Saw it in 3D and didn’t think it made much difference…but it was midnight and I’d had a bottle of wine. Saw it in 2D and enjoyed it more, partly because I was awake, and because in 2D it is easier to look around the screen, so you can see more detail.
Either way, it’s an absolute hoot; picked up more jokes in round two that we missed the first time through too much laughter!

Talking to a colleague flooded out of their house in York, it will be 6 months before they will be back in. Pretty grim stuff really, but they were all happy to have escaped safely.

I really want to do this again, but clashes with term time this year. Fingers crossed for 2017! Good luck to everyone for entries and racing.

In the middle of the traditional New Years ride fest, so today was a mashed up dragons back. Day 3 sore ness but otherwise great!

Stif in Summerbridge. It’s an hours drive, but I will be riding both sides of Christmas thanks to their quick work on my forks. Amazing service!

In for the first 3, excited as I missed out on Gisburn last year. Now have to try and get a Saturday off work…

The Phoenix inside the walls opposite the Barbican is nice- 4 ales on tap and coal fires. The Hop on Fossgate- great ales and good pizzas from their wood fired oven. Three Legged Mare on High Petergate. I’d avoid the Guy Fawkes unless you book a table for food- it’s rammed at this time of year. Bar wise the City Screen bar is pricey but has great views.

    I work most Saturdays :-(

Marks and Spencer do a good range at a very reasonable price. Avoid anything cotton: chafing is not ok!

Not killed but I have a 650b one and have bust two spokes on the rear drive side since February. Not unusual per se, except I have been riding all sorts of bikes for 20 years and have never broken one before!

Verbier and around is good. You’re allowed to cycle on most of the “footpaths” and the bike park links up nicely with the natural stuff.

I’m soooo tempted by this. Love racing, love night riding and already planning to ride Llandegla on Saturday. But, doing the skills course on Sunday, which this would probably ruin me for, so will reluctantly give it a miss (whilst keeping it in mind for next year)!

Having come from triathlon, it doesn’t seem so expensive to me. But if you’re doing lots of races it does add up!

Only diff to me seems to be prize categories- Sunday has only I female category, Saturday 3. Think I’ll do the Saturday so I can get pissed without consequences! (or do the wiggle sportive on the Sunday)

(Historian hat on). Early modern and England rules out any radiation based stuff. Classic poison of choice was arsenic, either from a poison ring (Borgias), via pages of a book (Medici favourite) or via clothing. It is pretty quick acting in large doses too. Bella Donna was used by the Romans as a poison, and has been credited by some Historians, including Carlo Ginzburg, as being responsible for the Witch Craze in 16th and 17th Century Europe because it caused hallucinations which made people think they were flying,

Playing a netball match in Malvern in 2004
“You should talk to Tracey-she does a bit of mountain biking
Me in my naivety “Oh, what do you ride”
    Tracey “a Kona”
Me later….who knew Tracey Mosley played netball! Doh!

I think easyjet only release 3-6 months in advance for most routes. We got flights to Geneva in July for about £200 including bikes

Yes! Very excited after racing so badly last time ( in my defence the oppo was a bit good) and looking forward to the good atmosphere and trail banter. Will be going for knee and elbow pads, restricting the flouro to shorts and my trusty bell helmet. Good luck!

We did our first guided holiday this year with Bike Verbier, and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. We had 6 (5 guided) days of the most awesome natural trail ever, saw few other riders (none on natural trails, few in the bike park on our day off). They pick you up from Geneva, or you can drive, so it’s super stress free. The food was fantastic every night, with big breakfasts and trail lunches also provided. The guides were brilliant, great banter, really enthusiastic and pushed you hard without over extending. We will be back next year with more mates in tow for sure!

Or hot as in not ride a bike?

A great event and a super atmosphere. Disappointed not to get in for the Sunday ( and did anyone do both cause that’s what we were hoping to do!), but the Saturday race was sweet. Made the most of the event village too- just the weather for a post race beer.

Raced the Ard Rock Enduro Sport yesterday. Feel like I was put in a sack and beaten this morning when I didn’t even crash! Waiting for Mr Lapierrelady to wake up so we can go for brunch, might get the paddle boards out later if it’s looking nice.

We’re going Hull-Zeebrugge as we fancied driving through Belgium rather than northern France- apparently my exciting story about Dijon is now getting slightly old. Excited about the buffet and bunks experience!

Going to try a 2.4 rather than a 2.3, hope it is ok cause we’re racing in the Alps in 2 weeks time! Thanks for the advice

They don’t lock the gates at 8pm, so you’re ok if you’re in the main car park. There’s no one on the gate after about 4ish, and whilst there is a meter next to it…

I’m being baffled by a Hogan II at the moment. It slipped into the DofE store a few years ago and it’s a right bastard to put up. Given it’s sunny, I might have another go this afternoon

So glad you got it back! The first time my Lapierre was stolen, and returned, they’d ‘pimped’ it with shit peddles, grips with flanges (argh!!!) and broken the maxle. Thieves are arseholes.

If you want less paperwork and crap, go into the independent sector. We’re ISI rather than Ofsted and everyone’s a lot more laid back and more interested in teaching than targets. Agree with the joy of trips though…I’ve had 6 ski trips, 3 trips to Cyprus and I’m off to Space Camp at Easter. It’s jolly hard work (can you manage a day without swearing!!) but very rewarding and very fun.

I made it, and the husband too. Not in any sort of circle either, not even a knitting one!

I don’t know about the ski train, but we did it 3 years ago changing in Paris, and it was a right arse as you had to navigate the metro with ski kit. It took longer than flying and was more expensive, even in Feb half term!

It is very funny. Grumio is my favourite character (“he was a ****, so I shat in his hat”). It is also, according to my classicist friend, surprisingly historically accurate, perhaps because the inimitable Mary Beard was an advisor.

Be a girl and unless you’re Anne-Caroline Chaussan you’ll have the entire route to yourself after the first black piste on the glacier. Other half (male)had a very different race experience to me!

We stayed at the Hotel Beausoleil
    http://www.beausoleil-alpedhuez.com/accommodation.asp

for the Mega last year, and it was great. They turned over the basement for bike storage, you can check that the lift is running from your balcony and it’s about 50m on the flat to the DMC. We ended up doing half board, which was great because the restaurant choice is a little limited and you had food to put in your face at 7pm every day!It didn’t have a pool, but your lift pass should give you free access to the open air pool. The bar had free wifi and the place was very clean.

We stayed at the Pic Blanc for the Alpes D’Huez tri, which was more hotelly and at the bottom of the village. Very near the only decent bike shop though, and you could always start with a run down the hill and get the lift back to town from Huez. It’s got a spa and wifi in the rooms.

We flew to Denver in October (no problems with bikes) then drove. Do do do stop in Fruita/Grand Junction. Drop into OTE sports in Fruita for a guidebook and enjoy the sweet technical singletrack in the surrounding hills.
