If they are accessing the land legally then we have to put up with the damage if they are not legal then (almost certianly) you aren’t either. If it’s bad and you’re walking contact the local rights of way officer and give him/her the heads up.

I live near Winchester in Hampshire and the ROW officer for my area is very good and fair. He’ll sort out farmers and horse riders who destroy rights of access wether they are footpaths or bridleways.

I asked by phone as my fater-in-law (to be) was flying to Canada the next day for a 6 month work trip! Otherwise I’d have asked in person.

Shop him, imagine how you’ll feel if he kills someone because his tyres are bald!

Had my house broken into years ago and the toe rag who did it (he got caught eventually) spray painted my lounge and dinning room (walls, ceilings and carpets) because “I wanted to piss him off ’cause I didn’t get anything good”.

Had a similar problem a couple of years ago, saw the farmer and asked when he was going to reinstate the BW to which he replied “I’m too f**king busy – **** off my land”.

I reported the ‘conversation’ to the ROW officer who examined the BW and they ‘requested’ the ROW be reinstated, 3 weeks later they slapped a court date on him and he got fined (eventually).

Apparently he’d clashed with the ROW officer before so they follwed through.

While you’re at it check for odd patches of discoloured skin, just seen consultant re: skin cancer, awaiting op and treatment.

Use sunscreen when riding it’s easy to cause a problem without even knowing it!

Would love to but on arecent ride I’d need a transit van to pick up all the cr*p dumped on a local bridelway. Looks like someones torched a car and then chucked all the burnt bits all over a 250 metre square area1

This is near an area where they put in posts to deter 4 x 4 who just hooked them up to their tow bars and pulled the posts out!

The answer seems to involve a 12 bore!

Van driver is right it is wrong to undertyake but…

… most drivers do WTFTL so putting a sign on a van is a bit rich really.

New cycle lane added to a busy road I use to commute on, two lanes as it approaches a set of traffic lights at the top of the hill. It’s legal to undertake as it’s a cycle lane BUT you can’t because all the cars are half in it because they don’t want their offside wing mirrors hit by the second lane of traffic. Pointless expense and no enforement.

Stuart get it checked out and if still in doubt insist on a scan. I had testicular cancer 14 years ago which was not detected by my GP. I insisted on a scan as I’d had experience (close family member) of late diagnosis and felt that a scan was the only way to be sure.

1 week later I had the lump removed was told all was ok, one week later as told I had tesitular cancer and went back in and had on teste removed, chemo, radiotherapy and further surgery.

As i say that was 14 yar ago an dall is now fine.

Hi Rich, yes it is but to be fair I’m here 14 years later typing this so for me personally it could be worse :-)

Hardest thing is still hearing people with no first hand experience ‘judging’ cancer victims.

My first wife had breast cancer at 24, was sterilised at 25 (too big a risk) and died from secondary liver cancer at 28. 6 Months later I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, had chemo, seven operations and radiotheraphy. I was very lucky and survived.

Anyone who thinks cancer is funny is wrong, no debate they are wrong.

If Jade Goody or anyone else has secondary liver cancer then my best wishes go out to them.

fixing punctures on the SS cross bike, I use chain tugs so it’s all a bit of a faff but then the chain doesn’t fall off so there’s an upside I guess

    4 days a week = dark side
    2 days a week = non-dark side

3 days a week = 8.5 miles each way (SS)
1 day a week = 17 miles each way (SS)
    1 day a week = night ride approx 16 – 20 miles (geared FS)
1 day at weekend = 20 mile off road (geared FS)

Hmm seems a reasonable aount when you write it down ;-)

Have had 2 punctures in 18 months (on my commuter) so my wife says “not ANOTHER puncture!”

To be fair I get loads more off road at present, live near Winchester so lots of hedges and thorns!

Also I ride a SS to work so no gears to slip!

I’m 43 and have a max when riding around 184, resting 44, average around 155 on commute (8.5 mils SS road) nd average 165 on weekly mtb night ride when I’m chasing my vry fit riding partner. Hit 205 in the last week of december when it was really cold and my gears went kuput leaving me to rider everywhere (off road) in a 34 / 14 combo!

    My wife likes this version:

    do your tits hang low?
do they wobble to and fro?
can you tie them in a knot?
can you tie them in a bow?
can you roll them over your shoulder like a regimental soldier?
    do your tits hang low?

Often heard in her school playground 20 years ago!

My sister is just going to train as a vicar BUT she doesn’t try to hard to convert people and she can see both sdies of an argument so i reckon she’ll make a great vicar.

The aspect of religion I dislike is the guilt and fear they try and lay on you if you don’t believe.

I use shimano winter boots (can’t remeber the model but 3 years old) with sealskinz socks and have warm feet all the time. Don’t keep you feet particualry dry but do keep the wind out hence warm.

Have just got some bright yellow sealskinz gloves which work well too. If it’s really cold _5 or below I use my Cannandale winter gloves which have a thermal liners but they’re way to warm if it’s nearer freezing or above.

Everyone has diffrent tolereances and I can ride in just 2 layers down to 0 degrees C but I struggle when it’s hotter than 24 degrees C which is not too much of a problem in the UK! 8-)
