if you want a fast/race bike, this one is good value and the frames are amazing:

.All carbon frames are like this with lumps/dints in them and most manufacturers use filler to hide them.

what a load of crap. I’ve got a clear laquered carbon Giant and it is seriously smooth with no chance of hiding filler. I’ve seen many other perfect looking unpainted carbon frames too. If you hadn’t already messed about with T-cut I would have said send it back for and insist on a respray if they don’t have another frame in stock, or £200 to cover getting it done yourself. As it is, you will probably have to be happy with the £50 from the LBS owner safe if the knowledge that after a few hours riding it will start to get chipped anyway.

How many F1 cars fail under intended use?

Stuff breaks under hard use, deal with it.

    quite true Mr Al.

The OP does say this though if you care to look at the top of the page:

Thinking of giving up trying to get stock sized carbon to fit and going down the route of custom built steel 953 or Ti.

I doubt many of the american builders will have the experience of UK legends such as Rourke or Cliff Shrubb

You really seem to be paying lots extra for the down-tube sticker cachet with Tig welded American IFs and the like.

I lived in Manor House for 2 years as a spewdent. Quite enjoyed it but it’s crap for most riding apart from on a BMX so if you haven’t got one, buy one and a really really really good lock.

I recently put on an Aspen 2.25 60a on the rear for southern singletrack. Lovely tyre, rolls very well but has reasonably decent side knobs which I think Larsens or SB8s lack. Goes with an Ardent front.

I did a race with my 54 year old Dad on Sunday,, I think he’s fitter than he has been for years. My mum (52) regularly beats women half her age and rides with retired guys in their 60s and 70s who can make my legs hurt!

UCL Cruciform building. Used to be a hospital that is in the shape of a cross on plan. I can’t find any good photos, but it really is lovely with a great attention to detail. A very inefficient use of land area though so wouldn’t be designed like that nowadays.

So in general, as some have said already, dont go above 100 psi for 23’s

depends on the suppleness of the tyre. 100 psi will feel sqidgy with very supple race tyres/tubs but solid with everyday rubber.

Sorry I have had no further input into the people vs Molgrips, ust back from the shoulder doc who told me because I have larger balls a different set of values from your average member of public, I will need another op. Booo

    Anyway…

I sort of understand what you’re getting at molgrips, better riders than me get no adrenaline buzz doing things on which I crap myself. However, everyone has their limits and I very much doubt that Comrade Gagarin wasn’t in fear for his life when the count down started. And when he took off. And when he came into land etc etc Controlling that fear and not having a heart attack makes him a hero in my book.

    ARRRGHH!

I knew someone would put up the Millau viaduct. Hardly an architectural masterpiece, Foster just drew a straight line across a valley. It boils my piss that everyone knows it as a Foster designed bridge yet is is the engineers who deserve ALL the credit.

Nope, Paul brodie designed the original Holeshot eons ago. The first holeshot was 1999, but Paul Brodie had made tougher HT’s quite some time before that. He is also credited with introducing the sloping top tube when at Rocky Mountain bikes

I thought the Ti version only came out in 2010?

err, I think thought the Dialled Morning Glory and Kobe Ti came out a while before the holeshot Ti Si…

I agree njee. BMX 9 tooth cassette sprockets feel disgusting under any load, the chain curve seems to be too tight. Really not sure I’d like that much on an MTB, especially with a 10 speed chain
