Just been for a blast out with my son to try his new yari forks and they developed a rattle half way round, on inspection it was the tokens had come loose and fallen out of the top cap. One of the tokens had smashed , could be a one off but might be worth checking before you ride your fresh forks.

It’s just the owner of the mill yard  getting greedy, loads of parking on the way into staveley in the laybys which is free, just a short road spin to get your legs warmed up.  Then stop at wheelbase or for food on your bike on the way back then you don’t have to pay the parking fee. Just please don’t dump your cars/vans to block entrances or drives as its bad enough already . Still free after 6 so fine for night rides.

Another Cascade fan here, I’ve done 80mile Road rides to rocky Lakeland passes on mine and loves a singletrack. Run mine with specialized fast traks 2.35 so smooths out any trail. Its a bike that just wants to go and play.

So we bought one as a stop gap as my sons marzocchi forks are away for a while on warranty.. (again). I’m loving it, I swapped out the stem for something shorter which made a big difference in handling and a wider bar, set it up tubeless and added a dropper, after those changes it’s quite a capable bike for general riding .Dont get me wrong it’s no DH thrasher, but if your after a bike that will do a bit of everything you carnt go wrong for the money, also nice to see a full shimano deore groupset which works just as well as any xt groupset ive used. The rockshox judy also surprised me for the price point . Weight wise it’s no lightweight, but once its rolling you dont notice it. I’m 5’8 and went for a ml.

Apparently you carnt replace the bushes, think theres been a few problems with this model ,maybe contact silverfish to see what your options are.

Its probably the bushes in the lower legs,my lads z2 did it within a few months of riding them from new. Warranty job if new or £200 for new lower legs so I was told. His rattled as you lifted the wheel off the ground and put it back down.

I happily ran a specialized 2.3 purgatory up front with no problem of rubbing or mud clearance when I had one.

I suffered from really bad arthitic type pain in my ankle for years, but after a friend gave me some rhustox to take it really helped with the pain and stiffness. Rhustox is a natural remedy for arthritis and inflammation. Could be worth a try.

Just had a quick spin on my new trail wides, they feel responsive and smooth, better than stans arch s1s which felt a bit numb compared. Don’t think you can go wrong for the money .

I test rode a cotic Solaris max a few weeks ago on my local trails and was blown away by how much fun it was. Set up with 130mm forks and 29er 2.6 tyres, Felt like it had 50mm travel on the back end going downhill, nothing like any other hard tail iv ridden…so much fun.

I bought a frame set and built it as a replacement gravel/ do it all bike and love it,great for sloppy local laps in the winter with 2.2 tyres on or you can throw some 38c gravel tyres on for more long distance stuff. The rack mounts means I can use it for light bikepacking trips,so yes it’s basically a clockwork frame with a taller head tube .

    I used a 30.9 shim with a 27.2 post with no problems.

    Yes it’s 135mm qr and 15mm front.

Yes you can fit a front mech, there’s a cable stop on the back of the seat tube. I love mine ,I built it to replace my gravel bike, nice and light (23lbs)plus you can fit a specialized purgatory 2.3 up front and a maxxis crossmark 2 2.25 out back. I ended up going for a 70mm stem to stretch out the position.

Orange speedwork, aluminium frame, carbon fork, takes a 2inch tyre. I run mine 1×10 ,flat bar ,great for all day road/gravel mixed riding with a 45c tyre, put fatter tyres on and it will happily go a bit rougher for the odd bikepacking mission. comes in at 23lbs.

I use a fabric cageless bottle on my med flaremax, not lost it yet on any rough descents. It’s a tight fit between the db shock lever but doesn’t rub or catch.

I took a chance on buying a flaremax without riding one and it’s turned out to be one of the most playful bikes I’ve had in years, running it on 29ers with 140mm pikes up front.  It flys down any rocky dh in the lakes with confidence yet still nimble enough for trail centres and singletrack…soooo much fun.

I think its the national park who is doing it, apparently repairing the damage from storm Desmond. Don’t think that bottom half of that track has changed much in 25 years of riding it, why now?

That’s just wrong, I’ve lost plenty of skin on there over the years, great trail.does anybody know if there are any other trails to be ruined like this soon? Maybe just to go and have that one last blast…

Try him on a whyte, my 10 year old son has been riding a xs compact whyte 604 since he was 9, I swapped the bars and stem for something shorter and narrower , the 650b wheels roll like a 29er would to us. He managed to get round the sam Houghton coarse this year without any problems, he loves it.

I’ve been running one on my commencal for 3 months now with no signs of wear like yours. I unscrew the coller regularly to clean and regrease it which seams to keep things running smooth . For the money I paid for it (£119.00) I can’t complain.

I’ve suffered from ankle pain for years and know body could get down to the coarse of it, physio said it was a detached ligament by my heal, then it was tendinitis then after a mri the surgeon said it was chipped cartilage???, he said an op would be 50% successful to get rid of the pain if that was the culprit ..plus 2 months off work. Sod that..found a cure for my pain and stiffness in my ankle by taking rhustox once a week, I’ve not touched a pain killers in months . It may be worth checking it out to reduce the symptoms, sounds like anything is worth a go to get you back riding again.

Been Riding a very wet muddy rooty rocky loop round the grizdale area today and iv been very impressed with the aggressor. Handled plenty of tech climbs without any problem, rode it fairly hard dh and no punctures. Ill be leaving it on the back for the rest of the year .

As always its been a fantastic day doing the sam, got round the short loop with my lad who’s 9 and he loved it, said he wanted to do it again after we’d finish…far to much energy , yet he was asleep before his head hit the pillow tonight. Thanks to all the guys on the gates and the great cakes of course.

Its classed as a challenge but some people think its a race because its timed, theres kids on the course so having a bit of common sense when trying to pass please. Lots of parking in staveley usually on the old cricket ground down back lane, camping wise they usually have a field up the kentmere road open for it but not sure about fri night, maybe ask on the Facebook page. Hopefully its gonna be another great day .see you all there.
