    Agree with nemesis. I have a decent pair of each, but when it gets to minus figures I go with the unpadded over the top. Cold hands and feet are bad enough, but it pales into insignificance when your old man feels like an eskimos thumb 😀

    I found it pretty awful and the four 9 year old boys i took were thoroughly underwhelmed. I also made them go round York Minster so it was a miserable day all round for them 😀

    Did an hour on the turbo. The wind whipping under the garage door was hellish 😀

    ‘The reason i can’t understand anything that comes out of your mouths is because you are as thick as 2 short plonks’

    ‘planks’

    ‘your welcome’

    Wallop. I have sobered a little, the last album is Pelican. Takes a good listen before you get it, but it is very god. I will try Marks, cheers

    As were Simon and Garfunkel, compared with George Michael and Andrew Ridgley. Both entertaining in their own way. But one was still shit 😆

    It took me ages to see the arm. This photo should be used in psychometric tests for junior school children. Sort the wheat from the chaff.

    Wallop, which Maccabees. Thought the last album ( whose name drunkenly escapes me) was wonderful. Is the new album similar?

    Thanks BBS, not just me who can’t quite understand how someone would think Elementary is better than, well anything.
    Have to say The Bridge (both Scandinavian and English/French versions), was superb. Just worrying the second series will struggle to live up.

    Pizza at local ‘beat the clock’ restaurant with family;
    Pinot from the new Aldi;
    TFI Friday, it is pretty much the same as it was 20 years ago. Take that how you will.

    Hmm. Luther is very good, probably the best of the lot, but the others aren’t that far behind? Still think the bbc do it better

    Really, really, Elementary? I watched the first episode as Johnny Lee Miller is wonderful in Trainspotting, Regeneration.
    But Elementary?? Really??
    I can understand if you don’t like Sherlock, different strokes and all that, but Elementary????

    This was one of the things I used to enjoy doing at schools as part of our ‘neighbourhood policing’, as well as the upsides and downsides of drugs. We haven’t done this for a few years now 😥

    Beautifully filmed, scripted, acted, great score and a bit different? My 15 year old was quite taken, as was I

    Aw, little sweety. We just rescued a 5 yr old collie cross and he is absolutley brilliant, chases a tennis ball like a whippet on speed then sleeps on your lap all evening.

    Each to their own prejudice I suppose.
    Walked out of Schindler’s List. Does that count.

    I’ve purchased quite a few books from STW recommendations, by far the best was Child 44 set in Stalin’s Russian.
    I’ve just ordered Flashman and Pillars of the Earth, might give Horneblower a go as well. Cheers gents.

    My back started causing me pain at 18. In the intervening years i have had physio, acupuncture, 2 weeks at harrogate, an array of differing stem lengths and bike fits.
    I would love to be able to ride my old 23lb carbon hardtail around Gisburn, and it was quicker than a f/s on most stuff, however the lower back pain would prevent that. The f/s makes it bearable with 2 or 3 glute stretches thrown in to a ride. If you ever see anyone led at the side of the trail with their limbs tied in a knot, don’t worry it is just me stretching my back 🙁

    Got my 15 yr old a Lenovo B50-30 last year, 15 inch screen, decent memory and processor and most importantly for this age group it has an hdmi port. Ebuyer have it for £180, my missus has just bought herself the same model a couple of days ago. I did a bit of shopping around when i bought it and it was easily the best value for money.

    Mum and dad’s jack russel had to have her rear leg amputated at 1 yr old. They were devastated as it is their baby, but now she is almost as good as new and still incredibly mobile, they adapt extremely well.

    I tried a few years of sealskin socks (rubbish), shimano mw81’s (miserably cold due to narrowness) and Diadora Chilli’s (a form of torture). All the problems were mainly due to me having short, wide feet which struggled for any circulation (sealskins really are rubbish in the rain though).
    The best thing i have found without spending enough to buy a small second hand car is merino wool socks, overlayed with plastic sandwich bags, normal cycling shoes with thick neoprene overshoes. If it gets really cold i put a pair of Maplin battery heated insoles in, you look like a bit of a git with the battery packs strapped to your legs, but it makes the ride almost bearable.

    That pic from riksbar was the Vulcan going right over my house. I didn’t know it was coming anywhere near but i just happened to look out of the lounge window as it went right past the front. That was nice.

    I’m not in but it is my local trail. Hully Gully has been resurfaced and is running really fast, I had a cheeky look down loamageddon, it was lovely 2 weeks ago but i imagine it will be a mud fest at some point on sat.
    Apparently you go up the firetrack at the side of the Hope line twice .
    Good luck with that, we don’t call it Glue Hill for nothing 🙂

    I have a big daft lab. When i see people/other dogs approach i always put him on the lead, if they are dog savvy I let him off, if not i keep him on the lead.
