Early summer when the wildflowers are out on the machair. Check out the Gatliff trust hostels if you want to stay in amazing places (location) for next to nothing too.
Train to Oban, ferry to Barra and cycle north to Lewis.

Now there’s an idea. TweedLove folk are up for it.
    Anyone else?

Where will this leave Enduro racing in that area and what about the Scottish Enduro series next year?

TweedLove crew have some plans for events around the valley in 2015 – should be some news soon. (In addition to EWS.) Neil

Anyone know what guiding/uplift there is in Pila and La Thuile later in September (when chairlifts will presumably be closed)?

Hopefully, being a wee bit shorter will mean folk aren’t totally done in come race day and can feel good enough to ride their best on the timed stages. A lot of events have been getting seriously long, so with any luck it’ll be fun and a right good charge down the hills.

Hels- thats a funny question from a local, cant you park outside your house and ride 1 km to the start? I’m sure there’ll be parking nearer though #reallyneedtosaveenergy

Thanks – a few things to follow up on. The annoying thing is there’s an Open Reach exchange with BT Infinity about 400m from the site, but it’s not proving easy to speak to anyone at Open Reach or BT about it.

All depends on the course layout. 450 this year – didn’t seem too bad on the stages.

Yep, Fort descent now cleared by some kind soul. And a cracking trail it is too.
Road from buzzards towards spooky etc is still a jungle, don’t even think about going up that way.

Pretty sure the trails are mostly still there, but they’re not sign-posted. Was told last weekend the forest is open again and most things are OK. Entry to bottom section of stage 4 has gone though – as it was before the race.

Entries will open in February, but you can join the updates list to get the info as it comes out. Info will be on Twitter and FB too. More on TweedLove website

POC TweedLove Enduro at end of May (Peebles/Glentress) should have an awesome course if you like loads of flow, fast natural trails and some steep techy bits. Shaping up to be a fairly big day out too. Filing up pretty fast, so if you fancy it I wouldn’t leave it too long.

POC enduro next year at Glentress – great event and cheap entries going at the moment here

Try and do all the rides over the 9 days of TweedLove fest. That’ll give you lots of racing, a bivi, and a ton of free guided trail rides. It’ll be a fairly punishing schedule though…

Interestingly, info suggests GT Restaurants Ltd company was set up the day the tender was awarded…
I agree braw at Sunflower. Prince of India usually OK, not cheap IMO. Shukria great take-away Indian, specially veg stuff. Coltmans has some great food, as does Osso. We’re even getting a Wetherspoons pub soon so Peebles has arrived it seems… Hels, Beltane is fine once you get your head round its role in the community… half decent town? Peebles rocks if you ask me. (Come to think of it, it will actually rock on June 2 with the We Were Promised Jetpacks/Frabbit/Tweedlove gig.)

Hopefully timings sorted out on TweedLove site – you can register on Sat or Sun. Final schedule/confirmed timings will be emailed to entrants and up on the site 10 days before the event… Thanks for pointing out the confusing info.

Seriously, you want to get some of these emailed in to the TweedLove Bike Festival photo comp. Fame, fortune and some decent prizes await (plus you might get a nice big quality print of your pic). Send em to info@tweedlove.com, more info here

Glentress Seven. Then do as many of the other free mtb rides as you’ve got legs for. It’s the jubilee weekend (most folk have 4 days off) and there’s tons happening in the valley with TweedLove.

Worth checking out Glentress Seven too (June 2 next year – bank holiday weekend) – great course, 7 hours, teams of two or three, good event village and atmosphere : ) Part of the TweedLove festival, where there’s a ton of events to take part in. Check out website

Just to confirm about Peebles date (December 12) – we’re showing some cool shorts and Tweed Valley / TweedLove stuff before Inside Out. We’re not planning to show Follow Me this time, as we showed it in full last year but if there’s time we’ll do some Follow Me highlights – we’re still confirming running list for the short films. Should be a good / fun night. And the tickets are cheaper out here in ye olde back country – £6.50. So you can buy a beer too. (Tix selling fast now though.) Neil / TweedLove

How far do you want to go? Amazing places by the sea up in Assynt.

And I can recommend our own place[/url] in Glen Coe, depending on dates.

I’m strongly against dogs at trail centres, and also, I’m sad to say, dogs off the leash pretty much anywhere there’s likely to be small children.
I used to like dogs til my eldest daughter, who was three at the time, got knocked to the ground and then ‘played with’ by a collie as she lay on the ground screaming, til I could get the thing off her. That happened on an FC path in the woods, and involved a dog which was ‘just playful, wouldn’t harm a fly’ according to its completely unapologetic owner. I have never wanted to kick someone (or some animal) as much in my life. A few years on and my daughter is still scared of dogs, and trail centre rides with her are regularly spoiled by selfish dog owners, whose animals are running around usually nowhere near them.
Most trail centre dog ‘walkers’ don’t seem to give a hoot that their dogs are running in front of other riders all the time. At least that’s what it looks like to me.
If you want to exercise your dog off its leash, be responsible – don’t go where there’s lots of people. And definitely don’t take it to a trail centre – your selfishness spoils it for too many others

TweedLove hq is getting quite a few queries about entry on the day – probably cos the forecast is looking alright now ; ). Anyway, entries are possible on the day as we’ve got an extra stash of timing chips – you need to get there for about 8am, and remember there’s no credit card facility for race entry. Course all looking good!

That route youngrob’s refering to was similar to last year’s Natural Tweed route – part of the Tweedlove bike festival. That one was longer though and went into Cademuir too so not many folk managed the whole route. This year (June 18/19) there are two big days out on quality trails over the hills out of Inners and Peebles, and they’re free to join. You have to register in advance though, here. Natural Tweed’s what you want.

Asthma UK are official charity for Glentress Seven (June 11) too if you want to support. Cracking route for the race – have had a look at some of the new sections being cut for it – looking very sweet.

Do the Glentress 7 and the beast that is Natural Tweed (which is free), plus some of the other TweedLove events.

A few people have been asking how long one lap of the course will take cos it’s not on the website – has been updated now, and we reckon it will take 45 mins for someone who’s a regular rider and fairly fit. Whippets will be able to shave some time off that, but as some of the new sections are yet to be constructed we’re guessing a wee bit. Looks like we’ll have some great new sections of trail though!!
