Saw them live at Isle Of Wight a few weeks back. Obviously not quite the same without Keith but still put on one hell of a show. Long live The Prodigy!

My wife named our old King Charles Spaniel  ‘Treacle’, cue lots of Mockney ‘Awright Tweacle’ greetings in the park whenever out for a walk.

Mum and dad rescued a couple of chickens years ago. My suggestion of ‘Sam and Ella’ wasn’t seized upon sadly.

Great PSA there OP, many thanks. Just popped to the small FarmFoods by me and they had a single 4/8 out the back, so went for that. Love a bargain!

We bought a large 2 seater sofa bed from DFS last year. Has had good feedback from guests who have used it so far. I’ve used it a couple of times as well, no complaints here. We paid £649 so a little bit north of your budget.

On the rats point, I cant see the relevance. If the rats are in the sewer, the only way they can get into your house from the drains is via the toilets

    So you would think…
We had rats in our cavity walls and loft space, eventually found the ingress point after putting a lump hammer through the plasterboard in the kitchen. Some **** had built our extension over the original, exterior inspection cover, with not only 1, but 2 levels of suspended floor (original house has a 1ft void space running all under the house) Kitchen tiles etc were ripped up in order to discover this. Lifted the inspection cover to find a branch off that was completely exposed to the void under the house, with just the washing machine waste pipe running into it. Rats had chewed this pipe back as well, meaning part of washing machine empty cycle was depositing straight under kitchen. Much remediation work and £000’s later, we no longer have a rat problem!

11:30pm start tonight then. Not a good start yesterday but let’s see how our bowlers go. Don’t forget Jimmy pulled up in the 1st Test in 2019 which I still believe cost us victory. They’ll have been mindful of that considering the recent injuries to both Broad and Jimmy, especially coming in to the series so cold.

@stumpy01 – re: childcare vouchers, sure you’re aware but you can’t turn them back into cash. I’d have a clear plan on when and how you’re going to spend that £3k

I have £300 in vouchers sitting there now with no way of spending them. Youngest is going to senior school in September so no need for before/after clubs anymore. Only way I can think of using the money is on private tutors who may accept the vouchers

What @wobbliscott said a few posts ago, sums it up perfectly.

Don’t lose sight of the here and now as well, as difficult as that may be in COVID times.
Today is the 3rd anniversary of losing a best friend to cancer when she was only 32. Keep everything in perspective guys! x

We had our garage converted a couple of years ago. Permitted development so no planning permission but building regs visited and signed off on different stages of the conversion.

Have a search now on ADS-B for G-PRXI, it’s the Spitfire being used to do the flypast of NHS hospitals to say thank you. Currently heading to Yeovil.

We did a virtual tasting last weekend with a chap from Mackmyra whisky, who are a Swedish distillery. Was a really good experience. Their Svensk Rok might be up your street.
My favourite was the Gront Te, which is finished in Japanese green tea casks. Better than it sounds!

It’s the people who work in these retail environments I feel sorry for. Imagine being surrounded by Christmas blah blah blah for every work shift, for 2 months solid. Eurgggh.

We put a number of claims in back in August, had a reply from Lloyds this week in regards a couple of loans my wife took out 20 years ago. £1,500 was deposited into my wife’s account yesterday, which was nice!
NRAM (Northern Rock) and HSBC are still investigating. As above, we never knowingly signed up to PPI so it’s good we’re getting redress after all these years.

Great news! Not sure what you’ve got planned fitness wise, but I recommend getting a FitBit (or similar). I had a high tibial osteotomy in Oct 2017 and my wife bought me a FitBit as an aid to getting fit again post op. Amazing the weight you lose from just walking and pushing the step count!

Do a search for high_street_sheds_ltd on ebay – I have one of their 10×8 workshop sheds (bought last year) and I’m really pleased with it. They’re based in the West Midlands and do free installation if you’re within range.

Maybe try swaddling? Worked with our two, no issues with sleeping in Moses Basket or cot.

We were there last March for my wife’s 40th, lovely little city. We did everything on foot, including a walk south of the river down to Krakus Mound which gives fantastic views back over the city and surrounding area. If you fancy sampling the local ale and food, I can recommend CK Browar cellar bar which is a 2 minute walk off the main square… http://ckbrowar.pl/en/welcome/

Look up High Street Sheds Ltd on ebay, I’ve got one of their workshop sheds in my garden. Really solid construction and assembly is included in the price.

I’m booked in January to give pint number 30. Like a lot of the above I started at a mobile blood bus outside work, but now have to go to the local church hall. Easy enough to book a slot, just download the App then choose your venue. Keep checking as appointments get cancelled all the time.

Take a look on Gumtree etc, I picked a pretty much brand new Flymo one up for £40. At that price, it was worth a gamble and it actually works really well I’ve found.

Great work you lot, this thread has just brought a tear to my eye. Our friend lost his wife (and we lost a dear friend) earlier this year so I know how tough this situation is. Donation made, drive safe!

Apparently a famous naturalist lost an eye while checking a box.

That will be my wife’s grandfather you’re thinking of there, Eric Hosking.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Hosking

A turning point in Hosking’s career came through an accident which happened on 12 May 1937. Returning to a tawny owl photographic hide late at night, he was struck in the face by the owl, its claw penetrating his left eye. The resulting infection meant choosing between losing one eye or probably going blind. The eye was removed and the ensuing publicity appeared in all the national newspapers, where his photographs were already in great demand. As soon as he was fit he returned to the hide to continue taking pictures.
