Selle italia SLR, very very light, magnesium rails, had mine over 2 years with no trouble, a bit hard to start off with but when you get used to its comfy.
I’ve been using strikes for the last 3 winters and there fine, still on the same pair, commute mon-fri and hit the trails on a weekend.
Not the warmest but not bulky like the warmer ones either
I changed from running NN front and rear to conti x-king front and NN rear, works a treat, the x-king is much better up front than the NN. Go for a x king, I’ve heard that mountain kings are good all round tyres. This is my first non schwalbe tyre! And I must say I’m impressed with the x king.
I live in Eaglescliffe and can show you some top quality routes over the North York moors etc, taking that you are a MTBer??
Go onto http://www.mtbe.co.uk
Organise a ride (mtb) there’s a group of lads on there who organise local rides most weekends, good set of lads to.
North face borealis for me to, I bought a hump cover for it to which is fully waterproof and once light shines on it lights up amazingly well, you will def be seen from behind, so safe to!!
One of my best buys for sure
Schwalbe kojaks for me to, 1.5 wide, awesomely quick tyres, although there slicks I’ve never had a problem with grip, I run mine all year round on my daily commute.
Also had them on for 2 years now, so excellent longevity so far
Our friends who are joining us in the ctc live in Sunderland so it makes sense to finish there, plus I can leave the car there to.
I read on the ctc site that you collect stamps at certain points along the route, is this right?
Have you thought about 1×9 or even 1×10 set up, I’m running a 1×9(rear road cassette) at the mo and I’ve never had any trouble getting up the big climbs at trail centres and natural trails to.
Save weight to!!
I swapped from 3×9 to 1×9 and its the best move I ever made. I never really used the granny ring anyway if I’m honest.
Save some weight by 1 ring set up to!! You may need a chain guide though. I had to have one fitted as I took the bike to guisborough forest and the chain kept coming off on rocky descents, once chain guide installed the chain hasn’t dropped once! so bear that in mind if your planning on 1×9!
It’s addictive!!!
I ride to work on a hybrid SS and its ace, not that hard but enough to make you put the effort in!!
I have now bought a SS for the trails to
Stevethemac,
Have you ruled out the scandal? This is far more superior than the inbred and 456!!!!
Lighter to. Not much more money!!
I love mine and also have a few friends who have them and are completely smitten, I run a 100mm fork and it suits me fine, others run 120mm and love it.
