I bet the next move is going to be £5+ parking – you name it –

A five to ride is hardly a scandal! 2 in a car, possibly not given the cafe any money, getting to ride someone else’s trails for £2.50??

Ways to lose a tender process, lesson 1: Tell those in charge that they’re talking s**t.

Personally I couldn’t care less if the terms & conditions aren’t adhered to. I won’t using the shop and as long as the cafe has good cake that’s all I’m interested in!

I think you’d struggle to notice the difference

I’ll never forget Tiff punting Mansell into the bridge parapet at the Old Hairpin at Donington in a Touring Car race. He had been pecking away for a couple of laps, was never getting past and just bosh away you go there (old Man)sell how’d you fancy a stiff neck in the morning

you might want to watch that race again. Mansell was all over the place, Needell was 2 places back when Mansell basically ran into him. IIRC he’d made the same mistake a lap or two before. (was an epic BTCC geek back then)

    have a look:

you do realise that local riders picked the hill at Innerleithen a long long time before the FC ever knew MTB existed? Although you’re quite right, the FC never should’ve let the Tweed roam free or for rain to happen

No, the hub is closing as they were a temporary business in a temporary building who’s lease has come to an end. They were invited to bid on a new lease and lost to another local enterprise.

Personally, I’m quite happy that the systematic neglect of the forests has given me many good places to ride my bike

Run, we were down doing the red on Saturday and it was all running really well. Can’t think of anything that needed fixing! Miss Legend loves the roots, so expect a stern talking to if any go missing ;)

Time pedals offer more angular float but the angle of the cleat can’t be adjusted like SPD cleats

Yes they can, or at least mine can be adjusted. Just 2 screws like SPD so you can do the same stuff

Not signing. Business is business and I see no special reasons to keep the hub

which for are you talking about on CRC? They have F100s and 32s heavily reduced, what out though as the F100s are tapered rather than 1.5

Well seeing as they’re launching their car on the 4th I’d say it was planned. If they were desperate to be at the first test I’m pretty sure a team with Mclaren’s resources could have easily had it ready for the 1st instead.

you’re making a big assumption that they haven’t had to pull out all the stops just to get ready for the 4th!

most modern road bikes are bloody hideous, the visual equivalent of the vuvuzela.

agreed – i’d rather sh*t myself than ride the bikes in this thread!

We’ve had 2 sets in use on various bikes for years – both have been absolutely bullet proof, to the point where I’m going to be using them on the dh bike for a while

Unless you ride trials dropping to flat is sh*t! Find one onto a nice downslope if you plan on practising.

If you go for the ferry just make sure it’s Sea France over P&O. P&O are rank ships (and food) in comparison

We always go ferry, but then we could do with a break after 10hrs driving to get there

cable tie’s look gash & have more chance of scratching the stanchion

haha what?? how soft are your stanchions?

As rootes says, it should just be a temporary thing. Once setup properly you bin it and you’ll get all the feedback you need when you bottom out

What condition is Mabie in at the moment as I had heard that the trails had been messed up by the heavy frost heave ? I was thinking of a night ride there on Wed

they were fine in the wind n rain last weekend.

Trekster, there’s something up with that brake set-up. The pads are only contacting around 3/4 of the braking track. What do the pads look like?

that’s not a problem as long as the whole of the pad is being used. Just looks like a rotor with a deeper braking surface than the caliper needs

as a rough guide for you, supplied and fitted (with electrics) on a Focus sest me back £160.

It might just be the photo, but it looks the the ball would have to be very low for the boot to clear it – this could lead to issues. Phoning a local specialist would answer it in seconds though

You’ve obviously been on the wrong expeditions Legend – unless you count GT as untamed wilderness of course

you mean that GT isn’t the wilderness!?!?!?!?!

    ;)

    legend

they’re built for expeditions on snow and sand

weird, i’ve only ever seen them on GT red ;)

Don’t know if I could be bothered with the cattle truck and shonky bus type of uplift though

this sort of comment confuses me – whats not to be bothered with? Put bike in trailer, sit in comfy warm bus, ride, repeat. I’m guessing you didn’t put in more than 8 runs at Ft.Bill, so you’re not missing out that way either.

I have no desire to do multiple runs of a couple of minutes of the same track. I might do FW red once

then go somewhere with a variety of tracks. Ft.Bill is the only one track uplift I go on (the red doesn’t count as DH…… and it’s fairly rubbish imo) but that’s long and hard enough that boredom will certainly not be an issue. Innerleithen tracks are shorter but there are several choices of route down

personally, I love the fact that so many of the naysayer are quite clearly in the “I’ve never tried it but I dont like it” camp.

    legend

not quite, if i do an uplift on my hardtail i feel way more knackered by the end of it than on the DH bike.

I wouldn’t be concerned about fitness, you’ll be fairly rinsed after your first one regardless!

    eh?

Inners – the whole point is to give your pride n joy an absolute hiding!

Les Gets/Morzine – boring? You do realise for a start that there are 12 runs+ on the Le Pleney alone? Head towards Chatel for totally different riding. Head to Morgins for some of the best trails i’ve ever seen. Le Croset is different again. Finish off your day with a massive run down Super Morzine. If you find the PDS boring, you’re doing something wrong

I’m pleasantly surprised how cheap these can be.

have a look at Bell for cheap helmets, best quality for the money imo (by miles)

The prospect of mixing/mincing it with burly downhillers scares me. They look like robocop and smell funny.

haha ‘burly’, all 9.5st of me :) actually, i look more like a zebra….but yes I probably do smell funny
