    @kelron @jamj1974

Never come across these before and am intrigued. What’s the difference between the Hybrid ones and the Hybrid with Outlast ones, apart from the price that is?!

To everyone who’s offered their views & advice and to those who’ve suggested online links & resources so far as well as your views & advice – a huge thank you.

As someone who has little idea how to differentiate good from average to unhelpful anything when it comes to science stuff, it’s incredibly useful to have views and links from people who are in this arena.

Do people have a view about the worth or otherwise of using a science tutor? I’m agnostic but again, have no experience to go on. Some of my daughter’s peers have private tutors in various subjects but, as has been pointed out, it’s probably as much about ‘fit’ with my daughter’s personality, learning approach and actually finding someone suitable if we go down that route. I have little idea where to start.

Any thoughts, personal experiences or advice?

Thank you very much for the responses so far – incredibly helpful.

A no. of you have pointed to online resources eg

There is a huge amount of stuff on the internet, some really good in explaining the principles and with tests so they can test themselves, see what they know and where they need to focus their attention.

    and

There are masses of very good revision tools on line.

I’d be grateful for some links to stuff that the experts/practicioners in this field are actually use or think are good, relevant and helpful to someone who needs their basic ‘foundation’ skills & knowledge building and developing.

Thanks again for the advice & insight.

Anyone remember what the Polish flavouring (or if not Polish, then sourced from Polish shiops) was from a similar recent thread?

@Cougar @nixie Didn’t realise it was no longer an option. Explains why it stopped working.

    Any other rss-type options?

I wear two very thin pairs of socks, coolmax walking sock liners. Reduces friction which leads to blisters. I walk a lot.

As above, two pairs of socks, inner pair some kind of synthetic rather than cotton, which retains sweat and softens the skin.

You can also get thinner blister prevention tape for the ‘hotspots’ or maybe even use vaseline to reduce friction further.

Could anyone who uses the ‘two socks method’ please link me to anything you use and/or would recommend? There’s a lot of stuff out there and I’d really appreciate some real use advice.

    Cheers

Thanks for the replies to date. I am recovering from a heart-related episode and looking to use an HRM to give me info about about the operating zone of my heart rate during exercise so I can better measure my efforts. I’ve been advised to get one by the cardiac rehab people.

Tbh, I’m not sure how much value I will get out of using one hence not looking to spend too much. I’m open-minded about the whole thing but would like to give one a try.

I hear what CraigW and mikewsmith have said about optical wrist bands but frankly I find the whole fitness tracker/HRM ‘market’ a gobbledygook-infested minefield. More sensible, user-based, real life experiences that ‘cut through the crap’ would be greatly appreciated…!
