Anyone know differences between Montaro and Montara? Missus needs a new lid and this is £100 cheaper than the female specific version

Got my Klim for £300 second hand, granted that’s very cheap for the jacket but i can use it all year round and both on and off road!

Have a look on eBay for adventurespec, they are the UK distributor but sell off items quite often, some are returns, others ex display. They’ve some jackets on at the moment.

If you wanted to avoid buying new winter gloves you can become a full on commuter by fitting these: http://www.nippynormans.com/handguard-extenders-and-handlebar-muffs/tucano-urbano-handlebar-muffs-pair-r1200gsadvgs-lc-and-more

Can get them on eBay for £30

Less than £100 they are all much of a muchness. Mine was from Aldi!!! Have a look at the Rev It suit just because of how the zip runs: https://www.xlmoto.co.uk/revit-pacific-2-h2o-rain-suit-neon-yellow-black?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm6Oi2Oiq1wIVVs-yCh362gJaEAQYECABEgIkSPD_BwE

They can be hot and sweaty, I found mine to be but it was 20c going across France in the summer. You’ll be riding in the British winter! Have a look under your seat, you may find space to store an oversuit so you never get caught out.

Commuted by bike everyday for the last five years. What I found was my Hein Gericke gear was waterproof but if I got wet going to work the suit would hold the water and end up very cold and heavy with water running into my gloves from it pooling at the cuff on the way home.

I’ve ended up with a second hand Klim Badlands jacket as it’s goretex pro, meaning it stops the rain getting in. Some of the expensive gore tex kit is simply a liner so the above still happens.

If you’ve got textiles that work for summer I’d just chuck a waterproof over suit on as decent weatherproof gear can end up very expensive. Instead invest in waterproof and warm gloves and boots.

Walking home from the pub with a mate, walked past my car and gesticulated with my foot while saying, “look at that piece of ****”. Misjudged how close I was and put my foot through the fog light, not my proudest moment! Needless to say Sunday morning was removal of both front fogs for good!

Like chip says, take some lessons and give it a go. Motorbikes, much like bike bikes, have lots of types. If you fancy off-road, racing, on road, touring etc… there are lots of options.

Having only owned a motorbike for a number of years and no car I get the fear factor. I hate motorways personally due to a number of factors, managed to get to Andorra then over to Les Gets and back to sunny Yorkshire with very few motorways as I know I hate them.

What else have you chucked a leg over recently?

Spent a decent amount of time there with work, few places I enjoyed:
    – Start with the cathedral including the roof visit as the views are great. No shorts or skirts above the knee when we were there but may have changed
    – On the corner of the cathedral, Wine while people watching next to the cathedral, bottle of wine is relatively cheap (€10 for rose) and is in a great spot http://www.signorvino.com/en/wine-shop/milan-duomo
    – From the above walk across to the department store and go to the top floor where there is a fantastic restaurant (also used to be a mozzarella bar up there) https://www.rinascente.it/mobile/views/food/store.aspx?storecode=451#/en
    – Skip dessert and go to one of gellato places behind the wine bar, get a take out and amble through the square as sitting in is expensive with no views
    – Finish and go to the Aperol terrace bar for an evening drink http://www.terrazzaaperol.it/en/home/
    – Take the train to Monza, lovely old town with some great fish restaurants and you can always do a track walk at the race circuit

Anyone in West Yorkshire wanting a ride let me know, happy to chat or not if it helps someone. Mountain biker but don’t mind a slow canal bimble or an enduro session…

BTW props to the OP for seeing something that can help and having the balls to come on here and seek a friend, can’t be easy but very admirable

Thank you for all the advice, it’s been taken and both a formal report requested from vet two and contact made with vet one.

The kitten is doing better, temperature plummeted and rose which led to a day of worry that she wouldn’t make it but she’s turned a corner. Currently on a drip with drains in from where the surgery took place but, as long as infection stays at bay, she should survive.

As much as I understand the questioning regarding prolonging life, this is a kitten with a full life ahead of it. What the last few days have shown are that the little thing has a huge, positive influence on my sister in terms of her own well being making the financial implications are somewhat irrelevant for us as a family.

Spoken with original vet and explained the situation and obvious frustration. They were apologetic and agreed to review with all people involved within their practice. He also stated that if they are liable the cost would be passed to the vet who performed the procedure.

I’ve requested a report from vet 2 following the outcome of today, fingers crossed.

Reread and my post sounds financially driven and unempathetic. I’ve agreed, to help my sister, I’ll deal with the vets and finances so it’s one less thing to worry about as she’s in bits and running on a lack of sleep.

On Netflix some of my favourites are:
Only the Dead – in depth look at the Iraq war, well worth a watch due to how mental the situation is for the journalist

Nobody Speak – about Hulk Hogan and the trial regarding his sex tape, has a very interesting twist

Gringo – a slow watch but a crazy story about the founder of Macafee antivirus software

A Sinner in Mecca – interesting look at the pilgrimage of a gay man to Mecca

Not on Netflix but The Cove is a great watch as well.

    I lied – got a Stihl 211/C with a 16″ bar!! It’s still great

I’ve got a Stihl 171 with a 14″ bar. Came with a free stihl hatchet and saw horse. So far so good as it’s not extremely heavy and can be used all day without getting too tired.

Starts easy and also a doddle to maintain. Couldn’t recommend enough and it’s my favourite tool in the shed. There’s something very rewarding about a day cutting and splitting!

Not taken the bike but just back from California and flew with Norwegian.

There are lots of horror stories online but take them with a pinch of salt. Modern, clean, new planes with polite and helpful staff, decent enough food and other snacks/drinks were proper sizes and reasonably priced. We flew back with a couple poles strapped to one of our bags (don’t ask). No bother, they sorted it. I’ll be using them again for sure.

Only thing they were getting people with was massive carry on baggage. Let you get to the gate, pull those with big bags, weigh them and if a jot over 10kg charged them $40 to stick it in the hold. To be fair most were taking the p***.

Allthegear were you there on the bike? If so would like some tips/advice if you’d care to share…

Ride an 800gs, on and off road. If I could afford I’d chop it in and have a KTM 350EXC and a road bike, but I can’t!

GS is heavy off road and when going slow a real pig to move about (must big adventure type bikes are in my experience). Ridden the GS back to back with an 800 Tiger and prefer the GS.

If you are near Touratech in Wales they have a travel event on next weekend where you can try bikes from Triumph, BMW and Ducati and there will be a fair number there to chat to about bikes in your budget.

Not a charity shop but spotted an old motorbike helmet in an antique shop in Matlock Bath.

Couple of Old BMW stickers either side which got me at first (ride a BMW), but on closer inspection turned out to be a Griffin Clubman from the 70s.

Stuck it on eBay and bidding war between a guy in Japan and a English bloke living in Switzerland. English bloke won it for £200, had it shipped to a restorer in the U.K. where he had it completely stripped and rebuilt/painted before shipping it to Switzerland.

As it was an antique shop I didn’t feel bad for diddling the out of £180.

Second for Adventure Bike Rider and my dad gets Motorcycle Sport and Leisure, both focussed on the joy of riding and telling stories with some test and long termers thrown in for good measure. I’d highly recommend both!

I’d agree to shorten the route unless you are going for the driving. We did 7 weeks in Europe and managed 7,500 miles and 17 countries.

The struggle we had was not rebooking campsites and even knowing where they were, you can spend a lot of wasted time trying to find them and book in, so my advice would be to plan your accommodation in advance (not necessarily book but have an idea of where).

Cities are great but bear in mind you have a car, many cities you will end up parking on the outskirts as getting close to the centre and finding parking is difficult and expensive.

Avoid the toll roads, you see so much more of the countries you are visiting and the smaller towns.

As a suggestion for your time how about the west coast of France, into Andorra (hire bikes and ride the bike park) and into northern Spain? Great views, weather and food.

Most of all enjoy the leisurely pace and time with your son, we enjoyed it so much we did it twice!

Live down the road from Alpkit and was in there the other week buying some cutlery and having a chat.

Friend was after a Koala and asked me to speak with them about them as the site showed as out of stock. They make them in the store/factory and said to give them a ring and they’d make what he wanted as they were making them all the time. He received it pretty quick and was really chuffed with it (6 day solo trip off road around Scotland).

In short, give them a bell!

This is a common problem with Hope rotors with a carrier (floating and vented) and none Hope hubs. Easiest way is to take some metal off the fork/mount.
