I’ve been using durex lube (really) on pistons for years, on both dot and mineral. Seems to work perfectly

I’d rather have a Fiesta. The Fiesta has nicer engines and is much nicer to drive. It’s not as practical, although I used to fit my Trek Slash in the back of one with the front wheel off.

It’s probably not quite as reliable. But that’s a bit like saying the German rail network isn’t as reliable as the Japanese rail network.

I tried a Power and didn’t get on with it. Tried an Arc and it’s spot on. It’s now my go to roadie/drop bar bike saddle.

Syringe on the lever end. Squeeze syringe as hard as you can and whilst doing so squeeze the brake lever as hard as you can several times.

Top secret Cytech level 4 stuff.

I’ve been a bike mechanic for 15 years now, for my sins. I’ve seen plenty of prematurly broken stuff. I’m yet to see a broken Shimano HT2 crank.

Hugos are utter crap. The rims specced on Apollo bikes are probably more resilient to square edge impacts.

Stumpjumper or Fuel would be my bet.

Spent a bit of time on a 2017 Fuel EX and it’s awesome. A properly capable bike.

I use an old Hope Vision 2 on the bar and an Exposure Joystick on my helmet. It’s worked well for me for a few years now.

I had to send the Hope back for repair (it was well out if warranty). Hope sorted it out free of charge and turned it around in a few days.

Spent some time on a 9.9 Top Fuel built with a 50mm stem, wide bar and 2.35 Minions. It was absolutely belting. Fast, and direct and all that good stuff but you could still spank it on the downhills. I want one.

It’s undoubtedly polish at my local trails. People discard empty canisters of the stuff along with feather dusters.

There’s some good deals to be had on Specialized Enduro frames and Giant Reign/Trance frames at the minute.

What an uplifting post! If you’re ever up in the Lakes, Wheelbase hire out e-bikes, it might make a good introduction, especially if you are understandably sceptical. They compliment a proper bike well, especially if you aren’t at 100%.

I dropped a cash bomb on some Thomson carbon bars. I couldn’t notice a difference between them and the aluminium bars I’d run in the past, and still run on other bikes. Foam grips made a much bigger difference. They do all the things the jurnos profess a carbon bar does, i.e. reduced hand fatigue, increased vibration damping. I’d absolutely recommend trying foam grips if you’ve never used them before.

That’s my experience of exactly one carbon bar though. Maybe the Thomson bar I have is especially stiff.

Trance would be fine at the most hardcore enduro race.

I heard rumour this was due to Isla bikes influencing Fox somehow due to their strong position in the OEM fork market.

They won’t retract fully if the pads have worn; more piston will show the less pad material there is.

If you know that already and the pistons are sticky though. Take the pads out, squeeze the lever a couple of times go get more piston showing (be careful not to pop them out). Then use silicone lubricant to lubricate the pistons/seals. Sex lube works well and is easily acquired! The Durex stuff that comes in little bottles.

Hope recommend silicone (non oil based lubricant) for the job and supply it in their dealer kits.

Spent some time in a custom. I love them. They’re genuinely good fun to drive too which was a surprise. Kind of like a big tall Focus.

The ones in our fleet have proved to be damn site more reliable than T6’S/old T5’s too. The T6’s spend most of their time being repaired under warranty, or burning oil at the rate they burn diesel. The Customs don’t.

There is direct correlation between those who struggle with practical tasks and those who struggle fitting tubeless tyres.

If for example you can attach a stem face plate without cross threading every other thread, or if fitting a bayonet light bulb doesn’t require a call to your parents then, you should be fine with tubeless.

Bit harsh perhaps but it’s the case in my experience!

I live in the Lakes. There’s plenty of people here who neither like or appreciate tourism in the area. I’m sure there’s similar feelings in practically any tourist area.

In reality and unsurprisingly the economies of a lot of these tourist areas are explicitly linked with tourism. Would the Sóller tunnel in Mallorca exist without tourism? I doubt it. Would the A591 in the Lakes have been rebuilt so quickly with out tourism? nah

I’ve had issues with current gen XT’s. They’ve been warrantied (due to leaky calipers), bled countless times. The levers still occasionally pull to the bars and still occasionally pump up. They’re garbage in truth.

The E4’s on my other bike are perfect though. I’ve run various hope brakes over the years and have never had a problem, bar the C2’s I had back in the day :D

I run the Bontrager XR range with Team Issue casing for XC racing duties and general riding. So XR1, XR2 and XR3. Dependant on conditions.

They’re often overlooked, but I can wholeheartedly recommend them!

Impress his teachers with a peer reviewed research paper! These should be relevant:

    https://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?cites=14329435067454749913&as_sdt=2005&sciodt=0,5&hl=en

A lot of those probably aren’t free. But just search for the papers title followed by ‘pdf’. 9/10 you’ll find the paper for free somewhere.

The most trouble would be a >£1500 Cannondale. I can’t answer your question though.
