And yet there was a time when every man + dog had drawers full of Nokia chargers.

Going to a house that didn’t have a Nokia charger was odd. I reckon that every mobile should have used them.

I’ve had this Kenwood, yes Kenwood, phone for donkey’s. The only things my main phone does better is it can hold more texts and has a camera, though as you can see it’s pretty poor.

I avoided Christmas crackers this years as for about five years running I got a bloody comb.

I’ve been shaving my head for over a decade.

With the power on will the fan get going if you give it a spin by hand? If it does then I’d change the cap.

Systemair/RVK are good if you do need a new fan, fitted them in several studio ventilation systems as they’re nice and quiet, handy if there’s not much room for dampers.

That looks in very good nick.

I knew a bloke who was a Volvo mechanic back in the day, he collected Amazons and PVs when they were worth nothing. Unfortunately he lived on Bodmin moor.. I saw them when they’d been there about 10 years. Jacked on up to take the gearbox out and the car just folded around the A pillar! On another the front wing was gone and so I stood on the upper suspension arm to reach the windscreen trim , it snapped.

    ‘Leftovers’?
    WTF are they?

You’re obviously not cooking way too much. You need a more wasteful wife!

I’m feeling pretty leftover after the drink.

I got some chafing dishes a couple of years back and they’re great. Just leave the food hot all day and pick at it at will!

At the risk of incurring massive jealousy I have never met my in-laws and likely never will. Missus has to endure mine though.

I’ve never had a set of the plastic handled keys. I bought a set of normal Facom ball-end ones years ago and they’ve been brilliant, 1.5-10mm set was about £12

They’re a bit bulky for bike work but a Sealy AK219 bit set and ratchet holders is bloody good for a tenner with lifetime warranty. I have broken some doing car work though so buy them somewhere local..

I didn’t chuck them out,the dog told me someone was out there, I went too have a look. I just sidled up and sat on the wall “alright chaps” I said, not really realising what was/had been going on. Cue lots of apologies and embarrassment. Taking the piss was my go to option really.

No ride for me on the day (today in fact) but will be out on a mission on Dartmoor the day after boxing day with a group of mates. A pub or three will be involved..

    Nice!

I had on of those Casio’s with the built in infra red tv remote control back in ’97 or so. It got lost, sold for crack etc. years ago. About 5 years back I found you could still get them!
Did I buy one to relive some idyllic vision of the world that never really existed just to give my dysfunctional upbringing some substance? Hell yeah I did!

She literally just had to put up 2 paste tables and arrange a few chairs and she’s been posting picture updates on a family facebook group for two hours.

I’m going to start counting the hours I don’t spend on Facebook (never used it) as hours worked and use the money I would have earned on my bikes!

The time spent on here and reading about bike things online can be conveniently forgotten of course…

We haven’t bought anything yet and were planning on going this afternoon. Hopefully everyone will have panic shopped earlier and we won’t have to queue.

Ha ha, ha ha ha. Ha.. My thoughts are with you.

It was ok at 3am, I am still alive. When I’d gone earlier (about half ten) a mate who works there was on a fag break and saw me get out the car. I just heard “You don’t wanna go in there” echo across the car park. He said that the night before people were parked on the grass and in the entrance road, even filling the delivery entrance. It’s a small town and Tesco is the only 24 hour place here.

I thought we had everything last week to be honest, save for a few bits of veg but it would seem I was sorely mistaken..
I got the core stuff sorted weeks ago as I like to think of a holiday as having time to kick back with a nice bit of food and drink. Not rushing about spending too much, that isn’t chilled.

I’m just grateful that the missus doesn’t know an M&S food hall(?) opened here last month..

Some lighter wheels and better cranks, used of course.

Just had a cheese sandwich with a bottle of Pirate’s Gold ale while listening to the missus nagging politely asking me to get the disassembled cooker I bought for spares off the front path as it’s not very festive.. Honestly, I offered to put tinsel on it!

If you need bits then bear in mind that AEG and Zanussi were part of Electrolux at that time so behind the badge many machines from all three are similar if not identical. Motors can be a bit of a minefield still but commutators are often interchangeable.

On your motor I recommend drawing a line in marker pen from one end casting across the windings and onto the other casting. That way it all goes back together as it was before.

I don’t think that’s limited to Panasonics. I had the same on an Indesit last year.

Loads are like it nowadays, it’s been pretty common for several years now. I liked the old British made top-motor Hotpoints. Take the front panel and drum pulley off, unclip a load of clips to release the front of the outer drum and then the inner just pulls out, a piece of piss to change the bearings.

Glenmorangie’s my go to treat, when it’s on offer mind.. Normally £35/70cl. Can often get it for £25.

Abrachan from Lidl’s is alright at £18. Not as bland and ineffective as Whyte & Mackies/Grouse etc. Not a patch on Glenmorangie though.

Dartmoor was mentioned: the Hornet is a hell of a fun bike. But special so…(very downhill focused)

My brother has a 16″ Hornet and it’s a proper lil’ ripper of a bike!

    Tony Martin ain’t happy

    From the article;

“I am totally angry,” said Martin.

Am I the only one who read that and said it out loud in the voice of Vicky Pollard?

The only way I have found to reliably block an entire channel is with an add-on in Firefox called Video Blocker. I used it to block GMBN, they really piss me off.

EDIT: It works for the whole browser regardless of Youtube accounts.

My young German Shepherd is very reluctant to eat in the morning. I crumble a small bit of these salmon stick/sausage treats that he likes on it and that works.

My old cat came down with renal failure a couple of years ago. It came on quick and although he was made comfy within a few weeks he needed to be put down as things were clearly not going to improve for him. Based on that experience I’d say this; Please don’t leave it too long if you know that it’s going to be necessary. I did with my cat, cue a late night rush to the vets which caused far more stress and pain than was needed, it still haunts me today. I don’t envy you having to make that call. All the best with it.

I hate tailgaters. I can’t stick people following me a bikes length back on the trails either. If I bin it then they’ll hit me, it’s happened.

I believe those are US hand signals in the drawing. They certainly aren’t any I’ve been taught in the UK.

Yeah, most British people manage to muster the energy to type the extra few letters needed to spell “alternative”. That funny word that Americans substitute for “alternate”, which means something quite different.

Another ad. My brother’s got a 24/7 Dark Angel frame kicking about and probably some suitable stuff to go on it if you’re wanting a cheap project.

He thought he’d try dirt jumps and wussed out, much like me really..

Was doing some tree work at a house years back. I knelt down to refuel my saw and thought I saw a boot or something like it at head level out the corner of my eye. It was enough for me to snap my head round only to see nothing. Anyways the owner came out with tea and got all upset while I talked to her about the work needed on this tree. Turned out her boy hung himself from it the year before, right above where my fuel cans were.

Well I’m pragmatic about this stuff, I don’t know that spirits exist and and I don’t know that they don’t so I’ll sit on the fence. I don’t feel the need to prove or disprove everything I see/hear/do and am secure enough to live without needing everything analysed and explained to me.

I’m just up the road so will keep ’em peeled.

Is the garage just attached to the house or is there internal access between garage and house? Because if there is I believe the law is a bit different and you can report it as burglary rather than theft. Please don’t quote me on it but it’s worth looking into in case it can be used to make the po po do something meaningful.

Oh I will add that rechargeable makes less sense in use than in theory. I’d rather have some AAA’s in my pocket than be left without light.

I had a Clulite rechargeable head torch with three LEDs as a power meter. The green one stayed on for 15 minutes. The amber one stayed on until you had about a minute left, so once you saw the red one you were stuffed.

    ?

From my experience I would avoid LEDlenser. They just seem a bit heavy on the gimmicks and light on the reliability and performance.

Petzl’s always struck me as solid, no-nonsense kit but that’s only going by what people I know have said.

Check out the candle power forums. A scary place but they have some good info and reviews.
