is that a regular thing belugabob? Can’t make it for a few weeks but that sounds like a good, if dark way of exploring again.

OP: have you tried walking into Specialized UK and asking for a trade price Stumpy? I think you’d get a similar response…

hahahahahaha, the cufflinks don’t look anything like mint sauce! Did a blind person make them? or is it like those christmas cards drawn by people with no arms using their teeth? I’d have been interested if I had known they were for charity!

don’t confuse a fixed wheel bike with a track bike.

the tight angles, low bars, pedal overlap and big gear of a track bike will be ghetto to ride on the road, front brake attched or not.

as mrsmith says, people have been riding fixed fine for years. however, they weren’t attempting to ride modern track bikes around shoreditch…

It surely depends on your riding. My PA isn’t considered slack at all nowadays but I wouldn’t want anything slacker for the twisty SE riding I do on it, barges don’t go round tight corners very well!

TJ +1. If you crashed your car into a lamp post would you go crying to the dealer?

You might be lucky with household insurance, otherwise split it.

EDIT after OP’s edit: Just because some bike company’s have crash replacement policies (NOT warranties), doesn’t mean they all have to.

I love my Giants. One beefed up 07 reign and an 06 TCR Advanced ISP.*

If I won the lottery, I’d still certainly have a few Giants in the stable. Who cares what STW snobs think?

    * that is probably one of the most expensive bikes on this forum, despite not being niche…

wot matthew h said. I had some pace RC41s and they were SO much stiffer than the revs I’m riding now

I actually wish it was colder! I love racing on ice 😈

Perhaps BC should provide ski gloves etc too for commisaires, must have been horrible without a warm cup of tea that early!

I was at Hog Hill, broke my rear mech after a few hundred metres in the senior race. I hate racing there and it has put me off racing for the rest of the season, I’m not going well enough to justify another mech and hanger. No1 bike has been put in the loft minus a rear mech and no2 bike will gain mudguards and slicks this week.

    Pearson Touche[/url]

I know these were designed to address the Langster’s shortfalls, ie they have space for mudguards etc.

I loved mine when I commuted, they have proper road angles and look normal, not like some shoreditch art student has gone crazy with the trust fund. Pretty light frame and forks too.

    Drac, warton is talking rubbish!

I live in souf ladaahn and there was over 10″ (3 point average!) in my area last night

it was 14″ deep this morning and is still snowing so 50cm is a possibility!

I still made it the 5 miles to work though. It always surprises me what little effort people make getting to work when it snow, lazy gits.

living up to your name there handyman, good work!

my mate built a similar machine last year:

it could actually be ridden back up the hill, but the head angle was a bit steep…

I doubt it, that maxxis is MASSIVE!

I ran a 2.25 advantage with RC41s which was fine, but the 2.4 really is loads bigger

Unless it’s an XC race bike it’ll probably stand up to a lot of abuse. Most people used to dirt jump on very small XC frames and forks back in the day.
If it does fail catastrophically I’ve seen a few head tubes ripped off when people come up short on jumps

mud-x were great last year on the soft stuff, would have thought something fatter and spikier even better. crap on ice though!

I flippin’ love cyclocross and cross bikes. This is my 21st season of racing and I’m only 27…

There’s something about the speed you generate on the unlikely bike, and it that it teaches you to be smooth.

Cross riders tend to be the friendliest people too

Gooner, Nick Craig and a few others use flat bars for the 3 peaks but I find drops don’t restrict me most of the time 😈

London league at PORC on Sunday. I hope it stays cold with a little dusting of snow, I got my best result last season in fast but slippery conditions 😀

oldgit you should race with manflu, I’ve done it the last couple of races, got some crap results but better than sitting at home moping!

My 105 works fine with the 32 sprocket at the back and a 34 at the front on a hard tail with the tension screw wound in. Might have just got lucky though

what a load of crap. fair enough get one in gold if you win, but getting one for completing something that 70 year olds can do is for city boys to brag to each other.

Olympics is different, you have to be good enough to be selected. Any reasonably fit bod can do an iron man

    sell it I’m afraid.

Whilst everything will be strong enough and the gears look fine, you are unlikely to be able to fit cross tyres and there certainly won’t be any mud clearance.
