The 3 you mention there are all very capable bikes, but all completely different! You’d be better off getting a go on a few bikes, so that you can at least decide if you want a linkage bike or a single pivot

true, it’s also the one thing that I find makes it very difficult to switch between the two setups – I always seem to try to grip the SPD with my foot….. this gets very painful after a while!

My newby. One very snowy ride and one very wet ride so far and i’m loving it!

if you got good flats and good freeride trainers your feet dont slip.

until you ride clips for a while you’ll never really understand about feet not slipping. I used to ride SPDs all the time, but switched to flats as they’re more fun. However, riding somewhere like Ft.Bill SPDs are in a different league, you can concentrate 100% on pinning it without any doubts that getting tired could see a foot getting bounced (and a potential big stack)

Haven’t most of the really big winning margins at world cups been by riders on flats.

No, they were by Nico ;)

Rouge is good, even better is stuff called Liquid Diamond. We use it in work for lens’ and windows that need a minor polish

Oh, and Paranormal Activity. The two main characters were so utterly unlikeable I was rooting for the key-moving demonic raptor that lived in the attic.

i think putting a $15,000 movie into the ‘Big’ catagory is pushing it a bit…….. but yet the guy in it did deserve the bullet

Not hit one, but been very very close! Driving up the A9 to Aviemore at around midnight at a speed a little above the national speed limit (dual carriageway) and a bloody great stag jumped over the barrier just in front of us! Was close enough that I could’ve smacked its @rse on the way past!

Needless to say, I needed fresh undies afterwards.

I believe that if you properly skelp one, they send out a man with a mop to pick you up. I’m sure google can demonstrate

I used to have one that was a surround for the new head unit with a wee cubby under it (perfect size for ipod). That was on a mk3 money though and sat really well in that dash board.

A quick eBay search will show if you can still get them, or if they work on fiestas

    2) Old inner tube and zip ties

    yup, very cheap, very effective

it might suck in terms of mileage, but in terms of skills on show you’ll still struggle to better it! Now if only someone would consistently step up to challenge Loeb…

if he doesn’t want to use his own insurance company, he can pay yours directly – fairly standard practise.

Regardless, always go through your insurer – this is what you pay them for!

My folks have Sky….. average speed around 200k for some unknown reason. They were 2.5M with BT previously so watch out

just back from the Drum, was brilliant! Strangely around 75% of the red hadn’t been ridden yet, so it’s was fresh tracks all the way!

how wide is wide? I’d consider wide as 700mm+. Wide plus flat is gonna move your weight further forward.

What was horrible about the risers? bearing in mind they come in a millions different heights/widths/angles I’d be surprised if trying a different set wouldn’t be a good move

the vast majority of travel insurance policies have a single item limit of around £250 (and around £1500 max total), so you’re bike aint likely to be covered even with cycling on as an activity.

The best thing is usually to speak to your home insurance provider about it

hhmmmm that’s not so good. Luckily the site also just reminded me that I have a new store 5mins away, so i’ll give that a shot later

Do they generally carry more/different kit than they list on the website? The site currently isn’t convincing me to fight with friday afternoon traffic

what fork/travel are you running on the front?

Same fork with a (possibly) shorter headtube could certainly have an effect on you

Last two posts sound a bit ropey to me. As far as I was aware the policy is always terminated after a write-off

Follow the Avid bleeding video (youtube) and you can’t really go wrong. They’re as easy to bleed as any other brake imo

My Dad had himself a D5 for a while, mostly used on longish trips. Actually took it back cause he thought there must be something wrong with it! He was matching my 2l petrol at around 38 mpg. His previous car, a 330d had been getting over 50, what are Volvo playing at?

Production engineer here, and thoroughly enjoy it. my role is in a constantly changing/challenging environment so wouldn’t suit everyone, but still plenty of scope to devise and implement changes.

I’m writing this from my phone just now, but will try to give more details later

that be a Shimano Centre-lock arrangment. Yes, you could use a 6-bolt disc, but you’ll need to get an extra adapter (although imo they all look sh*t)

I believe they need skied with the heel fixed down, so you’ll be restricted to alpine style

You do realise that ski touring kit isn’t the same as telemarking kit?

Ski touring stuff mounts on normal skis but has the option of freeing the heel (for walking with skins on) or clamping it down for skiing.

You also get much lighter boots from the likes of Scarpa to do the job
