received BTW

You’re doing it a bit of a dis-service there C-L, there is a cafe and there is shelter and changing! Admittedly they’re not fantatastic, but they do keep you fed and dry.

Also, the existing offroad course is more than ” a little course for kids”. HHV hosts arguably the biggest CX event of the year in the UK!

I would love a permanent facility with proper investment, but it will never happen whilst Dulwich Estates try and fiddle out of the restrictive convenant that insists the land is used for cycling.

I think it’s a real shame that the famous Good Friday is moving to Manchester but I can understand why Graham had to do it, one more wet year would have bankrupted the SCCU.

However I think it is very important that we save the velodrome, I was racing there on Sunday and there was a great mix of ages and abilities of both sexes. Plenty more champions will come from HHV if it is kept on. See here[/url] for what can be done to help.

I’ll be doing it on my spare cross bike once thesearrive in stock. If it works well, I’ll do the same to my best bike.

I hardly ever use the little ring in road races (in the SE), it’s really just there to ride home on! I think a single ring makes sense on a tri bike if the course isn’t too hilly, lots of TTers ride a single ring.

I sometimes find him funny, sometimes extremely irritating! However, echoing what ScottChegg said, at least he had the balls to admit he is too scared. Gervais has chosen to make his money as a comedian with a tiny chance of death whilst at work, soldiers choose to earn their keep in war zone., I don't see why he should go if he doesn't want to. I wouldn't work in Basra right now, no flipping way!

AlexSimon, it was taken by Andy Waterman for MBR and yes, he used a remote flash. That's why I'm pulling a face; hipping to avoid some very expensive camera equipment out of shot!

some manufacturers use 3/32 when the teeth are actually narrower, worth checking, I know some steel 3/32 don't work with 9speed chains.

34 front, 11-32 rear with a shortcage road mech and a DMR chaincage up front.

shortcut, what do you mean by standard? singlespeed rings are available in 1/8th (too fat for 1×9), 3/32 (too fat) and narrow/9spd (OK for 1×9).

I have a narrow MRP, it works nicely
