I had a BC version of the Instinct a few years ago. Just to echo LeeGee’s comments, it is far more linear the steeper the ride9 settings you go – I had mine on the steepest which really suited my more XC type riding.

I was really close to buying another one off the Paul’s website a few weeks ago. It was reduced to just under £5k from over £12k, I was really struggling to resist!

I went for a Spark in the end, similar saving but far more suited to the doorstep riding I have in N. Worcs.

At the moment, it’s DHL, I ordered a lot of bits from Tredz (who have been superb in this debacle), DHL said they’d deliver between 10-11am. I drop the kids off at school and whilst I’m out I get an email saying parcel delivered at 8:30. Apparently sign for by me.

Get home at 9ish and the parcel is gone.

Other than that, all the other delivery guys are great, Evri guy is a diamond. DPD is ridiculously helpful and the last few Amazon deliveries have been so good I’ve bothered to leave him feedback.

I had a 2014 Instinct BC, I loved it, a far more capable bike than I was rider. I had it for around 8 years before I sold it as it just wasn’t getting used. Lasted really well, no real issues in wear and tear. Guy I sold it to still rides it regularly.

I had another one in my basket for a while off the same website. But decided to go for a Scott Spark, something different, probably more suited to what I have access to on my doorstep.

Simple decision…. Do you want electrical shit on your bike ?

Good point, put I have Di2 on the road bike which is lectric, not issues (it is a few years old now and tech has come a long way)

We have a Bissel pet cleaner variant, has different settings for deep or light clean. Several accessories for spot cleaning etc.

Bought it a couple of years ago, lasted well considering it gets used several times per year by us and other family members. We have to make sure the carpet is free of pet hair, thorough hoover and a scrape with one of those hand held rake things as cleaning any dog hair out is a fiddle – it comes with dedicated tools to do that, but it’s still a faff.

An ex of mine had a the nickname red cord, as in something you pull in an emergency. She was in a couple of years lower than me and I didnt really know her at school – she has blossomed but it still followed her around when she went back home to Stamford.

P&Co is another almost similar brand. Has a bit more about them on the sustainability front islf that’s a selling point youre interested in.

Practically, they do kind of look after themselves a bit exercise wise. They play a lot so don’t need quite as much walking.

Costs of keeping them doubled, food, insurance, grooming, training, etc. Cleaning up after them is a constant task, we strip them weekly but there’s still dog hair everywhere!

Holidays are a little more difficult, they’re big dogs, a lot of accommodation will only allow two small dogs.

There’s less room on the sofa, they’re literally 40kg lapdogs.

I have a Tilley hemp hat, always wanted one since I read a story about one being eaten by an elephant, crapped out and (after a wash), being perfectly fine.

Best hat I own for the summer. It’s brilliant.

My first experience was a pertex waterproof shell which was great until I was actually on the bike. It bunched up all over the place and wasn’t particularly nice to wear. Seems well made though. One thing to note is that I gave it to a buddy of mine who wears it without complaint. Maybe it’s just me being fussy. :D

I do have some bibs and jerseys, they’re very good for the discounted price – have lasted a good 6, maybe 7 years now.

Mate of mine is in the Really Hot Chilli Peppers, he always said that if you like the way your favourite band sounds on an album etc. Then you will enjoy a tribute act. He makes a good living out of it.

I’ve really enjoyed some tribute acts over the years, some cracking ones at the Matthew St Festival in Liverpool over 20 years ago for example.

Barnes and Moore in Birmingham make bags, not quite what you’re after but they may make a one off. Wallets are good.

Edit, I have a 24 hour tin canvas bag from Filson, again, not quite what you’re after but after 5 years of daily use, you wouldn’t tell it’s ever been used.

Always loved Hiut denim, top people over there too. When I’ve had questions they’ve been far more helpful than they needed to be.

It’s not just a recent thing for Americans, in 1896 the was a town in Texas built to demonstrate what would happen if two steam trains crashed in to each other. Town was called Crush, event, the crash at Crush.

40k people showed up at the equivalent of $100/ticket. People died, and got quite famous from it.

Another vote for Sportpursuit, I don’t really like the Isobaa ones. I do have three Supernatural ones which are superb in comparison.

He got 11 series, which is still far too long imo.

Never understood how Andy Parsons and Hugh Dennis got this gig for so long. They’re awful commedians*.

*I’m sure they’re very good as stand ups when not under the watchful eye of Aunty.

Hate Russian dolls, so full of themselves.

Hate Lollypop ladies, they really make me cross.

Came here to post those, haven’t read the whole thread so apologies for repeats…

I was on a call the other day, we were waiting for someone to join when one of the participants asked if this person ‘is around’, I replied ‘no, he’s kind of people shaped’, which got far more groans and comments of ‘dad joke’ than I expected.

What’s it like in the car? If its OK, could you take it a short trip to a park or something?

I used to have a Lurcher who would get like that, she would suddenly just stop and not move, had to carry her home more than once.

    She was an oddball though.

I think it’s the amount of applicants companies get, overwhelms the HR functions that look after placements – at the company I work for, we got >1000 applicants for 12 engineering placements at just one site. I’m interviewing for placements for next year, I just don’t have the time to go through all the CVs in detail.

One thing that will go far ime, is to contact people directly through LinkedIn. We get a lot of these from students outside the UK and they do get more attention.

Had a Shark, I think my Dyson V12 is better – it’s four years old (I think), still works perfectly well. No issues with the battery life etc.

Rarely use them around the house now as unless it’s for something quick. I now have a Miele mains powered CX something or other which is far better.

I’ve always been envious of people who believe in a ‘higher power’ being their reference point for what is going well, or poorly in their world. More so since the multiple suicide attempts of someone I love dearly since Christmas.

I’d love to take part but fear I’d be far too inarticulate to contribute effectively. Much happier being a fly of the, erm, camera? But would love to watch the results on YouTube.

    Good luck Saxonrider

Regarding calibration. Would a beam torque wrench need calibrating too?

    Yes
