I’ve ended up with one… well two if we are being picky! One for me and one for my dad, chopped in an 800GS and 1200 Tenere and so far very very happy!

My experience with GSP is positive, of the 400 items I’ve sold in the last three months I’ve had plenty through GSP.

Twice I had issues, the first was with a fuel tank which isn’t covered under GSP. The item was listed under fuel tanks and as such eBay refunded the buyer, binned the tank and let me keep my payment.

The second time was with a “missing” parcel, eBay had proof of signature and told the buyer to go swivel. This tends to be the case as eBay charge huge shipping fees on the buyer side to allow things like proof of post etc…

Once in the hands of the GSP warehouse, as long as it’s packaged appropriately eBay carry the liability and should communicate with the buyer should an issue be raised.

    Really glad you enjoyed it!

    So to answer your questions…
Church: that route down, starting at the steps, is the one to go down and links back to the main road after crossing the train line

North Dean: you were on the right track there

Copley: yes that was part of the route but isn’t a huge amount missed although still a fun section

Let me know if you are ever back over, I’ve lots more routes like that I’d be happy to map and share

By the way it takes you past a couple of pubs but I’d recommend The Moorcock Inn. The route goes right to the door and they do a great pint and really good sourdough to take away!

Thank you for all the advise, I’ve dropped Richard a message as it seems Apuane Alpi is only an hour away by car.

I’m going to drop the guys in Massa a FB message as Massa is only 40mins away from us as well!

Trailforks downloaded and now taking up most of my (working) day.

    Keep the ideas coming.

    Try this

Route starts by Manor Heath park and takes in a few differing trails with a view to avoiding the road. There is an out and back section which can be skipped should you wish to and the bulk of the route should show you some of the other trails in the area (they are pretty obvious as you are riding along).

Let me know if you want a bit of a description for the route way points and I can pull it together today.

Leave it with me, I’m working from home tomorrow so I’ll pull something together.

Sounds like a ride out is needed in the not too distant future

Where you’re stopping and where you plan on riding is my stomping ground, lots of routes up to, over and around Norland. Can you give me an idea of what you like to ride (xc, fast downhill, technical etc…) and how long you want to be out for and I’ll try do you a route on mapmyrun or something.

Got a Trailshot, great bit of kit that’s relatively inexpensive compared to the competition and packs up nice and small. Only gripe is that it could do with a longer hose for getting into rivers/steams but that’s easily fixed.

Very easy to clean in the field and there is something nice about cold, filtered water from the hills.

    Got one of these: http://www.exped.com/switzerland/en/product-category/tents/gemini-iii

Don’t be fooled by the three person claims, it would a very very tight three person. Got it because the outer canopy doesn’t have to go up leaving a nice airy tent for the summer months. Also fits in a motorbike pannier which was a big plus for me.

Got it on eBay for £310, Sports Direct sometimes have the higher range tents online with decent discounts so if you are willing to wait it’s one to watch.

Not strictly a BBQ but got the Uuni out last night and made pizza – enough dough left to make some more for lunch today.

Best thing we’ve bought in ages and easy to use, she did well picking it for my birthday.

My recent and on going experience of having to give access for maintenance of an adjacent property would lead me to advise them to not let him near. We had a lovely garden and it’s been trashed, plants ripped out, damage to property, litter left out and no courtesy given to us even though we’ve been nothing but amicable. We are yet to see the end and are unsure if we will get the garden back we had without spending our own money. It’s genuinely a ball ache for zero gain to your parents.

If they already don’t get along, unless there are some clear boundaries set, it will be stressful for your parents. Small things, like working on the weekend, storage of materials on their property etc… will cause arguments and hassle.

In a nutshell, if the law’s on your side, don’t entertain it!

Did this ourselves, loan is through work but the same as getting it from a bank. Had friends do it, loan from Sainsbury’s at about 2% and a decent deposit.

As long as you can afford the loan repayments what’s to worry about?

+1 in the MSR Trailshot, if you are using it to cook you’ll be boiling it anyway, I’d assume, so it’s doubley safe.

Depending how deep the stippling is but a decent plasterer will be able to go straight over the top of it

wrightyson, didn’t realise you knew him 😀

That’s been half the battle for some time, the neighbour on his other side gives me stick as he’s at home all the time (retired), ultimately I don’t want the hassle and animosity but also don’t like being screwed/lied to when you’ve tried to help and support where you can.

Does anyone know, when someone has listed building consent on a grand scale, if the listings office should/would make trips to see the property

We live in Yorkshire so naked sunbathing for the two days of the year it’s warm and a fence for the rest.

    So… the plot thickens.

I’ve dug out all the plans and old documents that came with the house including the land registry. Straight from it reads:
Note: From the Southern boundary of the land contracted to be sold along the line A B C is situated two feet from the outer walls of the cottage and house respectively.

Seems he owns the two foot of land he’s bunging the pipe in, and we simply have a bit of extra garden, if he lets us! The risk, now that he’s dug up all our plants, is he simply puts gravel back and tells us to foxtrot oscar.

I’ve also just found out from his tradesmen that the bricked up windows facing our house are being put back in. I’d thought I’d do a bit of digging on the local planning portal as we’ve (just before Christmas) had to submit listed building consent to change some windows (both houses are listed).

So found the consent submission and he’s been told that:
    – all gutters/pipes have to be cast iron. Had a look tonight, the ones on the front of his house are, the ones we look over…all black plastic
    – English Heritage have been requested by the council to do a report due to the amount of works done to date without consent. One key stipulation is to leave all windows as is but he’s installing new!
    – He’s submitted a plan leaving currently bricked up windows bricked up. Tonight the windows aren’t bricked up anymore and his tradesmen tell me windows are going in over looking us

    So do I;
    – chill and have a beer, it is what it is
    – get in touch with him to talk it all through
    – contact the council to let them know what’s happening, bearing in mind they will be round to see our own house in the next few weeks
    – another suggestion from the Hive mind

wrightyson you’ve reminded me of something that was passed on when we bought the house regarding easement, I’m going to dig out the plans tonight and take a look. The houses were built in 1675 and I remember some strange agreements from the documents we received. What’s the best photo sharing site as I’ll get some pictures up.

As to why we let them ruin our garden, thought we were being good neighbours as they are renovating their house (just like us). The work being done at winter has meant a lot of issues but I’ll share some photos later when I’m in from work.

We’ve a strange layout but in effect it’s a border running along the side of their house. There is no risk to anything being built, only thing is us gardening. They’ve already ruined our garden doing it as they’ve taken all plants out of the border and just yesterday chopped half the roots from the 35yr old magnolia as they’ve decided to change the route of the pipe. Fingers crossed it survives as it’s the only one we wanted leaving untouched.

290mm is to top of pipe from ground level.

The one you’ve linked will be fine and is a decent price, use mine a lot and it’s just a Helinox copy. The one we got came with the base mat to stop it sinking into the ground, the chair was cheaper than the official helinox mat!!!!

We’d been shopping for a car for a year as the missus wrote mine off. I’ve been using the motorbike everyday for work and she has a little run around, so we weren’t in a rush to buy especially as we were looking second hand and a new model was coming out which we assumed would drive down the second hand price.

It did, but of the four cars we found and made offers on (all different dealers) I was surprised at the lack of any movement.

    Of the four:
    – first one wouldn’t move on price following a low ball offer, think I offended them. First lesson was offer a realistic price or they think you aren’t serious
    – second dealer would give a token £100 off even though there was the same car with less miles and £500 cheaper in the dealer network. Second lesson that logic doesn’t work and they’d rather ship that car at no cost to them from another dealer than reduce their own.
    – third was a car that had been on the forecourt for 6 weeks and they’d not move as they only had £300 in the deal. After a bit of digging it turned out this car had been in Portsmouth at the same price for two months and then shipped to Leeds, after our offer of £500 less being refused it was put in the Christmas sale four weeks later with £500 off before not selling and going to another dealer. Third lesson, don’t get suckered in as there is a deal to be done somewhere.
    – Fourth car found in Newcastle (we’re in Halifax). Drove up to see the car, found it had more spec than they’d listed and a service package included. Asked him what the best they’d do on it was, ended up with £500 off, it delivered and a full tank of diesel in it. Over the moon with the car, and like others I feel I got a deal (it was the cheapest with the spec we’d seen in the 12mths we’d been looking).

Long story short, took 12mths to save £500 but I feel better for it and the cars great!

I’ve got a Klim jacket, it’s great and waterproof but the neck is a little gapey even when tightened down. In the cold I find it needs decent layers underneath but in the summer it’s a dream with all the vents.

I found them all to fit a bit different so try on before you buy, I’ve ended up with a Badlands jacket but the Badlands pants didn’t fit right.

Boots wise, Alpinestar Toucan, they are a bit big and clumpy but are so comfy and have never let a drop of water in. Worn every day for 4yrs I think now and don’t show any sign of wearing out. Just don’t expect to walk a mile in them!

Used to take 7/8 a day of the 50s, three at a time in the morning and I was floating around! I was doing this for a while then went cold turkey, it’s horrible. Itchy skin, sweaty, head aches. Unless you’ve severe short term pain I’d not recommend it, long term it’s bloody addictive and the pain killing effects do start to wear off the longer you take them.

If the vehicle is serviced by Volvo you are provided with 12mths warranty on work completed, if the service was done in that period then it will support the claim.

Did this, in this van, in the wet, with RWD. I’d not recommend white boxer shorts for the journey.
