I smoked for over 30 years…used to enjoy the ones on the bike when I reached the top of the hill but decided to pack it in along with my partner about 18 months ago. Didnt think I could do it…didnt really want to but havent had one since. Went the cold turkey route and personally think this is the best (and cheapest) way. I used to believe I would be a smoker up to my dying day but now even though I still get the odd craving they only last a matter of seconds and then you just get on with your life.
Gave up 14 months ago now and its definitely worth it. I never thought I could give up but thought I’d give it a go. Still miss the occasional fag when I get to the top of a climb but getting there is a lot easier.
When the craving gets bad…go for a ride, read a book or something and remember how hard can it be NOT to do something

My inbred is about 34lbs but feels lighter when I’m riding it than my old Marin which is 28lbs
My road bike 24lbs goes up hills slightly faster but goes down them slower (this might be due to the crap roads though)as my inbred feels totally planted and rides over bumps with ease
There’s plenty of 10 yr olds that go up on their BMX’s and play on the pump tracks. The red route might be a bit technical in places but its mostly OK.

Tried 720mm with a small rise and a 40mm stem…they felt great but could’nt get em out of the cellar door 😕
Gone back to 685mm now, still fairly wide and I can get out of the cellar to ride 🙂
