In addition to Ground anchors and chains, think about an alarm with extra sounders. I used to have my car alarm inside the car on The grounds that people ignore them, and if I could make a scumbags ears bleed it isn’t a bad thing. How about 4 sounders, with one down by the bikes. You’d need to be a deaf burglar to stay in the garage for any length of time.

Yes, on dt hubs removingg the ratchet ring needs special tools and some new swearwords. But the bearing held in by this is well protected and is probably not one that needs replacing. You’ll probably find that only one or maybe two bearings actually need replacing, but the 3 accessible ones are easy to replace whilst it’s in bits.

You must order 2rs, and pack lots of grease around them as an extra layer of waterproofing. The seals only give water resistance, not water proofing..

I go cheap. Just bought 10 of this size for around £15 off eBay. I don’t mind a strip and rebuild once a year and the 6902 size fits lots of hubs. At this price it’s a consumable, and a good excuse once a year to regrease the freehub.

There’s no minimum life to brakes – it depends how much you use them.

However, on my T5 the front pads were replaced at around 35k (by the 1st owner) and I replaced pads and discs all round at 65k. This wasn’t desperate, but the discs were looking corroded. Total cost (doing it myself) was £200.

You are stopping a 2.5 ton van – it takes a bit of energy to do that – unfortunately this is all managed by your little brake pads!

Stoffel, you are portraying others (dog owners) as having poor consideration for others (you). Take a look in the mirror fella.

The seatbelt and airbags on my car are also useless. In all the car trips I have had where I haven’t crashed they have done F all. Complete waste of money.

Just because some knob on the radio has a theory, it won’t change my views on bike helmets. Tarmac or concrete is effin hard, and my head would hurt if it hit it. Putting an inch of polystyrene between my head and the road can only help my head to hurt a little less…..

From the description there’s a small amount of movement between two components creating a noise when pedalling. Difficult to tell which two though …… Is it when in or out of the saddle?

You can stop a course and restart it mid ride without any problems, so if you want to turn guidance off, to get it to turn off the guidance mid ride you will need to turn it off, then stop the course and restart it for the change to take effect.

It is a good piece of kit – have a google for Frank Kinlan as he has a blog with lots of hints and tips.

And do 1 file at a time.
Drag into new files folder (on either device or sd card it doesn’t matter)
    Unplug garmin
    Power off then on
Check course is present on garmin
    Repeat for 2nd GPx

I have had some GPx files not recognised by my device, but this appears random

I also save the files to the sd card as I have had the garmin lock up, for which the only solution is a hard reset that wipes everything on its internal memory.

Make sure you use the guitar – a lot. I am sure he would hate the thought it wasn’t being appreciated. And bake him a cake, do him a favour ( that involves your time and thought, not your money)

I have a set of good tyres for a T5 on steel rims if you are interested. One pair has about 6mm and the other about 4-5mm of tread. They are good quality and stored in my garage. Would want around £75 for the set. I am in Coventry/Warwick if you are interested ( email me).

Robestan Wathen must rank up there as one of the best named but disappointing places.

Halfway always makes me smile as it is never that.

In fairness though, if I had just bought a BMW x6 I would be looking at a bike like that to make the car look better and to show I wasn’t completely lacking in taste.

Does it mean that if you are gay and getting married, it’s ok to only have food for 4/5ths of the guests, on the basis that 1/5th won’t turn up?

Sounds like a good money saving tip to me

Chewkw, adding engine oil to the fuel will poison the catalyst and oxygen sensors. Your driving style may burn off the poisons but it is a bad thing to do. Dragster engines are a little different to car engines.

Try varying the riding or going out with friends, sometimes it needs this to put the fun back in. Go and do a trail centre and stop when you feel like it. One or two weeks out will not affect your fitness overall, in fact it may give your mind and body the rest it needs.

Make him a cup of tea, show him some kindness, he will then give up thievery and live a long and happy life helping others.

Or my vote is for the ” whilst he turns up for the meeting go and break into his house and nick his nice things” approach.

How do you educate people that thieving is unacceptable? I suspect that as long as people have owned things, theft has happened. Although oddly enough I don’t believe Saudi have an issue with petty theft.

I think the conclusion (at least mine anyway) is that on some XC courses a 29er will be faster. How much faster and whether it’s worth spending money on is down to the individual.

Or train harder and keep up with those who trained less.

    The choice is yours.
