Guildford, because no one knows guildford has a castle and assume that it’s a town like basingstoke or swindon.

Are the ninjas following them around constantly hoping for some bad weather or have the charges already been place in hope?

you’re dangerously close to the truth here. What actually happens is that all the super yachts are rigged with charges and the ninjas follow the storms waiting for the perfect moment.

Suspect it’s relatively normal,  just nobody talks about it, so is a bit despairing

there is a conspiracy of silence amongst parents which, by many things concerning parenting, is motivated by guilt and/or anxiety.

anyone else notice that somafunk’s first paragraph is one entire sentence!?!

Very easy to follow, so suspect he’s no too high.

But now everyone keeps throwing up these super cheap (still a few quid mind) Epic Evo’s from last year, i do wonder if they are a better choice.

unless you don’t want a carbon bike, the seem to be.

Care to explain why wines beyond cooking level are from a single vineyard? Surely you could just mix them up to get the taste you want.

That is how non-vintage champagne (and a lot of expensive wine) is made.

I have seen examples where an uncertificated dental nurse essentially caused a practice to close and folks to loose their jobs and their business. In those circumstances a written apology seems like the very least trouble one should go to

this is interesting. Did the nurse loose her certification, or was she never certified? If it was an error on the nurses part, then the nurse would probably want to apologise. If the practice manager had employed uncertified staff the the manager should be apologising.

    I love auditing

Now that is something you should apologise for.

What chainset is it? Road and MTB have different bolt patterns.

That’s because the brakes are so powerful!

    Are you astroturfing?

a neighbour of mine had a terrible lawn. Full of weeds. They replaced the grass with astroturf. Now the weeds only grow around the edge of the lawn.

Boost was conceived to work with 2x

I know. The point was the short chain stays. There were also claims of the need to fit plus sized tyres with short chain stays.

to me, 1x seems odd on road and gravel bikes. Definitely benefits mountain bikes, more so than boost spacing or 27.5 ever did.

Which is what, A bawhair wider than the chain?

what is the chain line in the smallest ring?  I’ve no idea, but it’s  a lot less than 52mm.

there were still boost frames with adequate clearance for a front mech as evidenced by the suggestions on the last couple of pages.

there were non boost frames with room for front derailleurs, too. It didn’t mean that the suspension wasn’t compromised as a result

weren’t 1x and boost conceived when bike designers still thought that chain stays should be as short as possible?

The Specialized Chisel would fit the bill. Perhaps enough in the budget for some lighter wheels (I’ve no idea of the weight of the standard wheels, just assuming that they would be a little heavy as it’s not an expensive bike)

Perhaps an option would be to buy an old xc frame, like a Talkboy, and get some one to build you a custom front triangle for it.

or go full custom. Waltworks would probably be willing to make you what you’re after.

Sycip, too. They use ventsna suspension parts that don’t appear to have changed since the advent of 1x. Ventana themselves may also be able to help.

Specialized Rime is very breathable with mesh at the front.

the trailcross doesn’t use S1 rubber on the sole, it uses the less grippy phantom rubber. As a result it’s not as grippy as the Rime.

i think the rime is the better option.

Road signs that are obscured by bushes, etc or are just dilapidated. Maybe nobody uses them anymore anyway as the GPS tells you where to turn anyway.

I noticed this when I was there in May

Councils have entire teams of people whose job it is to find things they do, that they’re not required to by law, so they can stop spending money doing it.

I entirely believe you, but I’m surprised that obscured road signs are legal

F1 tyres were crossply long after road cars went to  radial. Apparently radial tyres were unpredictable at the limit.

as I’ve never pushed a mountain bike tyre to the limit, I welcome this news.

Yet ski resorts seem to cope with these challenges absolutely fine? Seems like weird excuses since chairlifts have been an established and successful invention for decades.

the weather is quite different in south wales to alpine resort and have you seen the price of a week’s lift ticket?

I like the idea that genuine odi grips could turn up on AliExpress.

Budget for tax and duties as the mk2 shell definitely wouldn’t slip through customs unexamined.

edit: minimum order of 10! Group buy possible?

Motorbike grips, not sure if knock off or from the back door of the factory but they’re identical to the the Vans x Odi waffles. This is about as close to “fake” as I’m prepared to go.

no judgement for buying what you buy, but odi only make their grips in the USA. I’m not even suggesting that your grips are fake, but they probably are.

you can buy a mk2 escort body shell from alibaba. That’s definitely not genuine ford parts

this is completely ignoring the op’s question

In terms of temperature, above 25 °c and below -25 are my cutoffs, but it depends on humidity. I like a dry climate.

back on topic, it’s not hot or cold that I want to see the back of, it’s generally conditions that make riding my bike in the woods unpleasant that I want to change for the better

Though autumn is a lovely time of year.

Elon Musk is reportedly claiming civil war is inevitable in the UK. Is that a prediction or a threat?

Go me that just sounds like he’s spouting off, but if there were a civil war the uk, or England, who would arm the various group? It’s not like they can walk into JD Sports and buy a rifle.

Most civil wars have foreign interference or are proxy wars. Do the Russian or Chinese or Iranian state security services standing by to arm various factions?

Even with suspension a stiff in the wrong direction wheel will still be noticeable. Aluminum or carbon. the ride could be harsher or the wheel may not track as well knocking the bike off line.

personally, I like carbon wheels. The only carbon on my bike is in the wheels.

A reasonable pair of carbon wheels for enduro will weigh about 1.8 kg. Without knowing what the wheels on your bike weigh, or we’re the weight is, it’s difficult to say

the best thing to do would be to remove the tyres, rotors and cassette and weigh your wheels. Once you know what the weight difference would be then look at some options in aluminum and carbon.

look at warranties and read reviews. Some carbon wheels are very harsh, some are very flexible.

Personally I wouldn’t like to see armed police breaking up drunken fights on a Saturday night.  Seems like that could get a bit too interesting.

    Now I’m with you.

I’ve never understood why airports need so many people wandering around with machine guns.  In my opinion this episode perfectly illustrates why it’s a bad idea.

    why? No one got shot.

Even if they’d not been armed they would still have arrested the people fighting, who would then have started fighting with the police.

if you start a fight in such a public place, you are unlikely to get away with it. If they wanted to hit the sons of the racism woman, they should have played it a bit smarter.

Did this all happen in arrivals or departures?

Have any conspiracy theories been shared yet?

I heard one a few years ago that your transactions would be monitored by a big computer and if you were trying to by something that the government doesn’t want you to have (it was the individual you, not society at large) the system would prevent you from buying it.

it was all connected to social credit and if you didn’t behave as they wanted you to your ability to buy stuff would be limited.

I did this recently. I just booked an extra bag.

The check in agents put an overweigh Label on it and didn’t charge extra.

it was the old style evoc bike bag.

edit: I booked economy. Amusingly, premium economy was full economy was probably 20% full.

I flew through gatwick and Vancouver.
