Did a ride today Norland,Ringstone into Ripponden and on the old railway line back to Sowerby Bridge. It was a bit tricky in places but managed to ride all the way and stay on the bike.
There is a lot of snow and its cold and everywhere is icing up now.
760mm here! Don’t like narrow bars makes me feel like my body’s folding in but I have broad shoulders!! When climbing I shift my hands in sometimes, then on the downs it’s arms wide and away you go. Depends on body size and shoulder width and of course what feels comfy.
It’s with bookable ski (but they go through Neilson), £161 for flights, transfers and self catered accomodation stopping in Du Jardin Alpin. Seems basic but you don’t expect much for that much. Means we can get a pass and a holiday for £330! We are doing it on the cheap as we are cheap but want some good powder and decent pistes to hit. There looks to be a park and a half pipe to session as well. Worldsnowboardguide said it was bought by the guys who own Tigne, Saas-Fee and Chamonix which is promising as they’re well set up areas.
M62 Junction 24,down A629 watch for speed cameras,A6026 to Sowerby Bridge,A6139 Tuel Lane (which is a right turn at lights) to A646 Burnley Road to Hebden Bridge. Quicker than Chain Bar route but avoid at 9am and 5pm.
I've got boots (and socks) sorted. Spent a while trying varying types but plumped for a Salomon Synapse. It's a narrow fit for my narrow feet and feels comfortable with little to no heel lift, after using them I'm glad I got a stiffer boot as I feel much more confident and don't have to force the board to make movements like I had before in the Casvegas slippers. I've signed up for the SCUK membership thanks alot for the heads up and i'm off snowsurfing tonight after work. My feet are a size 10 so I'll make sure I look out for width, and now I've got 10% off at TSA it might be worth plumping for new gear as apposed to second hand. Cheers again for the advice it's been much appreciated
Yeah cheers tony, great ride and some great folk! Need to get the recipe for that Coconut Mountain cake though…and Marcus if you fancy a ride round Norland in the near future drop me a mail at helliwell_b@yahoo.com
I didn’t like mine, didn’t fit my bum reet well. Get on much better with a normal saddle with shallower sides, but the proof is in the pudding and I’d recommended trying one.
Realise how bad that reads, basically I’m looking for cleaning, barwork, waiter, bike mechanicing/cleaning or anything else. Does anyone have any experience of working in this area, any tips?
they are tight, I’m the same as Repack broken numerous tyre levers fitting tyres. Decided to put some soft compound intense on the other day, took an hour and I aren’t sure if the tyres are a little overkill for the time being. One things for sure they aren’t coming off as that would result in another hour of my life lost!
Don’t think the wanting to go through bits the problem, think he’s accepted he couldn’t go through. It’s just the way in which the officer handled the situation, which I think was a little unprofessional
I love high rollers, find them a really nice rolling tyre that corners well. The super tacky does slow you down and stones stick to them and ping up at your frame! Dual ply are heavier but its worth it for the extra protection the thicker sidewalls give alongside being able to run lower pressures.
To be honest they don’t come up that huge in the width department, I’ve had specialized 2.3 which is bigger and intense 2.35 which seems smaller, and what you lose in a little rolling resistance will only help on the downs and on your legs whichever tyre you go for.
won’t work correctly, mine broke in les gets and resulted in poor engagement then the rest failed too. Risk it, worse that will happen is you’ll be stuck when the rest break!
downhill domination was also an arcade game, you had to sit on a bike and pedal like njee said. Was good fun trying to beat a computer with your legs while steering
