I think it’s a tragic decision, and I have trouble finding words that express how gutted I feel on their behalf. I doubt many folk on here know how much, over the years, those two have put into making Glentress (and Innerleithen) what they are, and how much they’ve put into the sport in a number of ways. They’ve played a big part in making something really good in the Tweed Valley, and have helped put smiles on an awful lot of faces through mountain biking. Personally I feel pretty disgusted at all the glib comments of ‘It’s only business’ on here, as the Hub is a major part of the community if you live here. I doubt very much whether a new place will reflect any of the good vibes that the Hub is usually stuffed with, but more than that, it just seems wrong that people who have put so much work into creating something should get removed from it so clinically. If you don’t think this stinks, ask other folk who know what Emma and Tracy have put into the sport – I’m pretty sure the likes of Peaty, Macaskill, Tracy Mosely as well as just about every top rider or activist who’s come from these parts will find the FC’s decision pretty hard to accept. +1 for La Clusaz
hardly any Brits, short transfers, bonny town, all kinds of ski-ing, good scenery, great for families.

TweedLove will be epic next year, all the free stuff plus big new events on new trails.

Could be a good test for the natural vs trail centre discussion going on just now – we can do both in the one ride…

Forecast looks pretty good so maybe some of the natural stuff we didn't fit into any of the TweedLove rides in the summer. I know there's some shouts for Birk's cairn gypsy glen route too, might be quite a few walkers up there tough. How much does that matter? people have different ideas on that.
If it's still windy we could go backdoor into glentress and do some of the natural bits and pieces in there too…

Mike Scott is from Ayr. Went to Edinburgh Uni for a bit.

Friends Again were great too, and anyone remember The Painted Word?

Just for info – all the places are taken now for Natural Tweed. I'm just about to put up more details of the other mtb rides during the week. Great to have got such a good response for first year – all being well we should be able to do even more next year. Hope you local guys will come along to the local rides too? More the merrier, and we'll be doing some cracking trails. Separate thread on here for details later.

Don't forget you're all invited to join the Peebles and Tweed Valley brethren for our big Tweed trail love-in, week after next – from 24th. There's groups of folk going out from different spots just about every night that week. Quality goods assured. Nice beer too. website for info.

No worries Obi, if it works we might be able to do it more often. Good luck with the new arrival, been busy with that kind of thing ourselves in last few years…

We've got a couple of child seats we need to sell, a co-pilot and a Hamax. Very much good as new, and in Edinburgh, if interested. Email me for more info…

Thanks for the info – any idea how long it takes for Chatel places to sell out?

Ignitors are best I've used for all round Glentress/trail centre use. Definitely quicker than High Rollers, though slightly less grip.

There's a few tracks on the OS map that would lead there – just wondering which are bogfests and which are mostly ride-able.

TJ – what sort of a ride is that track – much carrying needed?

The recently moved bspoke bikes – just along from Eastgate theatre in Peebles. Helpful and good value in my experience.

Best self-catering in the area (IMHO), walkable to pub and village, and since we’re bikers we’ve got a work stand etc. and happy to be flexible. Email me if you want more details, or go through the website:

I live very near Glentress so I ride it and other local trail centres a lot. Maxxis Ignitor is best fast rolling/good grip tyre I’ve tried. High Rollers def have a bit more full on grip but are nowhere near as fast.

Got a tracer vp a couple of months ago. Built with 140 forks and mostly SLX with some lightweight bits too. It’s impressively light for such a capable bike, climbs very well indeed, (in some instances better than my carbon Merida race bike) and now with the rear shock in the 6″ position it descends brilliantly as well. All in all I’m very pleased and it’s by far the best all round bike I’ve owned or ridden.
